Same thing I did. I got 2 sets of AW's, the spacers, a LiPoSAFE bag and the WP2-II from RTD Vapor. It was the cheapest single shipper to get the whole set from. Works great. I do recommend strapping the batteries in the charger, though, as they aren't held very tight by the cradle. I use a velcro cable management strip.

I buy most of my batteries from RTD! Super fast shipping and great prices.

I think cutting the springs would work in theory but it's hard to imagine chopping it without further twisting what stays behind. One of my springs was particularly bad (it always slipped below the battery) but I tugged it back to upright bit by bit. Now a credit card works for me. I came across my (long, long defunct) Lord & Taylor card. The fact that it's shorter than a regular Visa-type card might help. I stick the corner into the battery trough and press it all the way back. That makes enough room for an AW IMR 18350 to slide straight in with no angling.

Hello all. I recently lost my eGo-Twist at a bar (got too drunk) and wanted to get a new VV device to replace it. I'm interested in the Ovale V8, but I have a few questions. First off, if I don't have the chargers or batteries, would you recommend getting the kit instead? Or just the device and get the battery and charger somewhere else? Would I also need to get a 510 connector (I notice its included in the kit)? Another concern of mine is using a device that looks like this in public. I don't want to get any weird looks or have people wondering wtf I'm smoking. At least with a regular long e-cig, people might know what it is.

Also, where to get the gold/yellow one? Are there any other color options besides black, white, yellow, and pink?

The credit card works extremely well for me too...the best method I've tried.

I received my Back Rubberized V8 from Discount Vapors last week, and it works flawlessly. I've had no trouble opening the battery compartment, and it fits perfectly in my hand. Has a good, solid feel. My liquids seem to work better closer to the 3.0 volt setting, and the batteries last for at least a couple days of vaping. The batteries take several hours to fully charge on the charger that comes with the kit, so I recommend extra batteries. Very happy with this vv unit.

I've been vaping 2 1/2 years. I have twice been asked "is that one of those electronic cigarettes?" Once was when I had my Streampunk Chuck and once when I was holding my White V8.

Discount Vapers carries black, white, pink and blue. Some are rubberized. The only place I know to get gold or gray right now (I want gray) is through AliBaba which I'm not doing.

Read back through this thread. The V8 is a bit particular the batteries you use. They have to have a high enough nipple and they have to be short enough. If you use a longer 18350 (they vary by a mm or two) you run the risk of a) it thinking the battery is drained after a few puffs; b) after that it may refuse to work with even the right 18350s; and, if that doesn't happen, c) you might tilt the springs, making it hard to get the right batteries in forever after. Best to stick to either the batteries that come with the kit or AW IMR 18350s. (They were out of the full kits when I bought mine so, after a foray with longer batteries which caused a & c, I've stuck to the AWs.

Discount Vapers carries AW batteries and, I assume, the chargers. I usually buy my batteries from LightHound (code cpf = 2% discount.) When they and DV were out of the AWs at the same time, I bought extras at EmpireMods.

The non-kit version also has the 510-510 adapter.

SuperT Manufacturing has really good prices and cheap shipping, too.

I won't be needing any for quite a while myself. I think I just bought the last batch ECigma.com had in stock as they're closing their webstore. Still a few good deals to be had if anyone needs some DCTs or tank cartos.

I say "they" because I just bought another one. So I needed to buy two more sets of batteries (I'll have 1 set in each and one set charging.) There seems to be a run on AW IMR 18350s. If you're looking, here are the prices I found while googling. (I've only heard of about half of these sites. Some of them could be sleazoid scam artists. So pick with care.)

The discount codes are in parentheses after the names. All of the discount codes, except LightHound's, come from - ECF Electronic Cigarette Coupon codes

Price with coupon
lighthound.com (cpf = 2%) $7.35 sold out
supertmanufacturing.com $7.59 sold out
empiremods.com (Vapetv = 5%) $7.59
ecigma.com $7.59
puresmoker.com $7.99
vaporcigzz.com $7.99
overready.com $8.00
vaporkings.com (VKBC = 10%) $8.06
thehouseofvapor.com (vf = 10%) $8.09

The following have them for $8.95 or higher:
peakvapor.com
discountvapor.com (sold out)
goodejuice.com (ECF10 = 10%)
electronicstix.com
kalamazoovaporshop.com
delawarevapor.com

LightHounds has always been my go-to place for any batteries they carry. They usually aren't the cheapest, but they are competitive and have great service. If they weren't sold out, I wouldn't have looked any further.

I wasn't questioning whether of not those specific shops are legitimate, more making a general statement about buying AW's. Although, it's not enough just to trust the shop. Fakes can make it into the supply chain before the retail level. If you trust a shop and they say they get their batteries directly from AW then you should be good.

Really, the best way to get AW's is directly from AW himself. He sells them direct over at the Candle Power Forum: AW's LiIon Batteries Sales Thread *Part 12* I thought I saw a thread from AW announcing that he was selling batteries here on ECF but I can't seem to find it.

I hadn't known that -- probably this thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ers-exporters-america-shipping-worldwide.html

(Telling me there is something to search for is like waving a red cape)

They too were sold out when I needed more. Here's the list of the prices I found plus the link to the "direct from the supplier" thread.

I just wanted to post for you folks who might be considering a rubberized vs shiny (dragonbone). I would highly suggest the rubberized over the shiny plastic! I have used both and my shiny one got a bunch of dings in it from dropping it and eventually started acting really strange. I dont know if it was from dropping it or not, but for those of you who are accident prone like myself, I recommend the rubberized! Discount Vapers now has V8s with more of a raised, sealed connector, I dont know how to describe it, but it seems more safe from leaky attachments! I have dropped my rubberized a few times and still no scratches or dings.

Interesting thanks Kaleb :). So how rubberized is it? Like does it leave greasy prints for eg.? Just thinking about that now, as it is VERY hot and humid here in Tokyo now - I stick to everything agghhhh!
Is the rubber thick or or very thin like on the matt eGo batteries? Is the rubber soft-ish... can it scratch or tear?

No greasy prints and it feels very smooth. I have never felt a rubberized eGo so I can't comment on that.

Thanks for the info. If I got another, it would be the rubberized.

I have two, both are wonky.

One lost a spring from the battery holder, the other one cracked. I like these. But my main problem is that they do not like a tank with a dual coil carto. With that setup, battery life is poor. Voltage quickly drops off.

I like the Varicool two-14500 battery variable voltage mod from Smoktek better.

On order: A custom made two-18650 battery variable voltage mod; I'm tired of messing with stuff.

I'd be afraid that the white rubberized one would get grungy very fast. I doubt you can sponge it off like you can the plastic. The black rubberized sounds good.

I really love this mod. I just wish they'd put the 5¢ they're saving by no longer including 510-510 adapters into fixing the battery compartment problems (e.g. the door, the recessed area and the springs)

Thanks Poeia. Yes that is a concern regarding my pink Ovale (which I don't have yet). The rubberized is not a good idea for the light colors I think.
