I have no idea what to do. I suppose I need to write something to Experian or Equifax at the address they provided, but I don't even know what to write! Has this happened to anyone else? First a shipment seized, and now this. It's not looking good.

We recently reviewed your account, and we need more information about your business to allow us to provide uninterrupted service. Until we can collect this information, your access to sensitive account features will be limited. We would like to restore your access as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Why is my account access limited?

Your account access has been limited for the following reason(s):

Jul. 30, 2009: As part of a standard account review, we obtained a business and consumer credit report from the agency listed below. The results of the report contributed to the decision for account closure. The credit reporting agency played no part in the decision, however, and will not be able to provide you with specific account closure reasons.

You have a right under the Fair Credit Reporting Act to know the information contained in your credit file and to dispute with the credit reporting agency the accuracy or completeness of the information. You can obtain a free copy of your credit report by contacting the agency within 60 days after receipt of this notice at the address below:

Equifax
P.O. Box 740241
Atlanta, GA 30374-0241

Nah, call PayPal first. Those jerks see too many transactions going through and will automatically trigger this BS. What info they'll request is based on acct age, average $ amount, number of transactions and acct holder info.

Call the customer service and you should be ok.

So they did not provide you with even a general idea of what it was in that credit report that prompted them for the action? That seems really strange.

Its definitely a good idea to get a copy of the credit report so that you can intelligently discuss its contents with Paypal, but you will most importantly need to find out from them what it is thats on there that they have an issue with.

I've called and asked. They sent me to their financial department, and they told me to call that number.

It doesn't make much sense for them to tell you to call Equifax to resolve the situation when they said ...

The credit reporting agency played no part in the decision, however, and will not be able to provide you with specific account closure reasons.

Have fun dealing with the credit agencies. I tried to line out an incorrect address that was listed on my credit reports. They told me they can't remove it because it was reported to them as a good address 4 years ago by a credit card company i paid off 4 years ago. They said that only that company can have it removed. Problem is that company said they don't have to do anything beings my account is closed with them and there is no way for them to fix it for me. The big problem is all my medicaire and social security information is being sent to that address that i have never lived at. Nothing usps can do, nothing i can do, and nothing the credit card company can do. I'm pretty much screwed.

The United States Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act prohibits the interstate shipment (including importation) of unapproved new drugs. Thus, PayPal prohibits the sale of drugs that lack FDA approval, whether for personal or other use. Unapproved new drugs are defined as any drugs, including foreign-made versions of U.S. approved drugs, which have not been manufactured in accordance with and pursuant to an FDA approval. I think Paypal will soon ban the sale of ecig through them

eric - A number of forum members have posted some alternatives to Paypal that they have had success with. Hopefully those will work for you, and the amount paypal is withholding won't hurt you TOO much in the interim.

stevo - I would tell them that you ARE a lawyer, and really do some stern talking until someone takes some action. You can prep for that call with some research on the process. Google will help you a lot here.

Should be allright with visa and mastercard. Discover and Amex wanted an arm and a leg per transaction when we looked into them. That and you might want have to have a minimum amount for a customer to order from you to accept credit card on an order. No sense in being charged x% for a transaction that was only for $1.50 in the first place. Just my experience.

Yeah that will be my next step. A company put a 6 thousand dollar hold on my bank account on christmas eve. I said hey you can't garnish my bank account you idiots, all that's in there is social security money. Of course they didn't believe me but after a google search i found the section in the law stating that an account for the sole purpose of social security is exempt from garnisment. Luckily it resolved without a lawyer, still took 2 weeks to get it fixed and me faxing bank statements, social security awrd letter and such, though. That sure ruined christmas. Man i was .......
