Checked the battery when I got home. It was 3.4 volts. Don't know if it fired constantly for 25 minutes or was intermittently firing during that time.
When I pulled the top off, I tossed it on the floor of the truck. Without the nut, the button and spring decided to hide in another location. Burned my fingers in the process. I have the set screw in place, so getting the battery out took some doing. Definitely my scariest vaping moment to date.

Just still wound up. Check your nuts everyone. I've touched mine several times since. My wife is not amused.

ouch! I'm truly upset that this happened. We haven't PMed, and I won't plague you. But I'm here and I'm all ears.

Dude..... I'm gonna try to say this as gracefully and respectfully as possible here (since I'm still trying to get together to meet you sometime, without getting clocked).......

Your daughter is gorgeous! :hubba:

Would you expect anything less than perfection from a man with an epic beard?

no worries, my friend. i have no talent for making anything as gorgeous as a dibi, but even this blind squirrel once got lucky and produced something gorgeous.

no, MoN, the blind squirrel reference had nothing at all to do with your nuts...

bonus points: Gil finally realizes why i am partial to certain red mods :)

redwood burl, even when stabilized, is too soft. If you see the word "redwood", run away. (unless you're TimK, and then you're stuck with an absolutely gorgeous mod, and me rooting for you and helping when I can)

A burden worth bearing unfortunately :toast: she talks to me you know, that fling-flangin thang you dang-done made :?:

It's been said that viewing porn is addictive.

Well, so is making it:

While I was out there in the sunshine between showers today, I realized I'd never done the obligatory hand shot:

No, she's not a different color on that side, it's just the way the light plays on this particular wood, and how the camera (my phone!) sees it.

Yes, the wood has a mildly distressed look to it; it's not perfectly smooth because it's a natural (not stabilized) maple burl that was aniline dyed and then finished with teak oil. This wood does expand and contract a bit with changes in temperature and humidity, and I find for the most reliable function without any fiddling, I prefer to keep it adjusted so there's a bit of gap on the end-plates (visible in the second photo).

I've got some 20 amp rated spring-pin contacts coming for another project and I'm pondering the concept of making a replacement center conductor. Get a piece of brass all-thread, cut it shorter than the existing one, and solder the spring-pin contacts to it; that way the end caps could sit totally flush no matter what mood the wood is in at any given moment? Please don't excommunicate me for expressing such heretical thoughts. :D

Are you using your biggest o-ring at the top of the battery to keep it from floating up?

I need to find my way to California at least once in my life. Farthest west I've been is Vegas.

Me too :) I've technically been in CA when we toured Death Valley, but that's as far as I've made it. We have done Alaska though and I really want to go back :)

because it's great music. And because you nailed it.

(listening and enjoying, what a pleasant surprise. Thank you sirius)

although . . . . . listening . . .... . and thinking. . . . . the "yes" is way more forgiving on the repetition. I really like how unforgiving the "meet me in st. louis" is.
