"Although I don't understand why anyone who has nothing to hide would dislike all police."

God, I hate that this statement has become a lexicon in our society. "Nothing to hide" implies everyone does, so it's OK to have your rights abused as long as the perception is safety.

And it's not all police. I don't think anyone dislikes all police.

I do believe that the drug war has been a failure in that it has been the instigator of distrust between cops and the communities they are hired to protect and I also believe that it places many a cop in dangerous situations for basically nothing. The drug war also encourages corruption at all levels within the law enforcement community. For every good thing it does, it does something equally or more disastrous. (And sorry to anyone in advance whom the DEA has allowed to become destructive addicts)

It's just that statement all by itself that makes me, an America citizen through and through, sick to my stomach.
