you saying that confirms user error. I hadnt snugged it back up all the way. ive been just turning til I liked the throw and repeating as necessary. almost [emoji15]

Funny, because I went through all that when I first got it, and then forgot about it, and it's fired fine since.

I just now looked at it, and it had unscrewed itself so that the silver wasn't making contact, only the nut was... but it was working just fine. I just now tightened it to the top for the first time :p.

i don't want to dismiss this issue too readily. At least we should acknowledge that it requires some attention. If there's a design-type-style thing that isn't obvious, that requires caution and focus, we need to shout that from the mountaintops (from where all important messages are shouted).

and, mountaintop shout-out for MoN's nuts. (tight as they may be . . . . . .)

The fact is it's a nut. Unless you want to give up the ability to adjust it, this is something you have to deal with. Keep it properly tightened, maybe tighten a bit extra with pliers when you have it where you want it, and that's it. Otherwise, the entire post nut system would be a fixed length, and what's good for one may not be good for another

Ken:
I take my Dibis everywhere with me, and only use my Reo when im mowing the yard (and sometimes not even then). I used to be an eVic owner, and never dropped it once. I'm good at holding onto my mods.

Pdib:
I hand tighten the nut down on the silver screw, and it does sometimes work its way down the screw, but this only pushes the screw AWAY from the battery for me (not closer to it). I would say that slightly more than hand tightening may be needed, but was this happening with the silver screw or the aluminum screw?

totally off topic, and please excuse me for that sin, but I just want to remind, mention, and say "thank you" to ValHeli. You gave Mark T. your place on the list. Bear in mind, this was at a time when he had no mod (Texas girl, feel my wrath). You sir, are a darn fine individual, and I'm sure I speak for MT as well, when I doff my hat to you.

respect.

AWWW shucks, I WUV U TOO!!!...

Speaking of mods,

MY DiBi is ready for pick up!!!! Photos and dance to follow:toast:.. :D

I adjusted my nut once or twice, but once I got my post right where I wanted it to have a short throw... I tightened down on the nut just a bit to make sure it stayed in place. Not much more than finger-tight, mind you.... The silver is soft and you do not want to booger up the threads.

This is how mine sits:

ETA: Be careful when making this adjustment. While trying to find the shortest throw, it went auto-fire. Just have to be prepared to yank the top off.

As-is, i have about a 1mm throw w/ my efest 1500 mAh flat-tops and about a .25mm throw w/ my aw imr 1600 button-tops. These are the only two batteries I use, and I am phasing out the flats completely. Just be aware that even the same batteries from different batches have a slight size difference from manufacturing tolerances. If you do the super-short throw, make sure you aren't cooking off the grenade! I tested all my batteries and came to the perfect setting for all of them before locking down the nut.

redwood burl, even when stabilized, is too soft. If you see the word "redwood", run away. (unless you're TimK, and then you're stuck with an absolutely gorgeous mod, and me rooting for you and helping when I can)
