I've been seriously lurking in the woodvil thread since it started. They're gorgeous! But I feel confident that I would like to start my BF experience with one of pdibs mods. If it completely converts me away from the tube mods, I'll probably get one or more of the metal grands for carry out.

I'm thinking that it will add to my options, though. Tube, box BF, epipe (soon, I hope). Variety is the spice of life vape, after all.

I was stalking for those too but I love the style of these! Hope to make the transition myself.

Ok, so, you won't be saving any money by asking me to do a custom piece. That, inevitably, takes more time on my part (even if it's just secretarial). When you source and buy your own materials, that's your added cost and risk. I'm going to be making some beautiful and unique mods from materials that I have/source, so custom isn't necessary for those qualities. One distinct benefit of the custom route is that, if one selects properly stabilized woods, such materials may prove more durable/tough (although most wood is fairly tough stuff, and with the right attitude and a true sense of purpose, you can break just about anything :toast:)

Numbering:

I haven't thought of a good way of marking the particular mods with production numbers. The surfaces are small, full of parts, concave, dark . . . . If anyone wants to buy me a miniature wood burning set with individual letter/number units and provide a very very small (nay, miniature) person to do the marking, I'll consider it. I acknowledge (ack!) that there would be something nifty about this. Thinking about it . . . . ..

Sounds like a pita to me. Which bit would you mark - the top plate, the wood, all of it??

I can furnish you with a mini-person but getting her to do as you ask may be more difficult. Also suppose that there is a problem you have not foreseen "oh - you don't want one from batch #2...they had wobbly pins etc".

Since they are all unique right now i doubt that numbering them is worth anything. Example: for sale killer atty #45 - so what? The best you can do is to make sure you keep records of batches of parts you buy in case you discover a problem with them later.

While I think numbering each externally would be neat I don't think number 67 would be any more or less coveted than number 134.
If I were in your position, I would consider serializing internally though. This would allow you to track when you manufactured the mod, when it was sold, your costs involved...etc etc etc. Would help you track for warranty exposure also.

Check out heat stamping or foil stamping?

Thanks
Geo

I'm beating the cr_p out of mine. :)

I can appreciate and confirm the durability of the mod (at least the one I have). And even though its can probably take a beating, mine does not leave a specially mark-ed off indoor and secured vape zone with the words "do not touch" labeled on its own stand. I let people look, maybe touch with supervision, sample vaping requires a hefty deposit and usage fee.

The infra-red intrusion system with web-base notification and video in still under construction.

BTW I am really digging that Green Buckeye Burl.....the twin mods was a good idea.

What does one "need" to order for one of these? Besides wood blocks? Lol

Also, still having no luck finding anything close to that green one. Anyone?

Cash on the barrel head. :)

I had the green buckeye custom dyed and stabilized.......Just kidding:)

Fact is, it was just pure luck finding that particular block with the correct dimensions. I've seen lots of beautiful dyed/stablized blocks but most don't have the correct measurements. I suspect because they are all intended for knife handles. Check all the the burl source web sites often. You could get lucky like I did.
