Well the taxes on smokes here in Canada are outrageous. Lots of brands sell for over $10.00 a pack. Mine worked out at $9.07 when I bought them by the carton. However, I love smoking so much - I never even threatened to quit - no matter how high the cost went. So now that I have just switched brands to vaping - I might eventually save some money :D

ETA: Moishe - that is funny that I am avoinding tanks with cartos and you like them because they are the least fuss for you. I guess we are all so unique in what we find to be the least fuss.

Kari...I did RYO for MANY years & the last few I used pipe tobac because it was so much cheaper; the last tax they imposed was crazy.

It is funny that I held out on the carto/tank set-up because it sounded soooooo complicated for my very simple mind. It was actually Mom & Pop that gifted me w/a carto & I didn't have a clue as to what the darn thing was (I was using tanks & attys at the time) Well, after putting some brain power into this strange looking thing, I filled it & tried it & liked it - only prob was my brain power wasn't strong enough to tell me that the holes in the carto meant it was to go into a tank..DUH! Anyways, that's how it all started & that was after all the attys, burnt clearos, CE2 &3's. It really is so simple......should I mention the panic attack that struck when I had to change the carto out of my tank the first time???!!! Thank goodness for this forum - I'd probably still be trying to figure it out.....It takes approx. 2 seconds & it really is so easy.....you should take the plunge. ;)

Two reasons:
1 I'm COMPLETELY out of my mind and have no life

2 To get a really big nic hit when stress comes-a-calling.
I'm vaping 36mg juice and can barely feel it.

I've no intention of giving up my carto/tanks just yet. As you stated it's just too easy, also
Mike posted some pics of his handy work and made it look easy.

But that's what an expert in any field does, make it look easy.

My sides HURT from laughing....that is toooo funny. Outside of getting nic poisoning, why don't you just get some 100% nic juice & add a drop? It really would be much easier.....BTW...did you ever try putting either white vinegar or whole grain alcohol into your juice - it ups the kick somewhat.

Hah. Never got poisoned and I do chain it. I didn't know about the vinegar trick.
California is full of the softest, whiniest people I've ever encountered (I'm from Missouri)
so it's no surprise pure grain alcohol is banned here in the land of fruits and nuts.

rant off/

Where can I find more details regarding the vinegar kick?

I don't know which is worse...fruits & nuts or bullets & drugs (Michigan --Deeetroit); thank goodness I'm in the burbs, however, it's creeping up on us. I'll see if I can locate the info on the vinegar. I think it was Iffy that put me onto it & I think it's great. It also took many calls to liquor stores to locate the grain alcohol & then I remembered one store on the outskirts of a questionable area that I felt safe enough to venture into & yup..they had it. I'll check into the vinegar now & let you know.....I do remember it was white vinegar for tobac flavors & apple cider vinegar for the fruity flavors......

So alcohol and vinegar somehow increases absorption?
I thought it was a PH thing.

Don't know about the absorption, but, I do know that the vinegar sharpens or enhances the taste of the juice. I never tried the alcohol in my juice. I bought it thinking it would help save some cartos after boiling them & it seems to work pretty good. It's only a few drops of the vinegar in the juice,(or how much you like, or don't). Give it a try, heck if you're going to do RBA - vinegar is nothing!:D

Question..where do y'all get the signature boxes like yours or KariM's or Gloria???

I see that you figured it out. :) I used to one that kept a daily count but it disappeared for some unknown reason. Now I just type that info into the signature part.

Wow...$9 or $10 a pack. I wonder if that price at least keeps young people from starting smoking? I certainly hope so.

You're a hoot! :) How many packs a day did you smoke?

Waves at Gloria :) How do you like your Vision Spinner? I've looked at those and in time may try and get another battery when one of these tornado's die off..which so far they are hanging in there. I am kind of a passthrough freak though....

Old Curmudgeon, I like carts/tanks set ups too :) But I did get brave and order a T3..just to try it out.

Vinegar???? got to read back to see where that started....worth a shot maybe????

Thanks. I'll be here all week. Don't forget to tip your waitress.

How many packs a day did you smoke?
1 PAD ultra lights. You would think I could vape 8mg juice and be set. Nope, tried it.
So far 36mg is the only juice that makes me "even out" as I call it.

Within my DIY experiences, apple cider vinegar (for 'bakky or savory jooses) and lemon juice (for fruit and 'lite' jooses) seem to enhance or 'even out' DIY recipes. As expressed throughout the vaping community, everyone has their own preferences/unique taste buds.

The flav/nic/ACV/LJ/PG-VG ratios possibilities are endless. So once ya find a recipe ya like, don't venture too far from your taste buds in da beginning. TBH, once I'm 'close', I tend to back off. I like to think I'm venturesome, but I also know what I like/prefer. Consequently, I'm probably missing out on developing some universal ultimate fav flav... so, go fer it (and keep us posted)!

Iffy - after cutting the section out with a diamond wheel on the Dremel I did the rest on a bench grinder with a fine stone. First I worked on the edges to get it somewhat square. The again I worked on 'the edges' to start rounding it off. Then from there is was just patience and a light touch working it round and down to size. I had an 1/8" drill bit by the grinder so I could see when I was getting close. Then just kept going little by little 'till it slipped easily into the 1/8" whole of the atty. Then I 'dressed' it by taking the diamond disk off the dremel and passed it along the length of the coil to even it out a bit.

Oh they are fragile. Did I say they are fragile. If I did't let me repeat they are fragile. Broke both of them tonight. I rushed and wrapped the pos lead of the coil clock-wise around the post and when I tightened the screw, it pulled on the wick and snap it broke. The second one I cut a smidgeon to high and when I put the top cap on it hit the top of the coil and broke it.

Ah well - there's aways tomorrow to make more. So glad I don't have to go to the office tomorrow (or ever again!).

ha ha - I know what ya mean. I almost didn't want to give up my last couple smokes per day because then I wouldn't have a reason to carry my Zippo. Had the same one in my pocket for years and years and years - it was my friend. I think I still carried it for a couple weeks, even after my last smoke.

I know EXACTLY what you mean about the Zippo Mike. I have one that my son gave me when he was in the Coast Guard, which he joined at age 17 - he's 30 now and just joined the Army (I think he must plan to try them all LOL). I still keep my Zippo on my night stand like I always have...it's just special, and I gotta say I miss using it every day because it's been with me so long and holds sentimental value. It has a Coast Guard insignia on it of course :D I once left it lying on the table when we left Cracker Barrel restaurant after having supper there. By the time I got back there to get it, they were closed - the manager came to the door and let me tell him what I needed through the locked door. Told me to come back tomorrow. Nuttin doin. He finally gave in and let me in to get it - I wasn't about to leave there without it.

    Hi Constance! Waving-Smiley-1-4.jpg

The Spinner is a winner for me. I especially like the purple one. Funny...until a couple of months ago the colors of the batts didn't really matter to me. :)

The only thing I would change is the hard plastic button. I prefer the softer rubberized button that was on my old KGO. It was just easier on my finger. Hmmm....wonder if they're interchangable?

Well Iffy and Janet...I'm vaping on IffyBerry/Janet's Heaven and must say this is a winner for me. After using so many coffee and dessert vapes, this fruity combination is really refreshing! I mixed it up at 70% VG so its putting out plumes of vapor.

And I saved a little of each of the individual flavors. Going to try adding something... maybe some vanilla bean ice cream to the blueberry. :)

I did some backtracking & found "Vinegar?" in the DIY section. I know it sounds unreal, but, after trying it I'm hooked. I was just reading about some folks using 'malt vinegar' which I've never tried & then the light went off ......GARLIC VINEGAR!! Wonder if that would keep the vampires (and everyone else) away. Enquiring minds want to know....:D

Gloria when you mix with 70% VG do you increase your flavoring % ?

Not usually Kat. But I do usually thin the VG with distilled water or cheap vodka. Unfortunately, I'm out of both at the moment.

One day I may get adventurous and try a 30/70 PG/VG and a 70/30 of the same recipe just to see how much the high VG affects the flavor. Curious minds want to know...right? :D
