Turn that dial to the 20 in the DCV area counterclockwise from that setting. The setting you have it on is for testing primary batteries like AAA, AA, etc. non rechargeables.

Wut, I'm going to put a $10 atty on my $300 mod... and my 2 $160 mods, and have one on my rare Microstick. I like cheap atties too. Can throw them away if you don't like em anymore.

Ha! Glad I'm not the only one. I literally have a $3 atty on a unicorn - and it seems ridiculous until you consider that she looks great, performs well (post-modding), and she let me do all sort of drilling and tinkering with her with no worry of disaster or loss whatsoever!

Whatever you decide to do with that shoestring, it will be a wonderful momento in the years to come. My kids are 26 and 22 now but I continue to cherish everything that reminds me of their childhood and all the wonderful times we had which includes everything from school stuff to baby teeth and even remnants of their umbilical cords. Stories like yours warms my heart.
