OP = "original post" or "original poster" depending on context.

Also, I missed the group hug...I see it NOW but I wasn't looking, earlier. I was half reading, half texting, half thinking about gettin' me some booty.

Yeah, that's 3 halves...LOVE IT.

change one of those halves and use them to get ya some bootay

Well, the half texting leads to the half booty.

Once I get there, I stop texting and don't have to read so then I have a (w)hole.

Yep...

Well I was only half here... cause the other half of me was getting some booty. Now that he's passed out... I am back lol :)

I am brand new here and i've never come on a forum anywhere at anytime and introduced myself by saying something negative about another forum member. But after reading the OP's post, I feel compelled to do just this.

Now, that said, I am on page 5 or so of this thread and the OP keeps coming on to explain herself. And, she unwittingly adds to the fodder. She actually confirms what people are saying by continually explaining herself.

Poseur is the word that comes to mind.

OP, you say you spend much of your time thinking. Personally, I think you spend way too much time in your own head and are way too self-absorbed. I don't think you have any idea how you come across to others. You remind me of those annoying teenybopper girls who laugh and giggle to get the boys' attention (which, by the way, is completely understandable when one is 12 or 13 years old!).

Maybe it would behoove you to spend some more time thinking about others and their feelings rather than your own. What are you trying to prove? That you can't be pushed around? That you like being so "different" that you will endure the ridicule of others around you? I think those looks you probably get on a daily basis are well-deserved and not because you are so unique because your hair is a different color. It's because of your childish attitude.

Your in-your-face attitude is so incredibly annoying to people who like having their own space and like staying out of others' spaces. It appears you have little respect for others' boundaries-- and not just by vaping in their faces and spaces, but even by your singing admission. I don't even know if anyone here will be able to explain this to you in a way that you will understand. What you're doing is just not cool. It's not cool nor sophisticated nor proof of great intellect. It's selfish and self-absorbed and inconsiderate to think others should have to take such unavoidable blatant notice of you whenever you're around. Why on earth would you expect kinder responses? Keep out of people's spaces a bit more, and you'd be surprised-- most people would probably just as soon not stare-- or even look at you at all.

I'd say you got your own style of advertising e-cigs going on there !

Glad the cops are leaving you alone about it.

I see that your post provoked some strong feelings here. Bummer...
( Just between us, Maybe some of these forum members are getting a little long in the tooth.? ) Maybe they forgot how to really let go and have fun ?
Some are so worried about our collective "image" that they want you to grow old folk manners... mind your P's and Q's.
Some here seem to be a little too worried about how the lawmakers and Kings and Queens will react to you.

Well, great. Glad you all could fill in for Miss Manners today.
Just don't try to stuff the girl in a closet like a red headed stepchild when company comes over, Ok ?

I say as long as you're enjoying life and not hurting anyone, it's cool !

Life IS short. Try to enjoy it more folks.
And give others a little freedom to express themselves the way they want. It's supposed to be a right. Remember ?

Have a Awesome Day !

I have a dear old aunt that I like to affectionately call, Aunt Prudie. My Aunt Prudie doesn’t like anything or anyone that she feels doesn’t fit in her perceived perfect little world. That includes “most” teenagers, blacks, Mexicans, gays, ......s, pop music, rap, unnatural sexual positions and a whole host of others. If it ain’t white, straight and Christian or a missionary position it’s pretty much on her list of all things evil. Oh, I can’t forget the best one of all. Fat People! “Those gluttonous fools,” are her words. That said, my dear ol’ Aunt Prudie wouldn’t even approve of many of you who have commented on this thread. She would chide you for simply being who you are. That’s exactly what some of you are doing to the OP when your attack becomes personal.

We live in a diverse world. That diversity is present here as well. Embrace the differences, my friends. You might be surprised at how much you can learn just from a little open-minded reasoning.

One thing I’ve learned from this thread is that the OP has got it together a lot more than some of you give her credit for. She’s laid her cards out even after she’s been judged. Most people in the category she's been placed here would have told you all to "F" off but instead she opened up. That speaks volumes in my book. It says she’s honest about who she is. It says she’s traveled many roads to get to where she is in life and isn’t afraid to talk about it. More than anything it says she has an open mind with the exception of a preconceived notion here and there.. But more than anything it says she’s willing learn from her mistakes. It says much more than could be said about many of you who have taken it upon yourselves to demean and punish this girl.

Lordy I wish I could speak so eloquently and say so much in so little time.
Well put, Lika, and AMEN !

DAD AT THE MALL

I took my dad to the mall the other day to buy some new shoes, (he is
92). We decided to grab a bite at the food court. I noticed he was
watching a teenager sitting next to him. The teenager had spiked hair
in all different colors: green, red, orange, and blue. My dad kept
staring at him. The teenager would look and find him staring every time.

When the teenager had had enough, he sarcastically asked, "What's the
matter, old man? Never done anything wild in your life?"

Knowing my Dad, I quickly swallowed my food so that I would not choke
on his response, knowing he would have a good one, and in classic style
he did not bat an eye in his response.

"Got drunk once and had sex with a peacock. I was just wondering if you
were my son."

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Now, I don't care who you are, That is Funny !

Mind if I share that one with friends, Reb ?

***edit2 apparently it's also necessary that I clarify I have straight long brown hair and wear jeans and teeshirts. I look absolutely normal as they come. I also act kindly toward people and do offer explanaitions and the people usually just turn their heads and don't want to hear it. I'd appreciate it if everyone stopped attacking the character they have built and called "incineradma" and instead read what i said without making implications. Thank you and way to go completely off topic, everyone.

i didn't think you came off as rude or any of that. i thought what you were doing was interesting. it's reminds me of that whole "because that person is young and is wearing excessive amounts of black clothing and leather wristbands i'm going to judge them and say they do drugs and probably kill people..." stereotyping people do. as long as you are offering explanations, or agreeing to leave if a store owner asks you to (i mean, come on, it doesn't sound like you're going into public places and flipping people off and saying things like "i do whatever the h*** i want") i personally don't see any harm in it.

wtg girl. ;) keep spreading the love/acceptance.

edit: naturally there is a chance i spoke too soon, seeing as how there are more than ten pages on this thread. not to say i agree with everything she is saying but i like breaking the "old traditions." if that makes any sense (it doesn't).

I think it's only the 'flame' from lighting up a cigarette that is really dangerous around petrol fumes......I have thrown lighted cigarette stubs into puddles of petrol and all it does is put the .... out! .....It certainly hasn't worked like in the movies when everything explodes into flame.....Mind you I sure wouldn't recommend any else trying it.....8-o
it is the fumes and not the fuel itself. i dont know how hot a vaporizer's heating element gets but it only takes 130 degrees Fahrenheit"edit: its actually 250 degrees Fahrenheit" to spark said fumes. that said i dont know so i wouldnt at the pump.

i do think that everyones giving incinderadma an undue hard time, she isnt being rude or anything and shes just enjoying her smoking alternitive where she wants to. now the big question is, is yours one that looks like a traditional cig? i dont mean just shape, i mean is it shaped like a cig, colored like a cig, and glows like one? if so id use one thats not too carbon copy so that if nothing else you can 100% laugh at their ignorance, if they think that a black penstyle thats glowing blue is a cigarette then they need to share what their smoking. and even if it does look like a cigarette its their ignorance.
also i think the heat your catching is from the way the post is worded. myself i thoght it was funny, i laughed and wish i could do it, and will when i finally decide what model to get(Theres soooo many to chose from) not to get reactions per-se, but moreover to be able to enjoy what i enjoy doing when i want to, and one of those things is smoking.

Consider... one encounter, one observation will permanently impact on one's final opinion.

Consider... alienating and aggrivating people will sway those people who had no opinion on the topic to become "antis"

am i the only one that noticed where the op said that noone listens to an explanation? therefore how can it harm the comunity if noone knows what the hels going on

igetcha... I am so sorry to hear about your grandad. My grandma's sister just recently passed and she was the last of that generation from our immediate family still living. It is a very sad thing. Amazing how lucky they are to be so wise and share so much withus when they live so long though.

incin... I have a suggestion... you are obviously fairly intelligent and you have the desire to be here... so why don't we all just let this thread go to the bottom of the pile and incin can start a new one that says "hey all.. I am new here!". Then we can all come in like we do and say "welcome incin!" and we can get to know each other for REAL!

Just a thought...

by the way... welcome incin!
at least theres more than a couple in the comunity thats not being a ...... not just talking to spikey btw.
i dont know, it seemed that the entirety of this thread became a flame. which in a comunity thats got so many intelligent and mature members is rather disappointing. i expect this from sites like Gaia Online

also...welcome

I'm wondering. What would be hotter?
The little tiny enclosed atomizer in the ecig?
Or the giant exhaust manifold, catalytic converter and piping underneath the vehicle?

Perhaps someone could do a temperature reading on these things so we'd all know for sure. It'd be a good argument that may help us in the future.

hey incineradma,

I'm right there with'ya. I too love to inspire curiosity through shock; however I'd say that we need to provide more passive-aggressive methods. I for one am going to talk with restaurant & bar owners to post a sign beside their 'non-smoking' signs; green circle around "Electronic Cigarette Friendly". At least this can target non-smokers more than regular masses.

With attitude like that your giving public vaping and E-Cigs in general a bad rap. Of course people are reacting that way. It looks like smoke! So aleady close minded people will think even worse about it if and when it becomes a more common practice.

When you get a little older you might understand it is best to respect and protect your pleasures rather than shove them in another persons face...

Lorddrek
Great advice! I got a little older, especially since I ordered my Janty Stick! but sometimes a person has a little too much enthusiasm for their own good...strive for a little self-control always better.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt!

Look, incenderdma (sorry if I butchered it) edited her post 3 times. This thread has gone on for more than 10 pages. I know how she feels in that it is a bit of an adrenalin rush going into a place that doesn't allow smoking, and using your e-cig (like the puff I stole while waiting for my doctor) or while waiting for my class to start in the auditorium. I understand. I stole a quick puff here and there, because of where I live. I imagine polk county florida is about as close to any small town in nebraska, as you are going to get. I would just be careful in small rural towns. I have used it in a bar, and was asked to stop. I obliged, but also explained what it was, however, I did stop. I am not about to start a fight over this ecig. I also am a little peeved at having to go out with the smokers and smell their smoke when I am not smoking, but that will have to be remedied later, after we win the right to continue using these devices. Baby Steps!!

The point isn't to push the boundary on where you can do it, a gas station is just plain dumb, sorry. I ought not yell bomb in an airport, fire in an airport and I ought not look like I've got something flammable stuck in my face at the gas station, neither is an unreasonable expectation. Do you really think the person standing 40' away inside at registers is going to care?

I did it for a while, and I wouldn't care, I wasn't paid enough. I was however paid enough that I would kill the pumps until finding out what you had going on. Enough false alarms and you might get the idiot who actually fills a tank while smoking a pass, then:evil:
I had one idiot fill a car gas tank sitting in his pickup truck bed(no cap or anything, he was using it to carry fuel) while smoking. A little common sense on not looking like you are doing something that could hurt a lot of people would be nice, the gas station workers aren't people you really need to convince:cool:

Its dumb behavior like this [OP] that WILL get strict regulations put on E-Cigs.

Just because alcohol is legal you don't stagger around with a beer in your hand and draw attention to yourself and act like a ........ Not the best analogy but you get the idea.

Hell, I may have done something like this 10 years ago myself when I was an angsty young lad, but have some common sense and be responsible about your vaping. Be more discrete about it please.

Wow
I won't put down my e-cig for anyone, and I'm in a country where it's banned.

I understood the original OP even if others didn't. People don't think, they assume, which is wrong and deserves a bit of spitefulness if it's required. If vaping in public breaks the assumption cycle to some degree then it's worth doing. No matter what there will always be those that won't accept the reality of change. Some people will die stubborn, no point trying to explain it to them, they're a lost cause with personal issues, let them deal with it.

There is always room to be nice about educating people about it but not at the cost of walking away with your tail between your legs. We should not be apologising for other people's ignorance.

Conformers do not shape the world we live in, if fact they hinder it's progress. It is
Those who challenge the "norm" that create the change. They are the strong in this world and sadly make up the minority. Ironically it is the majority that think they are right and superior when they just follow the crowd hoping to fit in. They don't want to stray from what's outside the box for fear of persecution.

I personally do not stealth vape, I despise the practice as none of us should ever feel like we are doing something wrong, or feel the need to hide it. In contrast it should be us that are critical of others that do not know any better than to pre-judge. Be nice about it sure, but only if they are nice about it, if not, tell em to sod off and go read a book.

I'm sure all the years of being bashed by anti's had something to do with forming my current attitude towards them, their own fault really. Maybe they could make up for it by trying to better themselves with an open-minded conscience.

You might be worried about strict regulations that may be imposed by drawing attention, believe me you should be far more worried about not getting enough attention. Staying low-key is going to do more damage than good in the long run. What happened to us was a knee jerk reaction from the government, it's not unusual. It seems the issue is on hold indefinitely. What happens to you guys up there has a tendency to trickle down to us in some form or another, so please help out your Aussie mates and keep it public, we get the US news too.
