Quite a while back, I picked up this piece of black walnut crotch:
It's 2-1/8 x 1-1/2 x 6-1/8, which I think should be big enough. I'd kinda like to get a better feel for what it would look like finished, but I'm afraid to put anything on it other than to slightly dampen it (which is what I did for those pics). Any feedback appreciated.
That's a beautiful piece. I'm a sucker for walnut. That'll probably be my next one.

hahaha think I said the same thing when I opened mine up... ironically said the same thing when I dropped it
all good now after pdib fixed it! Congrats and I'm curious how it goes for you long term. I don't really use any other mod anymore except a couple reos for out and about.
I had thought that I would leave my dibi at home and use my reo at work. just couldn't leave it behind, so I designed this fancy mod holder for the truck.

There was a request for more pics, and I just couldn't leave her home alone, so I had to bring her to the office to meet my friends... lol. Loving this thing, I think that there may be something intangible with this mod? I've never loved an inanimate object as much; nor have I ever felt the love in return! Ahhh-mazing!!!

Thanks for making the vid. I also had the same reactions. Made me feel like I was 10 years old again and it was Christmas.
Wood BF mods are all I'll ever own. Whether they are natural wood or stabilized. Best in beauty and functionality. Though admittedly I still have a hybrid Mr. Puffer "the transsexual" BF/TF from back in the day. 
I get to finally got mine. Loving it!!!

It had a clear plastic box and the version had a 3 color LED oscillating light show which if left on would ware down the little 14500 battery in no time,
