I think it's like this:

Either the atty-in-a-magnet assembly snaps into the batt, or the magnet-adapter snaps into the batt. They are both magnets, thus the confusion.

When Bad is talking about "plopping" things into the batt without needing a magnet, he means that these things will have a magnet of their own, without needing an adapter-magnet. Am I right, Bad?

Yes, that's what I have - but the cap/tank punches/snaps into that metal magnetized tank, and the magnetized tank plops onto battery via magnet.

Not sure what you mean by "extension" magnet.

Most tank/atty systems require the atty to be connected into an eGo skirt, and fit on an eGo connector (like the eGo T or eGo C). Using those on any non-eGo battery require an adapter. This is what the "tank" pushes in to. The eGo C, for instance, is an eGo cone style housing, where the atty screws into the bottom, and the atty/housing combo is screwed onto an eGo connector. You push the "tank" into the top of that.

The tank/atty combo on the iTaste is a native magnetic connection, and doesn't require an eGo/510/808 adapter to be used. The magnetic housing is where the atty plugs into, and you just push the tank into it. No adapter is needed, as the tank is a native connection.

So, he is just telling us that it is a native connection, and the tank is fitted to work without any adapter.

Ok, that makes sense to me now .

I was a woodworker for many years and used rare earth magnets in many of the boxes I created. The magnetic force of these magnets is much greater than your typical refrigerator ceramic type magnet. I recommend you take care and not get this magnet too close to your credit card because it may demagnetize the strip. Also keep it away from a pacemaker. I don't think these magnets are big enough to create any problems but I just wanted to point that out.

"Rare-earth magnets are strong permanent magnets made from alloys of rare earth elements. Developed in the 1970s and 80s, rare-earth magnets are the strongest type of permanent magnets made, producing significantly stronger magnetic fields than other types such as ferrite or alnico magnets. The magnetic field typically produced by rare-earth magnets can be in excess of 1.4 teslas, whereas ferrite or ceramic magnets typically exhibit fields of 0.5 to 1 tesla. There are two types: neodymium magnets and samarium-cobalt magnets. Rare earth magnets are extremely brittle and also vulnerable to corrosion, so they are usually plated or coated to protect them from breaking and chipping."

Thanks antfuzz. I already thought about the credit card. I was having one of those Duh.....? moments last night when I did that.

LOL The same thing happened to me - sort of. I put the iTaste down on my desk, and when I picked it up again, all sorts of things were stuck to it. And for just a moment, I was, like, WHA???:facepalm::D

Do you think they know now that we want COLOR?

Yeah, it's amazing - even the guys are into it. There are still, like, 20 left of black and white (though white is pretty - maybe it's not "manly" enough for the weaker sex lol), and the chameleon kit is all gone.

So - did you play with it in the sunlight yet? Isn't the color/s amazing? And it works like a charm - I just love it. I'm keeping my fingers, toes, eyes and my dog's paws, crossed that it's longevity matches its aesthetics and functionality.

Yuppers! Even had my grandaughter take it outside to see how pretty it is. Like you, I've got everything crossed that it's got a good life span. If not I guess I'll just have to pony up for new batteries. I was just waiting for something like this that was elegant to look at as well as functional. I know that a great number of people love the provari but for me it won't be something I'll ever get as I just don't find it attractive in appearance. :)
Maybe...........if they made it in color?

Mmmmeh... At tube is a tube is a tube, even in color. LOL The Provari is utilitarian, to me (lots of men-folk like it though, and I can see why, it looks like a tool), but it's extremely reliable, safe and useful. I'm glad I got it, ultimately, but I won't go gallivanting around town with it either.

There are some few tubular mods that are neat-looking, I think, but not a lot.
