@Kat
Got an Evod in today and my initial impression is very good.
- good flavor & vapor
- easy to fill
- really like the size and the mouthpiece
- draw is to my liking (not too airy, not too tight)
- purple matches my purple Spinner perfectly

Sure hope it doesn't have any gremlins in it. ;)

Got it on your recommendation....so thank you!!!

Had my first DIY session yesterday after snagging my final need, a gallon of PG which I picked up at the TSC store for $21.00 bucks ..

The first thing I'll say is my lab ingredients are going to go a long long way .. other than the flavorings .. in fact, after getting into it for a while, I started thinking why did I buy a gallon each of PG / VG .. it may go bad before I fully use it .. especially the VG ..

120ml of 48mg nic solution in PG .. start
add 120ml of PG .. cuts to 24mg nic .. results in 240ml
add 240ml PG .. cuts to 12mg nic .. results in 480ml
add 240ml PG / 240ml VG .. cuts to 6mg .. results in 960ml

Can someone tell me if that looks right .. ??

and I don't really know what the ratio of PG / VG is in that at the end ..

Then, I realized that I did not account for flavoring in the final mix as far as nic level goes .. so my concoctions are less than 6mg nic .. oh well ...

Also .. when I finished diluting the nic solution, I just shook it up several times in order to mix it in with the raw PG / VG .. when I started measuring out what was going to go into the final bottle, I noticed quite a few tiny air bubbles in it .. I guess that's normal .. ??

I took good notes, labeled each bottle with a temporary label and now I will allow them to sit for a week or two ..

I'm so proud of you. :)

Zap update. Got rid of the offending menthol and filled with Janet's Heaven. Still working and still has taste.

I am so glad that you got that darn thing working!

Wow, you have all been busy today :)

@Fran - so nice to hear that you won the battle over the Zap. I sure hope it keeps on working for you. I read about you sitting outside yesterday and contemplating its demise, I am happy it survived.

@Gloria - wow you are really getting into the re-building. First a new coil and now re-wicking T3's. I guess sometimes you just have to jump in :) Something else to add to my things to try - I have a T3 that the coil was still working - but all the wick sort of fell out when I was giving it a wash. Just one more thing in that box of stuff to deal with  Good news on the Evod, I hope you keep liking it and no gremlins.

@Uncle Willie - looks like you are making a good DIY start. I have dabbled a bit, I did a peaches & cream and an RY4 that both were ok. Not sure I am real happy with either, although I did add some of the peppermint mix that I am still liking to the remainder of the peaches & cream I had in my Evod and that was actually not bad.

I am going to work on using up some of the pre-bought juice I have before I try too many more - at least that is how I am feeling this week.

@Flower - I am with you on the peppermint. Not sure if it is just one of the easier ones to do - but for now it is the one I am liking the most of those I have tried.

@ all the others - lots of good DIY tips today. I am taking notes and I thank UW for starting the discussion. As always, lots of great help.

No dirt storms here - although we do get some awful ones. Instead we had a nasty snow storm blow through yesterday. At one point I could not see out of any of my windows - regardless of what direction they faced. Got so bad that they actually closed most/all highways in southern Alberta for several hours. This was after us being warmer on Saturday than Ocala Florida - my SIL was complaining because this is where she was for a wedding. Of course I just love it when we are warmer than she is in Florida at this time of year......

Hey guys...have you seen this thread? I just tried it and it worked!

I used a piece of nichrome wire as the threader rather than a thread of the cheesecloth. Made it easier to thread the coil. Tested at 2.0 ohms after rewicking. Great taste and vapor. But it's gurgling. Hmmm...maybe remove some of those top strands?

This is the needle threader my mother used. You can still get them and I'm pretty sure I've got 1 or 2 around here somewhere.

COOL!
First thing I noticed when I first started to use the ZAP was that the flavor was really intensified.
Everything must be correct, wick must be wicking and all coils firing with no shorts at the base (which is easy to do just ask me!)
The first re-coil make sure that the wick is not being pulled over to the bottom post (bottom coil) or it will wick very slow and the taste will be weird. This was the most important thing I found that was wrong once its wicking properly you do not have to tilt it at a very extreme angle if you do taste will suffer. Also keep playing with the position of the airhole this can also make a huge difference in taste and throat hit.
I am glad you got yours working and I hope that this might help in a small way!

Dean

Oh just wanted to add this,
I have done a 1.7, 2.2 & 2.6 OHM coil and I am happy with 1.7 at 3.7 volts very nice clean vape and great taste. At the higher OHM & voltage the taste suffers a tiny bit IMO but loads of vapor so its a small trade off.

Okay Janet, now I have to dig through my wifes sewing box... Great idea...

Hey Semi...if you're like me and can't find the one that SHOULD be in your sewing kit...some thin fishing line is a great substitute if you don't have any thin wire laying around. Of course a thread of the cheesecloth can be used too...but it's so wimpy, it makes threading the coil a little frustrating...at least for me it did. :)

Please let us know if you rewick the T3 and what you think of it.

Oops, that scream you will hear in a few hours will be the husband, when he finds out I placed yet another order, after telling him I was 'done for now'....What...I"m almost out of menthol, and SmokTek was having a sale on it. Of course I had to make it worth my while besides the big bottle! Got a knucklehead drip tip in purple and the ego/501 adapter I've been eyeing.

Look on the bright side Kari...you didn't have to waste any time removing the old wick. Heh. :)

Cheesecloth will be included. ;)
