Kinda dark, but it's the Ovale v8 beside a mini Lavatube.. :D

Good to remember

Thanks, DavidTop!

And, again, thank you, YourFired!

The V8 is shorter than the Lavatube, I find that the buttons on the V8 are a lot more sensitive.

I have and like both but unless you can always remember to turn the V8 off I recommend the lavatube.

It would be a different story if you didn't want to carry it.

A poorly designed battery compartment with flimsy springs and a recessed connection that limits which batteries can be used and which doesn't close properly are real flaws with the V8. On the other hand, I haven't seen a variable voltage mod that works for this price (but I'll admit I haven't looked at solid metal tubes that use 18650s as they are too heavy for me.) At this price, if they work well for a year, I'll feel I got my money's worth. And the speed with which this industry is evolving, in a year they'll be obsolete anyway.

I say "they" because I just bought another one. So I needed to buy two more sets of batteries (I'll have 1 set in each and one set charging.) There seems to be a run on AW IMR 18350s. If you're looking, here are the prices I found while googling. (I've only heard of about half of these sites. Some of them could be sleazoid scam artists. So pick with care.)

The discount codes are in parentheses after the names. All of the discount codes, except LightHound's, come from - ECF Electronic Cigarette Coupon codes

Price with coupon
lighthound.com (cpf = 2%) $7.35 sold out
supertmanufacturing.com $7.59 sold out
empiremods.com (Vapetv = 5%) $7.59
ecigma.com $7.59
puresmoker.com $7.99
vaporcigzz.com $7.99
overready.com $8.00
vaporkings.com (VKBC = 10%) $8.06
thehouseofvapor.com (vf = 10%) $8.09

The following have them for $8.95 or higher:
peakvapor.com
discountvapor.com (sold out)
goodejuice.com (ECF10 = 10%)
electronicstix.com
kalamazoovaporshop.com
delawarevapor.com

LightHounds has always been my go-to place for any batteries they carry. They usually aren't the cheapest, but they are competitive and have great service. If they weren't sold out, I wouldn't have looked any further.

Thanks for the info on LightHounds...I have an eye on mods for the future, and they sound like a good source for batts.

Vaporcigzz.com is forever off my list of vendors. I purchased 20 Vision short wick clearomizers. After filling three with new juice, I noticed hairline cracks in the plastic near the base of another three I had opened, but had not yet filled. These cracks are 1/16th to 1/8th long. Two were leaking the next day. I explained the situation to the company via email, but their suggestion was that my juice had caused the cracks, also suggesting that I carefully vett my companies, making sure that they use 99.9% Kosher ingredients. Accepted no responsibility whatsoever. Among the companies I order from are BWB, Vermillion River, Alien Visions, Highbrow, Mom & Pop...all of which have been vetted many times by many customers on ECF.

So I checked the 14 clearomizers which had not been opened...hairline cracks on all but 1, maybe 2. Of the 20 clearomizers, 85% were cracked, and 33% of the ones used so far are leaking. I sent a second email to the company, and haven't received any response.. Okay, lesson learned again...buyer beware. I'm a bit sorry for the off topic vent/rant, but when a company sells an obviously defective product, blames the problem on the customer, then takes no responsibility, it should be noted. I hope they enjoy the 72.80 because they'll never see another cent from me.

Now, back to consider my order of a V8 :)

No problem, Lettucehead. The V8 is an awesome little device but I usually keep it at home, protected in a cell phone case. At the current price of $29.99, it's quite a value. If I had to choose, I'd keep my V8 over the Lavatube mini. Just because I have lots of other smaller devices to take with me on the go.

I was JUST wondering which I would buy if I bought. I have a full size vtube, and I have taken to carrying it...thought about a mini. Then I see the V8 thread this morning...now I am thinking. I really don't need either, but they really are cheap for both...and I'd get either "bare" and get a charger that will do both types of batteries I would then have.

The people at CandlePower Forum (they're flashlight fanatics) love LightHounds. EmpireMods was the only place that had the AWs when I ordered my 2nd V8. They're an authorized dealer, good price and got me the batteries immediately.

I'm finding the V8 very NOT fragile for carrying around. On my eGos, hitting the button 5 times sometimes works, sometimes I have to do it a few times to turn the battery off. On this, 5 taps and it's off; 5 taps and it's on. So I turn it off and throw it in my purse or my pocket. It holds an atomizer well with no wobbling so all is well. (I haven't tried tossing it in my purse with a tank yet. That will come.)

I ordered the black rubberized kit with extra batteries this morning. Will probably ship today. Beginning to look as though I'll have new juice and a new toy for the weekend :)

The V8 will be my first vv device. Glad I found this thread, and Eric/Discount Vapes is excellent with communication and FAST shipping!

You will be in vaping heaven my friend!

Question...

For those that ordered the "kit", is the included charger able to charge an 18650? If not, when I pull the trigger I will order body only and a charger that accomodates both battery sizes. If I do that, any charger suggestions from personal experience?

No. Do yourself a favor and buy an inexpensive but still really good charger, the Xtar WP2-II. Get two extra spacers for using it with the 18350 batteries.

Same thing I did. I got 2 sets of AW's, the spacers, a LiPoSAFE bag and the WP2-II from RTD Vapor. It was the cheapest single shipper to get the whole set from. Works great. I do recommend strapping the batteries in the charger, though, as they aren't held very tight by the cradle. I use a velcro cable management strip.

Does anybody know what kind of batteries come with the kit Ovale?
Are they protected or AW?

Seems like the kit may be the better buy with a couple of batteries (if they're good batteries)....

Hmmmm...
I wonder if I could get Eric to swap out the black in the kit for the pink...

They're okay ICR 18350 900mah. I think the red AW's are supposed to last longer. I have those too, they all seem the same to me
