I have a friend who I work with who just started vaping and wants me to make some juice for him (I have no problem making juice for friends). The problem is that he has never smoked a traditional cigarette and is in no way addicted to nicotine in any way or even needs to be vaping due to his smoke free past.

So my question to everyone is what would you do and how do you feel about people picking up vaping when they are not a habitual nicotine user in the past? I feel like I would be contributing to an unnecessary habit forming and I don't want to do that.

Hey Ron,

I personally don't have any issues with someone who wants to vape for the flavor. My S.O. never smoked, but will vape occasionally to stave off unnecessary snacking. This is only *MY* personal opinion - don't know your exact circumstances. I don't think that vaping will lead to smoking. If your buddy is over the legal age to acquire vaping gear, it's *HIS* choice.... You're just giving him an opportunity to have really good juices at little cost. You have the right to tell him no - that's *YOUR* choice.

Perhaps you should visit some of the Diet forums.

People trying to quit smoking are not exclusive to Vaping. We are the Vaping with Nic nich. :)

In fact, here is a Vaping Ripoff........err...........Diet Vaping ad

http://vapordiet.blogspot.com/2013/11/vaping-diet.html

I'll agree with the curbing of appetite, but not the claim of being good for diabetics. Since vaping, we've had to have my diabetic meds adjusted due to increased glucose levels from the juice. It's not that big of a jump in glucose, but enough to adjust the meds a bit.

I'd be alright with it. If I'd encourage someone to try vaping 0mg for sweet-tooth satisfaction (speculation, never tried it and they knew it) then I guess I could justify vaping for any reason. It's not like you can see the nicotine in the vapor - who knows, maybe half of the people you see vaping in public are 0mg vapers! That possibility changes my opinion a little. Live and let live, I guess!

no harmful drugs in their future recreational habit? low harm, low foul. i might consider that i'd be helping them fill a curiosity in the likely least harmful way possible.

they could be taking up smoking, or worse instead.

This exactly. He could be a non-smoker asking you to roll him his first ever cigarette. Whether you mix him some juice or not is totally up to you, but as for him, there are far worse habbits he could be taking up.

OP, you never said if your friend wanted no-nic or nicotine e-liquid. Does that matter to you and would it influence your decision? You said he has already been vaping, so its not like you are introducing him to something new, he's already doing it. As someone else said, it's your choice alone whether to make him some e-liquid or not.

I know a couple who are local championship-level body builders who vape as an appetite suppressment while training for a competition. During training prior to a competition, they are on very strict diets and they use flavors to curb a desire for sweets.

My daughter vapes 0-nic flavors, and never was a smoker. All her friends smoked, as well as her BF and older brother. She said she felt out of place (young adult peer pressure) while everyone sat around just smoking. She asked for her own mod setup for her birthday. Recalling this was the age and situation where I began smoking myself, I began seeing the logic of her vaping zero nic flavors. If I could help her to not start smoking, wouldn't that be a good thing? In the year since she has been vaping her BF, brother, and a few of her friends have begun vaping to stop smoking.

Adults have the right to make choices which may affect their health. You have the right to choose what you do.

I love my mother more than anyone on this earth, and she needs to lose weight. Her downfall is she gives in easily to snacking temptation. I've asked her if she'd like to try Vaping as a means to curb her appetite. I'd put her on a 0 nic vape in a heartbeat if she were interested. She's not a smoker. I don't see any harm in it. So my opinion is that if a person is an adult and wants to vape, even if that person isn't a smoker, he or she can do whatever he or she wants to do.

"no nicotine" as it says in the title it completely different from "never smoked a traditional cigarette".

For all you know, maybe he has a girlfriend or maybe his mother is a smoker and he's partly interested in getting them to convert to vaping.

That's the primary reason I vape, even though I smoked as well.

A lot of people started smoking because of food, or lack thereof. Or as my ex used to say, "It's a lot easier to bum a smoke than bum a cheese sandwich."

Now it's so I don't snack or drink soda. And drinking stuff is my big 'addiction'. I'll wake up in the middle of the night to get a drink. I pretty much always have some beverage with me, 24/7. In the car, at work, in class, everywhere. Vaping makes it a lot easier, for me, to tolerate drinking lightly flavored water or iced tea instead of soda.

Not to mention the whole snacking thing. Instead of eating, I vape. I know I managed to cut at least 500 calories a day out of my diet, probably a great deal more ... and keep it there. It used to be, after a week or two of getting my calorie count down, I'd get so hungry I'd go right back to the food.

So yeah, it does work, quite well. Especially for avoiding carbs.

After I had vaped for awhile, my hubs, who never smoked, wanted to try it. He was always intrigued by how it smelled. So, he does vape 0mg now on occasion, because he enjoys it. He also goes to vapemeets with me. And he can describe the features of all my mods and toppers. And he has learned enough that he can help newbies.

Not smoking is not the only reason that people vape. I find nothing wrong with that.

I probably should clarify my position on vaping. If it contains nicotine, it should be used for nicotine replacement therapy, such as for my 40 year addiction to cigarettes. Non-nicotine vaping is at your discrection, and is much safer than tobacco-water .... sessions the kids seem to like now. Tobacco contains 70 cancerous agents, that flood your bloodstream every time you take a puff. Let's not confuse the two.

Nicotine is no worse than caffeine. It has many beneficial attributes especially with the brain but infections. Just google nicotine benefits. Its a strong anti-depressant. The Native Americans knew that tobacco whas good for you

That said there are a lot of very light smokers on here who "quit" buy switching to vaping. It took the full 24mg/ml juice to get me off analogs. Many here are vaping 9mg/ml. IMHO if you some less than a pack a day of ultralights you might as well stop cold turkey. I don't see how under 10 mg/ml ejuice does anything to prevent on from smoking analogs, those weren't hooked to begin with
