homeboy's SUBbin' . . . ..
Yeah, I had
that coil in there for the last 2-1/2 months, and was pretty happy with it until I started playing with
CC rayon this weekend. Well, in my first attempt at using it, I took the "use twice or more times as much as you'd use cotton" advice from early in
that thread to heart, but it turns out that was too much. Then late on Sunday night I neglected to squonk and got a nasty dry hit, from which the wick never fully recovered. So the next morning, I pulled it out, put fresh rayon on there and vaped on. But I noticed that the only place the rayon was charred was at the very top end of the wick. So I asked myself: "Self, why are you using a coil that's mounted at 30 degrees (or maybe a tad more) from horizontal, which will never feed well from both ends?" Why not re-coil this thing more the way
SXD does it, with the coil totally horizontal?
But I also remembered
pdib's advice that nichrome kicks [censored]. And I remembered I ordered some way back then but never tried it. But for whatever stupid reason, I ordered 28 rather than 26. OK, if 26 nichrome kicks 25 Kanthal, them 28 nichrome oughta be better than 27 Kanthal, and might even be close to 26 Kanthal, right? Wrong.
1.15 ohms. I vaped it all day. That might work OK in Kayfun on a DNA mod (I'll have to try it sometime) but in the Cyclone on my OliveR, it was decidedly "Meh". So I made another 26 gauge Kanthal coil, mounted it horizontally, and at 0.80 ohms (which is just a tad more than that last 26 ga coil) my dibi is
vaping better than ever.
Yes, I know, SXD won't approve of the long tail wrapped around the back of the atty, but I can always cut it off. I'm still experimenting with this rayon wicking. But I think the real moral of the story is:
There's something addictive about SUBbin'
