I would file a complaint with the station immediately. The cop will get desk duty and never think about being such a jerk again. I know this from experience =) Not that i was in the same situation, but that i was treated horribly by an officer when i was well within the law and he was not let out in a cruiser for a while after i spoke with the sergeant and filed a complaint.

edit: Unless you didnt get his badge number, but if it happens again, you know what to do!

Yeah? I have seen them making kids pour out beer, but I am thinking DRUGS as the officer stated. I can't see an officer dumping a bag of 'this N that' in the street... I don't even know the names for stuff now >.< This N that'll have to do :p

I live in Southern California, they can be a little more laxed here than some other states. We have a heavy Border Patrol presence here ( Federal Agents ) and they do the same.

I would be so ...... off if that happened to me. I don't think carrying an unmarked bottle is illegal. I mean after all we use coffee mugs and water bottles that are unmarked. You could just as easy put something illegal in those as well as put something illegal in a marked bottle. So what the heck is the difference. I would have stated that. Yup I would have mouthed off hard. And told him that I was going to sue for harassment. And that he better just take me in and test my juice. I am super ...... now. I would totally sue him. I want to meet this cop. I want to have him harass me so I can sue him HARD. What a total jerk.

In some jurisdictions, a GD sticker is "probable cause"....

When I first moved to Northern VA, in 1987, I had a fully-restored 1969 VW Bettle. It was nearly show-room original, and I had short hair and was clean-shaven. I am OBSESSIVE about following traffic laws, and I would get pulled over once a month--for the first year or so--for no reason. I would get bogus explanations like I had a tail light out (which I would always ask the officer to show me which one it was so I coul dgo immediately to the auto parts store and fix it--but for some reason, when we'd go around back the car to look at it, it always started working mysteriously...)

It was because had a GD sticker in my rear window.

A few years later, when I took the sticker out, and grew my hair out long, and had replace the front fenders and hood with parts from other colored Beetles because of an accident with a deer, the bogus cop stop ceased--NOT because I somehow looked more respectable or became a better driver, or my car was in better condition--because NONE of these thins were true.

It was because I didn't have a GD sticker in my car, I am convinced of it...

I would like to ask all those that are as indignant as I am about the treatment of this girl to please submit your comments to the FDA, regarding e-cig use and what it has done for you, that has been posted in that Yellow box at the top of this page. The more of us that are raising our voices, the better chance we have of being heard.

Thank you to the ones that have :) and PLEASE take the time to the ones that haven't ;)

Wow, that is truly unfortunate. The cop was obviously in the wrong here. You are innocent until proven guilty. They have to prove that it is drugs in your bottle.
I got pulled over and while the LEO was running my license and CCW i was vaping my silver bullet. He came back up to the window and said "what the hell is that thing". I said it was an Electronic cigarette and went through the whole presentation. If i was asked to dump a bottle of juice i would have politely said no. Run a narc. test on it if you want but it ain't going anywhere. I respect LEOs but when they go past their scope of duty i have an issue.

Cops don't always know the law as well as they'd like to think.

You people are just NOT getting it...

This cop DID NOT think it was contraband in her PV. He KNEW it was legal.

If he had thought it was contraband, he would NOT have made her pour it out, because that would have been "destroying evidence". And if he KNEW it was drugs, and instructed her to "destroy the evidence" that makes him guilty of "tampering with a crime scene", "destroying evidence" and "conspiracy to conceal a crime"--ALL of which could be felonies, depending on the quantity of illicit substances we are talking about.

Cops ONLY commit felonies when they are making money off it, or are covering up OTHER felonious activities.

This cop is just a sociopath, a power-freak, and a bully. The next young woman he pulls over may find herself losing a LOT more than her juice. HE needs to be stopped before he goes TOTALLY off the rails and hurts someone.

File a formal report. Establish a pattern. Go to the press if you have to.

This cop is a ticking time-bomb, and this sort of behavior is indicative of a trend of action that leads to some very dark and evil places. The next young woman he pulls over and bullies may not be as lucky as the OP was...

This cop will end up like THESE cops if he isn't stopped...

If I got a "nasty cop" I would get arrested and have drug charges on my record and that I could lose my license.
Wow, if he isn't a "nasty cop", I'm not sure I'd want to meet one
As for the "drug charges" bit, a handful of tests on your PV and a blood test would get the whole bit thrown out
E-cigs are about to get banned altogether, because they're more commonly used for illegal drugs than anything else, he said
Pardon my french but, Horse. S***.

Yeah that's crazy. It's tough to react appropriately when you're in the heat of the moment but I wish you would have gotten his badge number or something so that later you could report him because that is completely uncalled for and not right.

I used to smoke and I got to say switching to vaping has made my life so much better, I don't know where I'd be right now without it. Anyone who says smoking tobacco is better is completely out of their mind and needs to be informed properly

(MODERATED POST)

I've been pulled over a few times..usually asked if I got any weapons...I drive a work van..lets see..got 2 crow bars, hammers, razor knives, sazall, lunch box with my wife's cooking in it, shovel, all would be considered a weapon if I hit someone with them...but just say no....just to keep from spending more time explaining...I have always wanted to use that old joke line...”I am the weapon, everything I touch is but a tool”
I switched to the needle drip tips, only because I did not want to explain having a syringe, blunt tip or not if I got pulled over. Especially since I like to fill up my carts when I stop at red lights...just pictured someone going OMG he’s shooting up right in front of us..OMG honey do something. As for the unlabeled bottle of “drugs”, well coffee is a drug and my travel mug sure isn't labeled!

My only suggestion is carry a labeled bottle in your car even if it is empty for next time

My only suggestion would be to get a voice-recording app on your smartphone, and to turn it on RECORD the next time you get pulled over, or approached by a cop on the street and record the entire encounter.

I believe the OP is from Florida, and in Florida, you are allowed to record "in-person" conversations as long as YOU are one of the people talking, and they are in a public place where there is no "reasonable expectation of privacy" like on a public sidewalk or during a traffic stop.

Florida Recording Law | Citizen Media Law Project

If an LEO ever did this to me, I would be making copies of the recording and sending them to the Chief of Police, the State Attorney General and ALL the local media, as well as posting it on YouTube.

And then I would let the Chief know that unless this officer was not kicked off the force within 30 days, the next communication they would hear from me would be a Federal Civil Rights Violation lawsuit notification.

You can't tippy-toe around with cops like this--they are time bombs just WAITING to "go off" on innocent citizens, and they need to be tossed off the force before they hurt someone...

along with maybe a buisness card-like hand out that states & explains what vaping is, heck take a handful down to that cops station, sounds like the boys needs some leases put on their overly aggressive grasshoppers
