I'm more of a football fan than a baseball fan but I'll give it a shot:

1. Pride of the Yankees - Gary Cooper
2. The Natural - Robert Redford, Kim Bassinger, Glen Close
3. The Rookie - Dennis Quaid (one of my favorites)
4. Field of Dreams - Kevin Costner
5. Major League - Tom Berringer, Wesley Snipes, Rene Russo
6. Mr. Baseball - Tom Sellick
7. Eight Men Out - John Cusak, Charlie Sheen
8. A League of Their Own - Tom Hanks
9. The Stratton Story - Jimmy Stewart, June Alison
10. 61 - Barry Pepper, Thomas Jane
wv...I had mostly all of those picked myself....but would have included Bull Durham...The Bad News Bears(original) and The Sandlot!...I am glad you had Pride of the Yankee's #1 that was my choice also!:)The Wiz!

Ok Kendra......Here is one everyone will enjoy(I hope)....Your top 10 Disaster Films(some films are a disaster themselves...but actual, crash, bang and burn ones here)!Lets see what you have!:)The Wiz!

Now there's a catagory I can get behind - nothin' better than a disaster flick!!!!

Off the top of my head:

Daylight
Volcano
Day after Tomorrow
Towering Inferno
Meteor
Cloverfield

I'm gonna have to dig through my movies at home to come up with more...:D

The Day the Earth Caught Fire
On the Beach (on of my all time 'favorites'-- even the remake which I think was better)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (the original with Donald Sutherland)

These are my top three, for sure!

If you haven't seen On the Beach, you really should.

Read the book and saw the first movie with Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner and Fred Astaire. Enjoyed both.

Kendra....I have seen On The Beach(at least the version with Gregory Peck and Eva Gardner)...I didn't know there was a remake..I will have to look for it!...The Book was amazing also...I first read it many many years ago!....I think I would consider Invasion of the Body Snatchers more Sci-Fi than Disaster(plus the one you mentioned was the remake..the original starred Kevin McCarthy). The one scene where Donald Sutherland lets out that Howl still scares me..lol!:)The Wiz!

Wiz, I bet half the people reading this don't know who Gary Cooper, Jimmy Stewart or June Alison are. The Golden Age of Cinema I think is mostly forgotten. (not that I was around for it but from TV and listening to my parents)

OMG, my little five year old watched it with us a few weeks ago (we hadn't seen it in years and my daughter's a real trooper, so it's okay). And, for days afterwards she'd point her finger and do the howl. Oh, she's so funny. I should get that on video and post it.

I forgot it wasn't the original, but I never saw the original. I have read all Jack Finney's books though, and those are great. .. this one's really unusual compared to his other ones.

Kendra.....The original is quite good...Carolyn Jones(from Addams Family fame)is in it as well....You would recognise Keven McCarthy from the film...he was quite a "role actor" in his day...appeared in a few episodes of "The Twilight Zone"...and many other tv shows!...Would love to see that video if you ever post it...LOL..:)The Wiz!

Those and...

AIRPORT (1970)(Flew for the very first time after seeing this movie. I was 10 and scared as hell!)

Twister

The Day After (ABC made-for TV)

And these two which some like and some don't, they are a bit cheesey...

Armageddon (LOVED Steve Buscemi in this)

Deep Impact (Plausible Government response....although I don't think we would get as much notice as they did in the movie.:p)

Almost afraid to admit I know who they are...

Does anyone else have those days where you sit and watch the old classics in black and white?
