I've copied and saved that excellent picture and will make that mod ASAP. Thanks!

'Nother question: is the other post a second positive connection? I haven't seen a video or picture where anyone uses it. It sure would be easier to connect to but it's in kind of an awkward spot.

I think that 'other' post was meant for using silica wicks. The wick would come up out the hole and take a 90 degree bend. Then coil was wrapped on the 'bend' then connected to the 'other' post and 'center' post.

Let me know if you can't find 2-3mm SS washers. I've got some extra I can send you.

It's still got me curious. Why the hole in that other post?

Thanks! I accept the offer! Will PM you my mailing address. No reason I can think of to use anything other than a letter envelope and a single first class stamp.

I think it's just the Chinese typical setup for passing the wire through the hole and clamping it with the screw instead of wrapping around a screw/post.
I would have thought that would break the wire, but now that I give it more thought: I guess the section of the wire that passes through the post is so short that it would be quite stiff over that short length and provide a pretty solid barrier to the bottom of the screw.

I got my round Kanthal from Temco today. 25' of 26 gauge and 50' of 31 gauge. I'd watched a video where somebody used 26 gauge wire and was fascinated by how sturdy it was.

So I made a coil around some 2mm silicone wick and used 10 wraps, knowing that the resistance per foot was low. I just barely made the minimum for the Vamo to run, 1.3 ohms. Not a neat job at all but it works. The single wick isn't really enough. Next time I'll make it with 2 wicks.

Wow - you're really jumping in w/ both feet going all the way down to 26g Kanthal. I consider folks using 28g as extreme vapers. I've been pretty happy with 30g for all my RBA's and 32g for re-doing Vivi Nova heads.

I'm proud of this one. 12 wraps of 26 gauge, 2 wicks, 1.6-1.7 ohms. I made the coil first then pulled the wicks through.

I have a couple of magnifying headlamps. They come in handy for fine work. Also a jewelrs loop helps sometimes.

I've been wanting some of those for quite awhile, and now I really need to get some. I just won an AGI rebuildable atty. lol So I'm gonna be at least attempting this! Now I'm gonna have to start paying attention to all the techy posts that I sorta skim over now. lol

Weather this morning is a bit.... wet. tornado watch until 11 am. rain. wind. I may have to bring a bit of extra juice to work with me today :)

be careful hun! Sure hope it's not headed right for ya.

(ty big for savin me here)
