Hi KariM and thank you for the welcome. I have been on here before but on another part of this forum. I think I have been on the newbie one and the V4L forum too. I also told a story about a fire that I started by NOT being as careful as all of us should. And my dog's bed went on fire and thank Goddess I had my dog with me in my bed. lol. I am now the most careful vaper that I can be and never ever use anything but the charger that comes with the battery I am using. Lesson well learned

jacki...here I go handing out advise again, but after I had a melt-down I bought a Lipo-Safe bag & won't charge anything without it. A very small investment for peace of mind.

You know, I quit just like youre doing. In two weeks, without even trying, I prefered to vape instead of smoke. I stopped smoking on 8-8-12. So its about 5 months for me now. However, I tell myself, if I want
a smoke I can have it. I do still think about it and sometimes I go back and forth with wanting one, but Ive managed to stop the urge by vaping even more. I just got my first mod, a Vamo VV and for the money, Im very happy with it. Im using a Vivi Nova tank with it, and its making tons of vapors. I just have to get used to the weight of it. It seems very heavy to me. My arms are getting a workout, thats for sure.
Well, keep up the good work. Every day you can hold off smoking and vape is a day closer to being free from tobacco forever! I dont know about you, but the big shot tobacco company owners have drained my money long enough! Im done paying their way!!!

Hi Janki - I was likely vaping an original L-Rider Lavatube. I was able to get a couple cheap in a co-op and thought they were perfect for taking fishing with me in case I had an 'oops' moment and dropped it into the stream.

Hi Vapron - good to see you again, been a long time. Thanks for your help when I was quite the newbie and was interested in RBA's. I've now got 1/2 doz of 'em, expecting 2 more to show up this week, and waiting on a co-op for yet a couple more. Yikes!

I never thought I would claim to be an ex-smoker, but in April, it will be four years since I've smoked a cigarettes. Lots of folks ask me when I'll give up vaping, but I simply enjoy it too much, so I just simply reply 'why should I'?
Sure hope we can continue our vaping without any interference.
Believe it or not, even after all this time, I've only had a few experiences with DIY.....bad ones at that......but now am seriously considering it once more.

That's pretty scary! We always recharge our batteries where we can keep an eye on them and try never to leave the house or go to bed with any batteries plugged in. We've never had a problem, but you never know! It's hearing stories like yours that makes us careful so thanks for sharing.

I tried my first one on March 21, 2010. Not because I wanted to quit smoking, but because the state of Texas raised the taxes so high that I could not afford to pay for my habit of three or four packs a day. My wife smoked too, so it was really getting expensive. Therefore, I was bound and determined to make the e-cigarettes work and never pay the tax again.
They worked. I knew they would on the first day, even though they would be a compromise. It turns out that I was wrong about the compromise. I got lucky a few weeks later and found a tobacco flavor that I liked better than a cigarette and I've been a junkie every since. I go through about 6mL of juice every day and it's still cheaper than cigarettes.
In June of 2010 I found out about the CE-2 cartomizers and began using them when they became available in the USA. These things gave a lot of problems back then and several of us began experimenting with them. A few of our ideas back then are now being incorporated with various manufactured cartomizers and tanks today. Here are a few of my examples:
My first mod allowed the cartomizer to be refilled without using a syringe. It was sort of a drip tip mouthpiece that could be pulled out to expose the reservoir and allow it to be filled straight from the juice bottle. When put back in it sealed the coil cup and did away with the various seals, rings, etc. I still use a refined version of this brass prototype in the cartomizers that I build today.

I finished the Masterpiece VIII yesterday. So far the tests are favorable. Nothing outstanding, though. The laws of diminishing returns have been in effect for some time now. No photos are available, but it doesn't look much different than the one above.
My physical condition has been pretty bad this past year and I spent most of my time in hospitals or in bed recovering. I'm still getting over the last one and can't stay up all day. This doesn't keep me from working when I can and it certainly doesn't prevent me from thinking of new ideas. I'm hoping for a brighter 2013.

Looks like you have lived a few years longer than txtumbleweed so that makes you the senior member (age wise) of our ever growing group. I am sure tx will be along in a bit to welcome you. Kathleen I had to laff when I read your post about people thinkin you are smoking drugs ! When I am out walking my dog I see people driving by looking all crazy at me too! And I think they are thinking the same things that you have had to deal with! And congrats on you no longer smoking analogs! I have been 3 1/2 years now without analogs and not only do I feel physically better, I also do not smell like smoke all the time. Take care Jacki

Thank you for the info. I saw one of those bags myself and thought about getting one or two of them. Now I know I will. Where did you buy yours? Geez its the best lesson I could ever learn and even though there was carpet and dog bed damage, I did have smoke alarms and I realized the first started very quickly and threw the dog bed outside and doused it with water. I am so relieved that my dog was not in that bed however. That scared me so much that I am very very careful now and very .... about it too. I love my dog and animals more than I do humans so it would have killed me if he had gotten hurt. Well thanks for your advice. That is the reason I like these forums, you can live and learn useful stuff.
