you know, for someone who swears they're not a modder, here you are cutting and sanding, stabilizing woods, buying sanders, hell, alls you need now is a drill press and you might just be a full blown modder gal :p:laugh:

Oh heck no... with a 4" x 36" stationary Rockwell belt sander, it still took forever to grind each block to the wood and the only thing I was doing was removing a few mm off each face. Honestly, after doing that, I learned a lot of appreciation for what pdib (and you too) go through with those mods! Not to mention the sawdust and the MESS to clean up... omg.

Hubby had a drill press already... but I am no way ready to make them myself, because beyond the wood there's more to it, and it's not just drill a couple of holes either. Just the wood is messy, stinky and takes a lot of time worth of focus (while making the mess and breathing the stink). I'm just one of those people who like to actually get an idea of how things are made... doesn't mean I want to make everything myself.

Turbo.. how long did yours take just to shape the wood out of curiosity? (and you aren't doing the whole CA thing either, which in itself is tricky).

Ok GG, I see in the album that you've marked the Yellow and Blue blocks "mine" so they're yours :D

the purple one was my favorite but like you said, it's too small. So i'll just take the

Red/Black - 4 1/4 x 1 3/8 x 2 13/16
View attachment 355060View attachment 355061

and Black Green Yellow - 4 1/4 x 1 3/8 x 2"

Please send them to Pdib and just email me how much I owe you ! Thanks so much! I'm truly grateful!!!

You got it! I'll mail em to pdib, but it won't go out til Monday, since I can't get to the PO tomorrow morning. And already told you, you don't owe me anything... you paid for the wood... :p (and I wouldn't have done it if you hadn't made me in the first place)

Sorry... I try to catch up on pages of notes, and I see that you guys keep moving ahead...

I can't see how that atomizer works exactly... juice hole is where? Negative post goes into one of the deck holes and out the side??

And pdib... what do you mean 'single wire'? That's at least a double twisted ribbon Kanthal, which is like 4 28 ga wires thickness or more ...

Supe, the juice hole on this one is just below the deck line, on the post. There's a black delrin insulator that you well know is supposed to house an SS washer. I remember VH said something about how the hole is low and the washer is drilled out(?) to let the juice through. Anyway, it had no washer when I received it from VH. So, it's a black delrin "well" around the post, with the hole above the bottom of the well but below deck line.

Here's one. 24g Kanthal. If the ends of that coil are at 3 & 9 o'clock, the wide open air holes are at 2 & 8. I played a bit with raising up the cap too. Works great for enlarging the chamber. This build is still low enough that the cap can fully seat with room to spare; but I'm playin'. Earlier, driving down to the airport, I pulled the cap up about 2mm from fully seated. It stayed that way for the whole drive down and back with me tossing the mod around the car (cupholders, pockets, etc.). Really big effect, really cools down the vape and mellows it out. The o-ring (last pic) would be good for if one actually builds high enough that the cap would touch if fully seated. That would have to be pretty dang high though.

stupid question but have you ever considered just moving the squonk hole a little further up?

If you were to use the "snap on" cap instead of the screw on type, that would allow you to seat the bottle higher up on the mod and would allow for the tapered part that was talked about at the bottom and also more height with the collar (see below).

This would add more stability to the collar and still allow for the same squonk hole that we have grown accustomed to (I'm partial to the old hole, lol)

I heard he stopped making those.

there's been more than a few ppl asking in the Reo threads about dibby doors.

out of fear of retaliation from most of the folks in this thread, i have kept my lips firmly zipped.

unless of course you'd like a short-term project, ya know, to stave off the boredom of making awesome mods :)

but i +1 Tree's nomination for the best squonk hole shape, even tho it wouldn't work on a dibi OliveR...

Blargh! Playing catch-up!

Nuppin' - yes please!

New prototype squonk hole - No thanks!

Turbo - i have 2 pennies in mine... What now!? Feelin' Froggy?!

Well... I also have quite a bit of krazy glue (actually, quite a bit of it) strategically placed throughout my mod... The Simian is a fragile little monkey, and I have two left feet...

I also like popcorn.

Off topic....may I share my thoughts on beauty supply wick material? <-----rhetorical question

I've been very reluctant to try this mainly because of concerns of molecular composition and just because some dude on a forum says it is safe doesn't ease my mind.

Another very nice ECF member sent me some to try. So, I figured that one day of using it wasn't going to kill me so I sucked it up and went for it.

I used it all day yesterday. I used it with 28ga kanthal at .8Ω at about 20 watts on a hornet with my most flavorful and favorite juice.

I tried it with short tails, long tails, thick wick, thin wick, high coil, low coil, wick upside down and right side up <--J/K:)

I didn't get more flavor than KGD (even perceived a little less flavor). I didn't get more vapor than KGD. I didn't get a "cleaner" flavor than KGD. I did notice that ray is a more robust material in that it doesn't discolor from the heat nearly as much as cotton and will last much longer than cotton. Which is irrelevant to me because as soon as a coil gets crusty gunt, that wick is outta' there and the coil is dry burned and used for only one more (maybe two) time.

All this combined with the fact that no one really knows what lurks deep down at the molecular level of ray, I'm gonna stick with KGD until someone (science types) comes up with a definitive thumbs up because here's what I do know (or at least think I know) about KGD; it is not bleached and processed with chemicals, it is not raised with pesticides, herbicides or defoliants. It may or may not have some nasty chems but my gut feeling is that it doesn't. My gut doesn't feel the same about ray (nor silica for that matter).

Yes, yes I know that we smoked cigs with gawd awful stuff in them for years and that the air we breath is contaminated and that everything under the sun causes the big C and that the juice that we use poses it's own set of concerns...yada,,,,yada,,, but I don't want to go backwards.

Bottom line for me is, meh.

I don't get the hype. YMM/Prolly doesV

I don't mean to start a debate....just my :2c:. I probably should have posted this in a different forum but I don't love them like I love ya'll.:D

When it comes to anything involving vaping the bottom line is trust yourself. Try it and if it doesn't cause angels to sing on high leave it. Right now we are forging ahead with no good science to help us determine if it is going to hurt us or not. I think making up your own mind with or without science is ultimately the best corse of action! :thumb:
