Hi Everyone!

First post here in Emerald City...nice library you got here!

Does anyone have a Kindle? I have one and it is great, but the problem is I am always ready about 6 or 7 books at one. It's nice that I can carry all the book around with me at one time in a small package.........

I received a Kindle last year and I love being able to download the samples first. I'm like you, I have multiple books going at once.

Elendil....I just love the feel of a book in my hands...hence no kindle for me...and I am always in the middle of 5 or 6 books at once...I am planning on finishing one later this year..lol:)The Wiz!

Books are my treasures. Since I received the Kindle, I read the book there and when I find one I really like I will usually get the hardbound edition to keep. I like to re-read books after a while has passed, gives me a new perspective and I always miss something first pass through.

For what it's worth, I'm in the middle of "A prisoner of birth" by Jeffrey Archer. Quite good. But then again, most of Archers' books are!
BTW... way back about page 1 or 2 there was a mention of the "Pern" series. That has to be one of my favorite series of all time! I was impressed that it was brought up again after all this time!

I revisit the world of Pern every 3 or so months.....depending on how many new books I've bought lately.....right now I'm reading the River God books by Wilbur Smith.....as a kid I was fascinated by Egypt in the time of the Pharohs, and just never got over it....and these books are set in that time....if you haven't already, look them up....excellent read.

Dang it... I really don't know if I can hang around here without getting my library card repossessed, due to my talkative nature.

Imagine, a woman who likes to talk! Who'd ever thunk it! LOL ;)

I never really got into the classics.....The rebel in me, I guess.

And Moby Richard just doesn't have the same ring....
LOL.....Yes I agree Vicks..that really doesn't sound good at all!!..I just picked those books that I would give to someone who didn't read at all...and had little time left in this world!....if They told me what type of material they liked to read I would improvise based on thier taste! Some of the classics are a bore...and some are still fun to read!:)The Wiz!

What 10 books. . . hmmm. .. some that i really think are important are also kind of very controversial, so I'll leave those off my list. But, I could whittle those down to two really important non-mentionable books.

okay- the other 8?
1984 George Orwell
Confederacy of Dunces - John Kennedy Toole
Huckleberry Finn (I love this too!)
A Town Like Alice - Neville Shute
Harry Potter series (funfunfun)

I'm stuck. How can I decide, you know? Is it just pleasure, or importance, or what. .. ?

I think I should maybe put all the Sherlock Holmes stories on there, but I'm not really sure.

Kendra.......Are you sure you are from Nashville??Almost all of your TV and Books picks are either from the UK or Australia..LOL..Neville Shute..Back to On the Beach again are we?....he is/was a talented author without a doubt!:)The Wiz!

Yes, I always say I want to convert to English! When I used to read more period stuff (especially Thomas Hardy! OMG, Mayor of Casterbridge is one of the best books ever! And, the movie with Ciaran Hinds- if you haven't seen this, you have to see this) I'd always say this.

But, I want to convert to English Aristocracy. . . . I do not want to be a peasant!

lol
