Right? Hello, Flamingo!
Hi Little… Ducky! You know I love that avi and it’s so appropriate now. Been reading a lot of the treads but not while logged in. That way I can type all the nasty stuff I want without getting kicked off ECF for profanity. Keep on socking it to ‘em, you’re doing a great job.

I just received this :banana::banana::banana:

May 19, 2016

Dear Ms. XXXXXX,

Thank you for contacting me to express your support for H.R.2058, the FDA Deeming Authority Clarification Act. Your input and opinion on current issues are of the utmost importance to me, and your involvement in the legislative process helps me more effectively serve the Fourth District of Arkansas.

As you may know, Representative Tom Cole (OK-04) introduced H.R.2058 on April 28, 2015, and it was referred to the House Energy and Commerce Committee for consideration. This legislation would amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to provide for a certain effective date with respect to deemed tobacco products. You maybe pleased to know that I am a cosponsor of H.R. 2058.

To better serve the hardworking people of Arkansas, it is imperative that I hear from constituents like you. I appreciate hearing your opinion on this issue, and I hope you will continue to stay in contact with me on important policy matters. To stay informed on what I am doing in Congress or to sign up for my newsletter, please visit my website at westerman.house.gov. It is an honor to represent you and the Fourth District of Arkansas.

Thank you again for taking the time to bring your interest in this bill to my attention. I look forward to hearing from you again soon.

Sincerely,

Bruce Westerman
United States Congressman
Arkansas' Fourth District
Rocking response!
I got nothing, nada, zero, zip, zilch form Feinstein and Boxer. Not even a form letter.
Ain’t California wonderful? Much of the state is, the politicians not so much. Wonder what kind of response we’d get if we wrote saying, “Our kids need to be protected, please support the FDA Deeming!”

I'm trying not to be petty... but I'll make this one post here...

I started this petition, what, a year ago? Urging the vaping community to fight the deeming regs in their entirety as I saw no way that we would ever be able to function under the thumb of the tobacco control act. I got attacked for word choices, I equated tobacco to smoking, and tobacco isn't the problem smoking is. vaping being regulated as tobacco was a given, because nicotine, and because they said so, etc. so I was espousing a fantasy. Separating vaping from tobacco left smokeless tobacco users out in the cold.

I have no idea if this petition has helped effect any change in congress. I do know that it has helped spread information and gotten people involved who otherwise might not have been, but no, I don't have the numbers on that.

Now we know what FDA tobacco regulations look like for vaping, and it appears we are now going to seek a separate regulatory framework. This is a good thing. (I have to wonder how the hardcore snus/smokeless folks feel about this)

It appears there might actually be some in Congress willing to take a hard look, and maybe that will lead somewhere before the regulations take effect. This is a good thing.

More people are getting involved every day. This is a good thing.

So, let's keep the pressure on, get involved, do everything within your power to effect change. Lives are at stake.

We that have followed this thread are on the same page Lessifer. The FDA wouldn't have had a leg to stand on if they weren't allowed to deem our vaping as tobacco products to begin with. I really don't understand why it has been so very hard to get more folks to agree and come together on this.

They know better, they've been doing this for decades.

I get it, smokeless tobacco really shouldn't be subject to the same regulations either. Also, much of the early argument in favor of vaping was based on science from smokeless tobacco. That's not the case anymore though, and changing the rules of an ACTUAL tobacco product was the fantasy in my eyes.

Okay, that was the last dig. We're all in this together, we need to stand united. I just wish some of the advocates would do a better job of focusing support. It happened with me, it's happened with numerous others who have tried to do "something" that they leadership didn't agree with, it's happening now with Conley's recent statement. I know they mean well, and it's not always them doing it, but they don't do anything to temper it either.

Thanks, it's tough. I hate watching myself, so editing is a nightmare, and it's much easier for me to write than to talk. The need for videos that can be watched at work, or shared with non-vaping friends and family is valid though, and if no one else is going to do it, I might step up as I have time. I've got an idea for another video, just have to get my thoughts together.

I like the way you are able to put the cookies on the bottom shelf so that anyone watching or reading can easily understand what you are saying  and you are able to say it with fewer words than some of the videos I've tried to stay awake through :D

I've always thought that the more voices and avenues raising awareness there are, the more likely the message will be heard. It's too easy for "them" to tune out one voice. But if they hear many, from many directions, then maybe they start thinking about votes, not just their financiers...
