Sounds about like the town I lived in, 5 mins from this one. 1 blinking light in town, they have addresses, but we got mail that would have a totally wrong address, but it still got to us.

Ok folks. I need some encouragement, but also need tech help. Doesn't anyone know how to put a riva battery back together?? 3 weeks vaping today. Decided to clean a stardust. Watched the video, paused it. Hooked stardust to my battery, rocked the plastic tube to get it off the base like the video showed. Now bear in mind, I don't have much grip.....can't open most jars without an act of congress, but yeah, I totally ripped the top off my battery. The silver part where the button is. Played button, button, who's got the button......found the button......(played this game 2 more times before putting the button in a tin so I wouldn't lose it again). My kit came with two, so I can still vape except for when I'm charging (that'll be a fun 3 hrs). But I just don't have the money to replace this right now, and although the warranty is still good, I don't think this would be covered. lol When I push the innards down, it lights up, but there is a red wire sticking up that is probably supposed to attach to something in the part that came off. I know this is live and learn, and we all make mistakes, bad choices etc, but wow.....I have messed up every single thing I've done so far in one way or another. Do I need to chunk this and just wait til I can afford to replace it, or do you think I can fix it? Keeping in mind of course, that I'm a much better breaker than I am a fixer.

Hey Deb, I would at least contact the vender you bought it from and tell them what happened. It might be covered under their warranty. You never know unless you ask.

If I were driving a new car, and wrecked it while swerving to avoid a reckless driver, I wouldn't expect my dealer to replace it. :)

I agree but it is possible in this case that it was a faulty item instead of user error. Maybe it shouldn't have come apart so easily.

I agree also cool breeze. Which is why I keep sitting here arguing with myself about whether to even contact them. I talked to someone who's gonna help me get another battery, so even if they don't, I'll be ok. In retrospect it was probably a dumb thing to do as I don't expect the battery is supposed to be an anchor to pull off a clearo tube, but I've seen a ton of videos where folks did just that, and I really don't have much grip or strength in that arm due to nerve damage. The kit I bought was supposed to be 2 five click riva 1100 mah batts. When they came, one was a 5 click and one was a 3 click. I did write them just to ask if they were the same battery since that was different. They said they were the same, so I let it go. It's the 3 click that broke. I just need to pray about whether to contact them or not.

Perhaps it shouldn't have. The couple I have taken apart were gosh-awfully hard to get into pieces.

I use one of my original auto cig size batteries to remove the tubes on my clearos and they haven't attempted to come apart. That is why I was wondering if maybe Debs battery wasn't put together quite as well as it should have been.

In all the videos I have watched that is the way everyone does it so I would think you did it correctly. I do know to rock the clearo slightly as I apply pressure. To much rocking and the tube can crack but just the slightest little bit along with the pull just eases them off. I know you will do what ever you feel is right.

That is kind of like what I had in mind. There will be no light, just heat involved so I am going to try it.

Sorry, I failed to give my reasoning. I live on the central Florida Gulf coast. I've kept all my jooses and DIY supplies near my non-air conditioned garage work bench. I've yet to note any deterioration of those supplies. Therefore I would follow my own recommendation if I had the fortune and pleasure to follow your itinerary.

Was stationed in the PI for a few months in '66. I must say that it's a most beautiful and bountiful country with some of the kindest folk I've met world wide!

Seems like you watched a similar or the same video I saw. That was the way to take the older stardust apart, the newer ones are harder to take apart. Here is the better way to do it.
NOTE: I haven't tried it yet so don't blame me if you break the stardust. At least there seems to be no danger to the battery with this method.

I got a Vivi Nova from Hoosier E-Cig today, the only thing that seems sort of strange is the length of the wicks. All the pictures I've seen of other V2s have wicks that extend to the base of the tank, the ones I got have to be about 3/8" long and extend only to the side of the tank. It's not a big negative, I don't mind twirling the tank to soak the wicks, I just wasn't expecting them to be so short.

I put on the 2.8 ohm head, some Gorilla Juice in the tank, put it on my ProVari and started playing with the voltage. I found that 3.7 volts was the sweet spot for me, it brought out the best taste and produced a very nice cloud of vapor. So I put it on my eGo clone and it worked just as well, even though it looks odd on the eGo it will be nice to have that flexability. With the 2.8 ohm head performing so well at 3.7 volts I wonder if I've got a low enough voltage setting to use the 1.8 ohm head, I'll have to save that trial for another day.

Thanks to Harley Diva for turning me on to the Vivi Nova!

I'm subscribing here to see what's going on (without reading near 1,000 posts).

My current equipment is a home-brew vv mod with an 808 connector and Echo Crystal Vision cartomizers with cotton string wicks. I vape mostly tobacco flavors at 24 mg. I'm looking for a good DIY RY4. I also have an 808 VaporLuxe for sale in the classifieds if someone might be interested.

There are quite a few familiar avitars here.

Welcome to the group Cool_Breeze. Always nice when someone new comes through the door. I'm mainly a tobacco flavor fan too - but I'm not DIYer.

. I got so stared at and questioned about my Joye Gear last year it was funny. Mike would never make it down the street with a Provari...

Well I'd rather go through security w/ my Provari than one of these 7mm Calibre from JR Custom Turning. He has a .308 Calibre too. I think they're cool looking and would like one - but it's not in my near future that's for sure. Getting my 3rd provari a few weeks ago, means a long-long time before another PV enters my collection.

I've been through some screening with the ProVari, haven't had a problem yet. The police at the local courthouse sure though it was interesting, but let me through without question when I volunteered to demo it. They passed on it, and I passed through.

You are very welcome :2cool: I just donated my V1 to my sort of son in law....got 2 new ones coming. On the wicks....there was a V2 that had the short wicks. Got Vapes has what they are calling V2.5....has the long wicks. With that one you have a choice. On my V1, I trimmed the wicks to about 1/2"....some people trimmed them shorter.

Even though the Gorilla Juice is 100% VG it wicked up very quickly. The draw surprised me too it was very light, almost choked on my first full puff, wasn't expecting that much vapor from it. Just for the record, I haven't had any issues with leaking so far.

I didn't think vaping could get much better after I got a DCT, but this is an improvement. Thanks again for the recommendation.

I've been using the short wick Stardusts now for 'bout six weeks. Considering my daily rotation, I've cleaned these SDs at least five times each, and they're still working great.

<creeping out on a thin limb> I see NO need to remove the base, clearo tube and coil assembly unless you're gonna replace the coil. At $5 and six weeks thus far, ummm... noper, no coil replacement for me!

My, thus far, successful cleaning method:

Unscrew and remove the mouth piece. DO NOT lose the gasket!
Remove the top tube and silicone cap with tweezers/hemostat. Ya probably will have to 'jiggle' the cap to get it out of the top end/mouth of the clearo.
Repeat flushes with HOT water until there is no joose remaining in the clearo. Be sure to check the bottom of the clearo at da base REAL close.
Shake out as much residual water as possible.
Wipe the clearo batt connector of all water.
Carefully dry burn, pulse on 3-5 sec, wait 3-5 sec. Repeat until there is no vapor/smoke, no sizzling (hold next to hear to confirm) and the coils wraps are red.
Let cool.
Lightly replace cap and tube using tweezers/hemostat to insure the cap edge is NOT caught in the wick slots. Do not press the cap all the way down!
Then reinstall the mouth piece, which will insure the cap is in it's proper location.
Fill, wait for wick saturation and vape your azz off!

Enjoy!

Yea, I definitely would not try taking that through customs... They probably would not allow it. In the Korean customs usually one of them speaks broken English and in the Philippines customs - sometimes things just come up missing... When they are in a rush - they do a mass opening of suitcases and call the owner if they find something they want to question...

That is basically what I do, but I add a 24 hour air dry in the window sill and dry burn after that...
