I haven never been a girly girl either Megan, and my best friends have mostly been guys. Fashion, decorating, going to lunch with the gals just are not my thing. Car racing, fishing, .... hunting, now those things excite me, speaking of which I need to prod him to get the boat fixed so we can go catch some large mouth bass. I guess my art and crafts are the girliest things I have ever done. lol

I guess I am as I have a lot of guy friends. I have fun and don't go limp at the suggestion of doing something like fixing stuff or power tools (raised by a contractor and rancher so grew up around guys) and I don't have to wait for someone to tell me what needs doing, just jump in with the guys and get 'er done! I was never one of the ladies sitting in the shade, I was one of the ladies digging out the horse stalls...I was born to be dirty.

Of course I still try and do this and scare everyone half to death as I tend to do stubborn things like haul tables and 50 pound glaze buckets then suddenly fall over. Then all the guys come running over and sternly tell me to sit the ....... down!!!

Me too I think I have it figured out at about 47 years cause I quit in the 80's for 7.5 years and started when I was 10 so without the 7+ year hiatus it would have been closer to 56 years.
I smoked the first month I vaped, I actually started vaping July 20th or there abouts, and never smoked more than 4 a day from that day on, I was down to two a day after the first week, but the last one was on Aug 15th. I guess my one year as a vaper is actually tomorrow but I prefer to count the year from the last one smoked.

I got that eGo and a box of those Dual Coil cartomizers. I think they were 1.5 ohm not sure, and a few bottles of juice. A charging cord and was set. The juice I started on was what I thought premo vanilla tobacco in 24mg. Ha! I vape 6mg now but at the time it was great! I smoked a few here and there no more than I would say 4 or 5 up until I went maybe a month out? Idk but I figure hell I quit the day I got that eGo and that was August 9th. I bummed one smoke from a buddy in February I think it was and damn near threw the hell up! Just nasty.

None of my mates have been girly girls either. They all either worked on their own cars or fished and hunted like I do. With the exception of one girl I got with after my divorce. A real primped and polished chick. Which may explain why I ran her off a couple of years ago. Ha!

I'm having a big 50th birthday party the weekend of Aug 22/23rd. You're all more than welcome to come if you happen to be anywhere near Michigan :)

Master of Bassets...and not much else.

What part of Michigan? I've got nothing planned for that week-end. :)

Ha! Love Monty Python!
Yes you are a tough chicka and I know hubby is proud to have ya around. Can't beat country folk of any kind. Can't take that out either. I live in the suburbs now and am the only person in this development that half his back yard is a garden..lol
Lunch was fresh squash, corn, tomatoes, and cubed steak. All but the cubed steak was grown in my back yard. Ikr? I may be too country even for country! :p

I'm also a grow it yourself-er, and the type who will be out fixing something "broke"... even if I end up breaking it more. :p Fishing and camping yes... hunting no ads I will never enjoy the part where you have to kill things. Too much of an animal lover. Even the fish - can't stand the way they look at me when I've got them on the hook.

Seems to be a personality type though - tinkering with coils and getting your hands into everything, especially if there are tools and dirt involved.

Vwls -- I hunt only what I want put up in the freezer to eat on. I never have been a trophy hunter and don't kill does or bucks with velvet spikes. I tend to only go after large old grey face bucks. Now and then a long shot will bring a young buck down, that happens. As far as other critters, I only hunt deer and go on the occasional rabbit hunt because those rabbit are some of the tastiest critters around!
Fishing is another story. If they are legal they go into the live well..lol ;)

This evening I finally got to playing with the 30 gauge titanium wire that came the other day. The results are not good.

Methodology: I wound a ~2mm ID coil on a 5/64" bit. Thinking it would have resistance per unit length roughly equivalent to 25 gauge Kanthal and wanting to start at a relatively high resistance, I was shooting for 12 wraps, but it was springy enough that I ended up with 11, and they weren't in tight contact with each other. I mounted it on a Cyclone base and screwed it onto a DNA mod set to a conservative 10 watts. A couple of quick taps of on the fire button produce readings of 1.4 to 1.5 ohms. That seemed promising, so the taps became presses and holds while visually observing how it heated. Very unevenly. OK, time to break out the ceramic-tipped tweezers and squeeze it together while heating it. This resulted in resistance readings that went as low as 1.1 ohms and as high as 2.4-2.5. So I figured it was shorting coil--to-coil in places, so I'll try to spread it out evenly. Well, when I started to spread it out, I noticed that the light colored oxide layer that had started to form in it readily came off where I was manipulating it with the tweezers. That's bad. Here's a picture:

y4abOHP.jpg

Conclusion: I think it could be used in pinch if it were wound without contact between adjacent coils and it was kept wet at all times while powered. But any attempt to dry burn will form prodigious amounts of titanium dioxide, which does not stay stuck to the coil like the oxide layer on Kanthal seems to. Moreover, it's a real PITA to get it to glow at all evenly. So for the time being, I'll stick with Kanthal, Nichrome, or if I'm feeling masochistic, R41.

Well, that picture is enough for me to steer clear of it.
Thanks for doing the leg work for me. ;)

I too am playing with builds. Nothing as adventuresome as Rossum. Just having some fun. I haven't played around with coil configurations for . . . .. IDK 8-10 months? This morning I tried a René41 version of what I had in there before. Managed to hit about the same resistance; but it just wasn't doing it for me (?) So this evening, I twisted up 3 strands of 32g Nichrome. (after which, I figured out that 4 strand twists of 34g Nichrome will equal a single strand of 28gN . .. . so that's next on my list)

Anyhoo, this one is flavorful and lights up quick. Looks like 0.4Ω.

What was your source for the titanium, what level of purity was it, and was it pre-annealed?

ScandaL, you mean Nichrome or René41? Both give people with Nickel sensitivity a sore throat (not dangerous, methinks, but unpleasant). René is very hard to work with. Nichrome is nice because it has lower resistance per wire mass. So, like, 30g Nichrome is the about the same resistance as 29g Kanthal. So it fires quicker, and many think it gives off brighter flavor.

Nichrome 60 Wire

you can buy small amounts (or large) here, and it's free shipping on most of the stuff.
