ok now you gotta tell us who this unnamed person is!

ok I figured out one problem I was having, the inconsistent firing and having to squeeze it so hard and it seemed if I didn't hold it in the right spot it wouldn't hit as hard or misfire... turns out somehow the bottle must have gotten pulled down a little. I didn't notice because I had the lower screw in there for the past few days. the bottle was now just slightly below the lower deck but pushing against the lower cap. this put pressure on the lower cap causing misfires. i raised the bottle a bit up on the hose and removed the lower screw now, running it on the magnets now and it's back to working perfect. I'm using it with just the magnets and I'm kind of getting used to it.

now I'm wondering exactly how long this bottle being too low has been that way. the first day I used the mod I was just pocketing it and a few times I tried to pull it from my pocket from the head and the head came out while the body stayed in my pocket :) maybe this is when the bottle got pulled down a little. if that's the case that might have been a reason why I winded up having to mash the button harder and harder. I did fiddle around with it before putting the screw in there and I think I would have noticed that, but it wasn't sticking out much at all, just enough to make a difference. it's working really fine now.

if that was my whole problem from the beginning then I really feel like an as shole

That's another thing I like about the alternate bottle cap (in the goody bag). It doesn't need all the height (it's shorter than the screw-on cap), and it grabs the tube tighter, so it doesn't move unless you will it to. I can't get it on without an e-juice lubing tho, then it goes on relatively easy. Snapping open to release the bottle is like breaking a snap pea in half. When I'm done refilling the bottle, I just leave it set on the table top and press the bottle cap (along with the whole top assembly) down on to it. I really like it better in most every way.

Thanks for mentioning that. One always troubleshoots electrical contacts and doesn't think about stuff like juice bottles.

I might try that alternate cap thing, never have. I was thinking of putting a 10ml bottle in it really, looks like it'll fit fine

the first night I set it up I of course made sure the bottle was above the deck, first night the mod worked fine. I wasn't used to the pinky thing but it fired really fine unless I pushed the cap out because I wasn't holding it right, the next day it was fine but then it started to act up and I winded up pushing harder and harder and I guess it's possible I never really thought the bottle would come down so I probably didn't look for this. the more I think about it the more I'm thinking this has been my problem all along and I just didn't realize it. it was down below deck very slight, a fraction of of a mm and wasn't obvious. it's working beautifully now. now I see why everyone was saying it's fine with just the magnets because it is fine with just the magnets and I just really drove myself nuts because of a stupid little thing. talk about over thinking it and overlooking the obvious. yesterday it frustrated me so much that I left it home today and then tonight I played with it and figured out the problem right away, now I feel pretty stupid not realizing this earlier :)

ok so no drilling and tapping or modding the dibi, yet :)

I must say, you were very composed and gracious. Especially considering what you were going through. I'm sorry your firstish experiences with your mod were . . . .. disappointing (to put it mildly). If, however, your trials and travails can help even one poor, unfortunate vaper with the knowledge that you've shared with us today . . .. . :D

yes, that's it, this could drive someone crazy :) the bottle wasn't down far enough to hold the cap open at all, it seated fully and seated fine, but it applied pressure, and this pressure counteracted the force of the magnets, effectively making them have much less holding force. freaky thing that was hard to notice. if it was a little more then it would have been obvious, but it was just to the right point of touching and pushing slightly. made it act like weak magnets

I don't even want to tell you that the second day after I was bending the screw because I was pushing the button so hard, I winded up wrapping a rubber band a few times around it top to bottom and it worked better  didn't match the tiger stripe koa too well though. freaky problem that I can't even believe I didn't notice sooner

at least Denis can't say I don't have a soul now if I run it with magnets and don't screw it together

I should ship them with all the bottles hanging out like a good 1/2". An awareness raising campaign. A good deed.

Seriously, tho. There's a point, it seems, where it may appear visually flush; but will interfere with good contact.

ADDIT: ^ Oh, I was about to suggest duct tape.

ADDIT summore: that reminds me, (your edit does) I was gonna ask if you wanted another screw . . . .. made of unbendium.

tape was my next thought, it didn't stand up well with the rubber band  it's so stupid that it's funny now. my whole concern with this mod from when I first saw it was if the magnets were going to be strong enough or was it going to be wimpy like my reo door was when I got it, if I pushed it down a little it could just drop to the floor before I modded it, so here I was going in thinking that magnets might not do the job well enough, then I wind up with a situation that just so happens to cause my magnets to not hold well at all , what are the chances of that? :)

it's working so well now that it's like a different mod, no wonder everyone thought I was nuts thinking it needed screws to work well

My thoughts for "zeroing out" the voltage drop on my Rio Grand spring involved placing a braided piece of cooper inside the spring top to bottom similar to how brushes are done on an automotive alternator and some other brush style motors.
I never got around to it though.

I just put another brass spring inside the spring. It gave me 0.1 Volts on the Grand with 1.4ohms.

Yep, I read my "instructions" before my mod arrived and two things that I remembered went something like:

Make sure your battery oring isn't proud

Make sure your bottle is pushed all the way up.

I do both.

But thanks to the tips of some of the veteran diberators, I now pull the bottom to replace my battery and I don't have to pinkie my not proud oring out every time. Sweet.

I have learned to be easy and purposeful when removing the bottom too, So I don't smash the fuseling like I did the first time I just pulled it off.

that's a handsome solution, aalwani. Russian nesting springs.

when I first made a little bridge of brass shim . . . ..

. . . it wasn't well received. No more hard short protection.

I REALLY liked it tho. I could start a fresh battery with it lifted aside . .. . .

and then drop it in place when the battery got down to (IDK~) 3.9V. Basically gave me a consistent 3.6V through the whole battery cycle.

Also, on a new build or after screwing on a new atty, I could lift aside the shim on initial firing; allowing the hotspring to do it's job.
