JD4x4, if you get that lawsuit going make it class action so we can all jump on board! Our insurance company also is doing that tier thing and my husband put me down as "smoking" even after I told him it says "using tobacco products" and vaping is not using tobacco products. He finally has notified the company that I am not using tobacco. We are waiting to see what sort of proof they will ask for to show I am not using tobacco.

I write to PayPal once every six months to complain about their policy on not allowing ecig purchases. They may not care about consumers now but a paper trail is always important for future contentions. Paypal will never be able to say they helped promote healthier lifestyles with a papertrail of proof that they blocked it over the protests of consumers.

This may be an old thread, but the information contained in it is still viable. I have been deeply saddened this week because one of my favorite vendors will no longer accept paypal due to feeling threatened that paypal will freeze his account and he will lose money. The only alternative he feels is an option is to go through Dwolla, which would require his customers to open an account through them. Dwolla doesn't link to a credit card, it links directly to your bank account and requires you to give them your social security number. I feel this is too much of a risk for me to take as a consumer. When our vendors are being threatened by paypal in this manner, it affects us all.

What is it with these people! I hate Paypal with a passion,so used Money bookers instead, (which you can use at Heavens Gifts )
First purchase was smooth as silk. I was a fan,! No longer though,
Yesterday I went to make a purchase at the same vendor, with Moneybooker- realised I had mislaid my password,
No problem, I thought, was I wrong !
They sent back a request for the last four letters of my credit card before they would reset my password,
My old CC was cancelled months ago, no idea what the numbers were as I dont have it any more, must be another way one would think.

This is what followed. A sternly worded list of what they would accept as proof of My Identity, and reset my password

"For that purpose we would need “a clear and readable color copy (scan or a camera image) of both sides of valid official identification document with picture (such as identity card, passport or driving license).”

You can either scan your identification document or take a digital picture with a digital camera or your cell phone as long as it could make clear high resolution pictures.

You should send the requested document to login@moneybookers.com from the email address registered in your Skrill (Moneybookers) account. "

" Accepted file types are images (JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF), pdf and archived (zip, rar) files".

(Luckily, they forgot to ask for my Bank account number or firstborn, )

I replied that even if had the necessary computer skills to accomplish this (I do not) I wouldnt send such sensitive information through the Internet anyhow... I dont have any money lodged with them. -the account is just for an occasional purchase--

So I suggested they get over themselves, Who could be bothered,( not me.)

So, if you have signed up with Moneybookers, best to have the login tattooed on your person so you cant lose it.
Cheers,

Strange, I just paid for a large order from China with PP. What gives?

I have a feeling that as with so many other things, the motivations behind PayPal's stance on using its service for the purchase and distribution of electronic cigarette products might be slightly murky and complex, as might be its motivations for either prosecuting or not prosecuting violation thereof.

They might have had or experienced internal and/or external reasons and motivations for establishing a policy against such a use of its service, and might well have conflicting ideas on whether or, or how strictly, to enforce such a proscription. After all, they do make more money if they allow such transactions. They might very well be inclined to "look the other way" as muh as possible, and only choose to enforce their stated rules when and if it becomes expedient for them to do so; say, if a state or federal agency were to start breathing down their neck, or if they're suddenly hit with a bad case of "the scruples"; by which I mean, actually enforcing their own rule.

From what I understand, PP only has a problem with using its services when purchases are made from U.S. vendors due to the fact that the U.S. laws are still rather vague regarding vaping products. I've read that their "no ecig" policy doesn't apply to European or Asian vendors.

In other words, it doesn't seem like PP is targeting anyone, just SOP. Correct me if I missed something in the thread that proves that PP is discriminating. I'd like to know. I'm a boycotter.

tigerlilly is correct. Paypal only discriminates against US companies selling vaping merchandise.

The reason for this is the president of ASH, back in late 2009 sent a letter to Paypal stating that vaping was dangerous, just as bad as smoking and threatening a boycott if they didn't stop handling money transfers for a product that is deadly.

ASH is approximately 95% funded by the Big Pharm industry.

A 2 year old thread still crying over paypal not allowing e-cig sales. If they don't want your business, take it elsewhere!! I do not have a paypal account, I do not plan on acquiring a paypal account, I do not need a paypal account.

If the only method of payment a seller will accept for payment is paypal, they have lost the sale. No big deal, there are other vendors willing to take my money.

Come on Stosh, don't hold back - tell us how you really feel :)

I do like the convenience of PayPal, and how widely accepted it is - kinda like how I hold my nose and bank (partly) with B of A because of their huge ATM network - but I also like getting to the root of problems. To me, part of the damn problem is the idiotic (IMO) association of "e-cigarettes" with "non-e-cigarettes". Nicotine and caffeine are on pretty equal footing as mind-altering chemicals go. Does PayPal have any restrictions on the use of its service to buy or sell coffee? I have a hunch they don't.

The world at large could stand a large dose of education. (And I wonder if it's too late to change the name of this forum).
