This is a video from clubsnus on the PACT act. Some good information without any crazy rumors.

Thanks Stubby.....I'm sure all snus/snuff suppliers want to keep panic from setting in....That guy seemed pretty level headed! Not sure how much these State taxes will effect pricing but I imagine shipping costs(Generally around $8 from Mr.Snuff and NicotineRush)can stay abouth the same using either Fed-Ex or UPS! Guess we'll have to keep thinking "Happy Thoughts"

You people are lucky. I would be paying lots of taxes. There is the Fed tax, which is $1.51 lb. Not a big deal and everyone pays that. But WI State tax is 100% of manufactures established price. Don't know how much that will be but it will be a good hit.

The good thing is it isn't by weight. I had been moving to RYO portions using loose snus before this came up. This has speeded up that transition a good deal. Of course I have about 45 cans of portions in the deep freeze with limited room so those have to get used up.

Perhaps this thing will get hung up in the house as they scratch there heads over the gutting of the Federal enforcement in the Senate. Hope for the best and plan for the worst.

Don't know what to think about this

I did figure out my additional taxes the other night and I'm not so bad in my state...maybe a $1 a can/$10 a roll.

But WI State tax is 100% of manufactures established price. Don't know how much that will be but it will be a good hit.

A penny is too much for those filthy roach hind-ends :-x!! I hope this gets hung out to dry along with its supporters . It's not our fault the government can't support its bloated programs....and how is catering to BT capitolism?? I'd be willing to pay twice as much to the manufacturers of my snus before letting those pigs steal more of money. Our government's sense of entitlement isn't going over well with me these days :-x!!

LOL, TV! Actually after I wrote 'that it's a $1 a can or $10 a roll' for me...I really found out I was trying to make myself feel better, glad it wasn't worst (although in a year's time, it could be) and went and had a fit of anger for 45 minutes! So you're not alone, but I did sound good for awhile didn't I? Just trying to talk myself into what's coming -I've found out I'm not there yet, I'm still angry. Yesterday I thought about switching to cigars...that won't work either.:(

Even now the anger is coming back as I read around the internet at other sites telling people to quit whining. It is our money that's going to be wasted, over taxed. etc...I better stop, I'm getting mad again.

You got that right, sunset. It'll be the same as smokes.....we start out here, then every time a lawmaker farts sideways there goes another 50 cents or a dollar per can. Thinking about Stubby, 100% of manufacturer's established price....what's that? It's probably not the price we pay for it. If it's like "manufacturers suggested list price", which it probably is, maybe a $3 can is listed as $6 by the manufacturer. If that's the case, Stubby could pay as much as $9 per can....remember, New Yorkers pay $9-10 for a pack of smokes.....a single pack. How about a carton of 10 packs.......how about a roll of 10 cans? You can see where this is going. The whole thing is wrong. I lived with it as long as I could with smokes, then switched to RYO for a mere $14 for a pound of 'baccy. All was well 'til one day I walk into the smoke shop and my $14 bag went to $45. Yes, it's gasket blowing time for Twisted Victor :-x.

The Manufactures established price is what the manufactures charge the distributors. It's not the Manufactures suggested list price. I would guess SM and other Manufactures sell directly to snuson, Northerner, etc. Not sure if there is a distributor in the middle. If SM sells it to snuson for $2.00, or what ever, and sell it to me for $3.00, I pay $2.00 in WI state tax. I figure I'm looking at about double the price. Time will tell.

I was ...... this weekend big time, but you know that ends up a dead end street. I'll deal with it and try not to take it personal.

There is quite a lot of discussion about PACT over on snuffhouse. It *appears that though it passed in the senate there were some amendments which according to some rendered it pretty toothless. It now has to be ratified by Congress if i understand correctly. here's hoping it will just die quietly.

Dave

Hi Dave, Thanks for trying to make us feel better, but I don't think that applies to the taxes.:)

Honestly, I'm reading around the internet this morning and the anger is still there. And come to think of it, I sure I never got over the cigarette tax even though I don't smoke anymore.

I know I have to deal with it--just not there yet...sad, some people are going to be hit real hard at the beginning. I'm in a state that I think once they see the smokeless figures will immediately increase the tax. There were so many cigarette tax increase last year before I quit.

Sorry for the rant....I know you meant well and hoping with you it dies, but I doubt it at this point. :D

I hope you're right about that price thing, Stubby. It'd likely lessen the blow, but a blow it would be. And even worse, that 100% could easily change to a much higher percentage at any time.....how's Wisconsin's state budget looking? To these lawmakers tobacco is an open purse with the whole anti movement to bolster their greedy justification. I know, whining doesn't change things, letters get generic replies and cross-burning on the White House lawn is taken the wrong way......what's a guy to do? At least if I rant on a forum it feels good :).

There is the Snus bus. We could all make a pilgrimage over to Pennsylvania once a year. No taxes on snuff. Home of getsnus. Perhaps OTD can come out of retirement and get that Ken Kesey bus up and running.

Stubby, hi, do you know where the tickets will be on sale? I would love to go too. I can bring a spare tire, if needed. Hope you don't mind, snitched a copy of pic. (Thanks!)
I've been reading here, guys, have to say I didn't know there was a sane Thread running on this subject. I was on the other one 'outside' but can't take it anymore. I am not having a good day, Kiss_in_ich bailed, now I know it's over. Slaughter 'em all! Kinda feeling like an ill_eagle alien here in my own house.
I used to buy from Seneca Nation, so know their goods, but I see that about five years later they still will not be able to sell outside again, if their goal was to reverse ban of online sales I think that's a done deal. Will be the same I fear with products, as well. See, I can't even say the words.
I apologize for the rant, but this doesn't seem like my country any more. It's really been a bummer day, bummer year. I just need to keep working, I guess, so better get back at something more useful, I'm sure someone can use the taxable income!

Well Stubby, I got a lot of spare parts layin' around if OTD needs anything. Slap on that Partridge Family paint job, twist a few wires together and we're off :).

Kate, darkness prevails in our once great country. I don't know that the mess it's in (and PactAct is low on the "things wrong" list) will ever get turned around, but at least it's nice to know that a lot of folks still recognize what poo smells like.

Not the bus!!!!!!!!! Oh, no..

The bus needs a bit of work but I think its doable. OTD lives just down the road from where it's parked in Oregon (though I don't know if parked is the quite the right term).

Ha! Me thinks congress is feeling a wee bit of pressure from the tobacco bots, I mean come on do you honestly think BT is not doing it's own fair share of interweb sales?

BT has been for the bill as the gray market Native American tobacco is cutting into their cut. This bill would make it black market. The house failed to get it to a vote today though they tried. I would have liked to be a fly on a wall when they gutted the Fed enforcement clauses in the Senate. Who was behind that one.

Not to get on the grounds of for or against any group but seriously WTF SENATORS!

If the treaties, promises and the actual laws of the land are not enough. Which we violated, ignored and wiped our collective rears with was not enough, we oppress and harm the tribes yet again?

I can think of oh about a dozen or so things that really need to get passed and worked on before this bill or any more Native harming laws.

Ok, so we gotta cut a tree or 2 out of it. New paint job and she's just like new.....right???

Yeah, Who? Are there reasonable humans in that mess we don't know about?
