old growth redwood from burlsource. Knowing what I know now, I would choose differently. It looks incredible but it is a crumbly wood. There are some spots on the insides that crumbled during the process. pdib did his wizardly magic and got it through though. :thumb: Who knows how strong it really is and I'll have to be careful with it.

A lot of these burly curly blocks I see posted up sure look pretty, but I am curious how well they will hold up over time. Highly doubt mine would survive a fall but I could very well be wrong. Plan is not find out :D My next one I want richlite tops/bottoms and something really strong/durable. Run 12 is far enough out that we all should know what takes the most abuse. I have a block of that bog oak so I'm super curious how xobelot's does.

Yeah, it's too bad about the redwood. I've liked everything redwood I've come across so far. I got a stabilized dyed something for round four. Gettin' 'cited already!

............btw: he does seem to have a propensity to drop by whenever people talk about him. . . . .. . . . . . . I think he's psychic or something.
(either that, or he understands how 'mputers work) ;)

Have I missed anything :D

Yes I do keep an eye on this thread.
Yes I will happily pay for a Dibi.

And whenever I do get to hold one in my little mitts, I promise I'll not tell anyone I like it............

Honest :D

Haven't you ever wondered what's behind the webcam? :matrix:

I give up. I never did get to sleep yet--doing everything dibster suggested to get my Dibi working.

My hands hurt like OMG! Pushing squeezing taking apart starting over.....I feel beat up.
My fire button is so tough to move. Like trying to move concrete.

If the weather is nice tomorrow I'm going to the post office. If it's not then I'll wait til it is. :D I hate bad weather.

Ok now I am going to sleep til Grey's comes on.

I'm starting this run with fabbing small parts. Contacts, springs, fuses etc. That'll give me time to focus on any support for run3 and chat with a couple folks to hammer out final details on run4 specs. Working, yes . .. . . . showy stuff, no.

:)

Umm, so would this be a good time to send you a message requesting sterling screw and copper spring?

I had to put the screw in the bottom of mine. Apparently I'm not dexterous to hit the sweet spot. Was having misfires when I wasn't paying attention.

Which screw is that *looks in baggie* :?:

Sent from a BIG phone.....Galaxy Note 3

the long skinny brass one. holds the bottom plate firm. my habit is to button smash when i'm not paying attention. the stiffness of the spring makes it not so obvious when it makes contact to the battery. i am learning though to put my pinky finger under the mod on the battery side when firing, solves the issue without the screw. well my issue i was having for a little while today.

and be careful installing that screw:

"In your goody bag, there’s a brass set screw for the bottom cap. It’s redundant, by design, but should you prefer the bottom cap to be more “fixed”, you have that option. Bear in mind please, that the screw threads into wood. Be gentle and focused in seating it. Personally, I would dry-fit the screw in just the cap to get a sense for how deep it sits when fully engaged."

Well, that's why I opted for the Richlite caps... because I thought if I dropped mine, the Richlite would be tougher than my wood. Plus, I like the contrast. But after seeing all you guys matching caps... I've got to confess I'm a bit remorseful and now wish I got matching caps too, because they look so nice:(... Unless I drop it. Then I may be glad I got richlite caps:p.

Wait.... How'd he get a Dibi before you?
Wait..... on 2nd thought~ How come you didn't take his?

Husbands these days just get away with too much. What happened to what's his is mine? :D

I know.... if my husband got one first, he's get to look at it for about 1 minute (or as long as it takes him to unpack, whichever comes first... ), before I ran away with it... LOL!

My original plan was to actually make a necklace/lanyard for the dibi so I can wear it... have to see the size first;).

It's SUPPOSED to arrive tomorrow... but given Florida's flooding issues, it may not arrive til Sat. Can't wait:)!!!

Lex, your DiBi is obviously defective and can't be repaired. As Peter's local representative, allow me the first to offer you a complete refund in cash, the green folding kind. Do you prefer small bills or large? ;)

Seriously, I'm in Montgomery County and I'm the proud owner of #0002, which I've been vaping like I stole it. I have to believe you're doing something wrong. If you want, I'd be happy to get together sometime this weekend, perhaps at a neutral location such as a vape shop. I'll bring mine and you bring yours and we'll figure out why mine works and yours doesn't.
