My wife's earlobes are sensitive to almost all metals. She hasn't worn earings for decades. Now that my daughter is gaining interest in such girlie things, my wife gave titanium a shot. Works great, no irritation. So, now I'm the proud hubby, and owner of 15.5" of 24g Ti wire . . .. . dedicated to her lobes. :D

Better hide the silver for the dibi posts, she's onto you ...:laugh:

I'm sorry to say there are screws for the neg. wire captures, and most likely will be a post and screw in the center as well (judging by the feedback I've seen).

That's cool. I knew it was too good to be true. :) I forgot to post a pic of the matching tru-stone DT Lewis made for my Dibi. Porn break....

Good looking tip there.

I guess you'll see this when you return from your porn break.

Oh, why not? Maybe I'll take one too. Good night everyone.

Hope you have some less expensive ones to chop up... if not, let me know and I'll send you 2 (one for you and one for me :D ).

Could you sneak into your wife's pot cabinet and find an ugly old pot you can cut a small part of the handle from for the insert?

yeah, I guess I don't mind modifying a real atty if it's going to make it better. I really tried to love the origen v2, it's a beautiful atty, I love the whole top cap air flow design but honestly to me as a bottom feeder the deck just sucks. it don't even have a deck really, it has a deep wet moat surrounding a big fat center post and I just can't get a great vape from it compared to my favorite atties

I've been trying to think of ways to do something with it, it's one of the most expensive atties I've ever bought yet it vapes worse for me than much lesser atties, maybe I'm weird but I guess to me that's something begging to be modded and deserves to be modded even more so than some clone. now peters centerpostless atty got me to thinking and looking at the origen again and it just hit me, so I kinda tore into the origen today :)

when I did the cyclone adjustable variable chamber volume thing that I built for the afc cap I really think that the actual inlet point of suction for the driptip moving up and down in relation to the coils had as much of a difference in the flavor change as actually changing the chamber size. this is one of the reasons stuff like the kayfun, the rose, the spheroid and the immortalizer all have such crazy flavor enhancement, because the airflow is "in-coil-out", the bulk of the airflow does not see much of a chamber at all, it slips around the coil and then gets sucked into the driptip exit tube right at the side of the coil opposite the air inlet . I'm thinking with no center post and the whole center clear then a telescoping driptip tube may actually allow you to tune the flavor kinda like a flute changes it's tune. when I got down as low as I could get with the cyclone tube the flavor was intense but I couldn't go any more because I hit the post. with no center post it can go down lower, all the way inbetween the 2 coils level with the air inlet holes... I think that will give crazy flavor

your new centerpostless atty has all these ideas coming back again so I'm modding the origen v2 to have a flat deck with a funnel shaped center feed like the deck of the chalice, I think that's the best draining atty I have. I had to drill through the atty base and tap it to add a negative post after removing the stock center insert. I still need to notch the new deck insert for the negative post and drill and tap it for the positive screw . if this works the way I think it will you can play with this in one of your cap designs, I think it can be tuned without having to actually vary the chamber size and no centerpost is the best way to do it

here's a few pics of what I got so far, hope you don't mind me posting them here but i don't know anywhere else that anyone even cares about centerpostless atties  I gave up on the whole square insert idea like my first drawing and instead went round, much easier to make it round when you only need one ground :)

Interesting Turbo:)!!

I should explain that I'm not the one making pdib's atomizer, Val is I think? Wasn't sure the reference to 'your' atty... I was only commenting on your design drawing, and thought you might consider a different material for the insert from metal... especially if you had a chunk of pot handle to test, you wouldn't have to go buy stuff to try it, because you have lots of tools (don't need to have the anchor socket for a test).

Maybe it was the offer to send you some RBA to practice on? I have a whole bunch of bottom feed RBA that I had to custom order a lot just to get them made, so they'd be good to test modify if you didn't have a spare, but I see you have a spare:).

I'm NOT a modder, but I do like lots of different materials!

That said... I have no idea what the origin looks like to begin with to be clear what you did... but it looks interesting!!!

Nope, it was soft enough to make coils from no problem. Way easier to work with than, say R41.

Yes indeed. And so did Peter. We both made coils without difficulty, but we both found 24 gauge to have unsuitably low resistance. And the chart I posted above confirms those findings.

I now have some 30 gauge on order. I hope to have it on Wednesday.

And just for the record, I'm not interested in titanium because I'm worried about the safety of Kanthal. I just think there might be a lot to be said for low-mass coils. We'll see, I guess.

Where'd you find said 30 gauge. I've used Google and can't find it anywhere!

this is one of the reasons stuff like the kayfun, the rose, the spheroid and the immortalizer all have such crazy flavor enhancement, because the airflow is "in-coil-out", the bulk of the airflow does not see much of a chamber at all, it slips around the coil and then gets sucked into the driptip exit tube right at the side of the coil opposite the air inlet .

You might be on to something here. Of all the atties I have, my Immortalizer had the best flavor and it's probably due to the direct path of the airflow to the coil and to the drip tip. In my opinion, a bottom air-feed design like the Immo might be the ideal setup. It's almost like a chimney. Even with a post inside the atty, as long as there is a direct airflow path, I think you'd have a great flavor-centric atty.

In other news..... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!!!!!!!!! :rickroll:

Happy birthday Lex!
