I can vouch for these caps being top notch work having 2 myself. With the lower air hole, you no longer need "The_Great"'s mod to raise the coil to get more flavor/vapor. The 510 DT hole is just a bonus!

Im really digging that SS tank, anyone know where to get them?

I may check with a local tubing company and see if they can get metric tubing, i know standard tube isnt that expencive, 20ft. Of 3/4" 304L SS is like $50, and i could cut roughly 240 SS tanks out of a 20ft stalk, and the tube would be the same dimentions as the stock tank 20mm x 2mm so no additional orings would be needed

Hey everybody. I'm eagerly awaiting my first Orion 2.1 in the mail & am planning on reading every post on this thread, but don't want to devote my entire weekend to it... at least I can't THIS weekend. I've already ordered & received the drip cap as pictured above & am actually on the list for Sotong's custom orion drip shield as well. I've ordered Kanthal in various diameters and ss 500 sheets.

What I am wondering is where in this post can I read about the "great" mod to raise the post to make the most from the hole in the stock cap? I'm sure there's a bunch more tweaks I'll pick up but this was one I am unfamiliar with.

All you need is 2 m2 nuts .you can get them on eBay for $ 3 for 20 of them

All you do is use a spacer in this case 2 m2 nuts and use as a spacer on the terminal to increase the height. IMHO i would try without using the terminal mod. I personally dont need it, I just wrap my coil high and that works for me.

Just pmed him, said it a short did tank

Yes, it's a Short DID tank with DID o-rings replacing the stock ones, and a 3rd o-ring (one of the stock ones) at the base to completely seal the tank as the DID ones are a little too small. The siam ones do also work, but good luck getting one of them. Oh, and I hand brushed the tank and the Orion to match using some fine sanding sponges from Harbor Freight. Someone else PM'd me about that and I forgot to mention it.

If you have a lathe to cut them down, I have a project for you! :) LOL. One of the problems you'll run into is that the stock o-rings vary between versions depending on whether it was the later 2.1 pyrex tank ones vs. the earlier plexi tanks vs. the retrofitted glass tanks from Terry on UKV. I've also had tanks vary in internal diameter between 15.7mm and 16.4mm, YMMV. Lastly, the height is different between 1.0, 1.1a/b, 2.0 and 2.1, so it might be tough to offload 240 SS tanks.

It's less impressive than it looks. It's just messy with wick fragments, broken toothpicks I use for "PetarK" coils, bits of used kanthal, misc. allen keys, some of my kids' toys in various stages of repair, and bent paperclips for wrapping mesh and making replacement springs for my GGTS.

I feel ya and didn't know about the differant ID depending on when it was made, do not have a lathe, but i am a pipefitter and have access to many cutting tools. As far as the ID goes orings are cheap amd thats all that would need to be replaced to use the SS tank. I do understand that 240 tanks is alot to unload and was just stating that the material only comes in 20ft lengths, and it will make that many tanks. Im gonna personally make them for me and a few close friends and if people want them then i will sell them, Im not here to make a profit just wanna help people get what not readilly available.

Question for the other Orion users. I am not new to the Orion or genisis by any means, but this problem is new to me. I finally got some #500 last night and today built a solid wick, and 1.4Ω coil on my V2. It wicks great and vapes well but has a weird problem. When not a full tank it is bubbling, and when I fill the tank and use it, the liquid sucks right up into the atty chamber. Ten it starts leaking out from the threads and out over everything. Never experienced this before. I have heard of the "straw" effect, but this is ridiculous! Any ideas?

Sorry bro.....not having that problem here. Anytime I hear bubbling I think the coil is to loosely wrapped but I know your skilled at wrapping coils so that rules that out. I find I don't have to tip as much with the 500 mesh, so is it possible that your continuing to tip normally and reducing your tip angle may fix your huge flooding issue?

Not much help here.....

Hey ya Crypto. Its fixed :). My top o-ring was not sealing good. Air was literally going into the tank and sucking liquid up into the chamber. Replaced it. All good now. #500 mesh, and no tipping. Its wicking awesome, no tipping, just vaping it at about 5 o'clock, button up, wick is to the left actually, and not a dry hit to be found. I am sold on 500 mesh, though the TH seems to be down some. But that could be the GJ, I dont vape it much anymore and this is the last I have. Once I get something else in it, I'll get a better idea of the TH.
