You can put me down for one of those as well :)

You DO have a forge don't you?

When I was making knives, I had a nice little setup with a fire pit, cubes of kiln dried hardwood, a small fire brick enclosure with a ceramic dome lid, and a shop vac set up in reverse to blow the billows.

Very cool! I had a friend at work that used to make knives using railroad spikes pounded into blades. Unfortunately he passed away before I could talk him into making me one :(

You guys got me motivated, I got one Cy-Clone converted to BF
I removed the set screw, screwed on a 510 to 510 and put it in a small vise and drilled down from the top with a 3/64".
Then I used a cutoff wheel in a Dremel and cut a little slot in the bottom of the post.
I have nothing to try it on so can one of you send me your OliveR so I can try it out?

I think I like that method of making the squonk hole at the deck level. It weakens the post at that point but it's much easier to do, especially in cases where your center post is stainless.

I wish I would have thought of doing it this way when I did my zenith post. I wouldn't have had to scrap it. Because the zenith uses this method for the wire catch holes, that's where it broke when I wrecked it. The slots cut on both sides of the post weakens it significantly. You will notice in this pick that top of the negative posts are actually slightly twisted just from synching the wire down. And I don't over-torque. I have a good feel for mechanical strain.

Here's the link. It says it's been air drying for 18 months and is "near dry". Question is, how dry should it be to work? Can I have it dried like kiln dried?

I don't even get a link (to tell you that it doesn't specify whether the wood is green, kiln dried, 3/4 air dried and therefore I can't recommend it)?
