A new cap? Now, that has peaked my interest and can't wait to see what it is soon. No worries about the tinted ones. I'm sure I'll get one no matter what and especially some of the clear sand blasted tanks. Really shaping up to be a good year!!

No need to get excited. The tinted tanks will have a slightly different inside and outside diameter, the wall is a little thicker, which means, after being fired and annealed they will be more rugged then the our current tank, if that is even possible :p. But the small difference in the wall size means our current cap won't fit so we have to head back to the machine shop with new specs for a different cap. It will be the same cap that is on our tanks now, just sized slightly differently! And this is the only hold up with the tinted tanks... No caps yet :(

CE2's have the advantage in the fact that there is no filler, the flavor is cleaner. This is not to correct thread to discuss as it is about the Phiniac tanks and would not be fair to the vendor, but there is enough on the ECF to gain knowledge.

Feel free to discuss it emonty. Personally like westamyx I am not a fan of the Ce2. I spent more time spitting out juice then enjoying my vape. That being said just because I don't care for Ce2's does not mean others do not, we all dance to the beat of our own drummer :p Once the few projects we are working on are up and running we will be focusing our attentions on a Ce2 tank. So peoples thoughts, likes and dislikes regarding the Ce2 are relevant here!! Knowing what you do and don't like will assist us in developing better products!!!

And after the Ce2's I have my sights set on an atty tank, just don't know where to start there!

I have just recently organized my scattered around the house stashes of vaping stuff. I have a bunch of CE2 cartos, the type before the heavier wicks. I'm not sure what to do with them.

Serious question.... why do people use the CE2 cartos instead of regular cartos in Tanks?

Alice

Send them to Afghanistan!!! Visit the thread I linked to below and PM salemgold (first poster) for her address. She is sending the next care package to the troops at the end of the month!

It's good to see you on this thread Alice. Anyways, +1 on the saddle valve. Works great and it's cheap at the same time.

Really don't understand the allure of CE2's neither. To me they are a complete fail to be honest. They have insanely bad wicking issues and I find myself tossing it after my first day. Never used them again but, hopefully someone that has had success can answer this question for you.

I know that some have modded theirs to improve how they perform though but, besides that. I don't have a clue on how to make them better. I'll just stick with my REO's and carto tanks for now.

That's a nice one. I'm still going with the $6-8 saddle valve to have more money left for Phiniac tanks.;)

Going to the linked page I see the CE2 Tanks. I'm not meaning this in any way to cause any ruckus but I tried and tried to like CE2 tank setups over a year ago and never could get satisfaction. Main issues were getting good seal, too much fiddling and hassle, and I never could get good enough wicking, with my preferred juices. I gave up. Then the carto tanks started coming out, I purchased a few, but I didn't ever use them. I'm just back to using tanks, in past few days because I purchased a Buzz Pro and a couple of tanks. I'm loving and drooling over the Phiniac tanks and will certainly add some to my collection.

Moorea: thank you, I was just pleasantly surprised with a CE2 tank that I have recently bought. It is not 100% yet, but the flavor is very clean, wicks good, no gurgling nor leaking. Like with anything in ecig land, the merchandise is improving and nothing is 100% perfect and almost each week improvements are presented. I like all my setups, I drip, have tanks, use carto's for when out and about for easy vaping, varibale voltage, bottom feeders, everything basically what is out there but for different circumstances different setups. There is not only one setup that is all and all for all times........

Oops, though you were talking about either the SS or maybe Pyrex caps. It's hard to believe that something is going to be more rugged then the current tank. But, if you say so then I shall believe LOL.

I watched SummerDawns review on your website. I so totally agree with her. Have you ever thought of pairing up with jonboy? Your tank his tops and bottoms. That would be one indestructible combination! Just a thought.....

Yes we have thought of it but it is not going to happen. Our tanks were tested extensively with the lava caps and they will not work together. John makes his bottom cap slightly bigger then his top cap. While this is perfectly fine in plastic, it is actually dangerous in our tanks. Plastic is much more forgiving and tolerant, so if the cap is tighter in the plastic it will not hurt anything. However glass is not as forgiving and inside pressure pushing out is where you run into problems, to much inside pressure in glass can cause it crack. We put a huge amount of effort into developing and even more effort into testing a cap, choosing o-rings etc to make sure that our tanks were safe for use. While the lava top cap fits like a glove, the larger bottom cap just did not meet our standards for safety in our tank. Further John often makes slight changes to his design and even the smallest change can cause an unsafe situation. We advise everyone to ONLY use our caps and our o-rings in our tank. Tons of thought went into the design of our caps to not only insure safety but to further protect the already rugged Pyrex in the event of a fall!

Finally, the price point for a Phiniac tank with lava caps would be in my opinion unreasonable. Both are higher end products, as both are handmade pieces of art. In John's case the price is set I am sure due to the work he puts into the caps, in our tank the price is set due to the work put into the tube (not to mention the insane energy bills) I am sure John does not want to budge on the price of the caps due to the time and care put into them just as we don't have much wiggle room in the price of our tubes. So a Phiniac tanks with lava caps would be pushing $100!

Moral of this story, everyone should enjoy their lava caps with the tube provided by John and their phiniac tanks with the caps provided by us!

If I could have gotten past the flooding issues, gargling issues and the juice in my mouth I can definitely see the attraction (and that was not sarcastic, I really could). That being said it has been a while since I have tried one. When I start developing for them I will do my required research to find whatever is the best working Ce2 and look forward to finding them improved.

Washvape I am in bed on my laptop so I don't have the exact measurements in front of me. I know off hand the wall in the tinted glass is 4mm thick while our existing wall is 3.2. .8mm is not a very big measurement but enough to require a new cap.

Caps won't be here until we design and order them. As stated above, designing a cap for a glass tank is a bit of a larger task then for a plastic tank. We got very lucky as our tank was the same inside diameter as the M1A1 and Mike was nice enough to lend us his design schematics. Then we simply had to tweak it a bit to accommodate for the tolerances of glass and some of the things that happen when heating the tank. This time around we have nothing to cheat off of! It is just a matter of doing a little math and we plan to get it done earlier this coming week.

Well, Wasvap's PM to me earlier, suggesting I look at D5-113, pushed me over the edge!!! I now have my first Phiniac tank heading to Texas. I've been drooling over that tank for days. Yes, I'm really excited. It's going on a Cherry Red with shiny silver band GLV SuperMini, with a 4" silver gooseneck. It will be absolute perfection when the silver end caps are available, but for now, the black end caps will look pretty cool with the black top button on the SuperMini. A shortie Phiniac tank, clear with dark red glass overlay figuring will be spectacular too!!!!!

Hugs, Alice

LOL!!! I was actually going to send you a photo of that tank when I replied to email, I was just waiting for you to reply with what type of design you were thinking!

We should be firing up the oven for some glass decorated tanks within the next two weeks. For your shorty do you want a similar design as the tank you just ordered or possibly something totally different in the red? When you decide shoot me an email (info@phiniac.com) with your desired design thoughts (be sure to remind me it is a shorty) and that way I will have it when I order supplies! When it is done, we will send you a link to purchase it.

Thanks. I understand. I just found them too much hassle and in order to get good enough wicking, with our juices, I had to leave out the silicon caps. Then I couldn't lay them down without leaking. It's been a year since I've purchased or played with tanks. The carto tanks work so much better for me. I just started using tanks again this week and I've pulled out my remaining tube mods, that I didn't sell or trade off, and purchased a Buzz Pro that I just put into use yesterday. The Buzz Pro is what got me interested in Tube Mods and tanks again. I'm terribly spoiled using bottom feeders. My current avatar show my first BFs. I'm having fun with the tanks and I'm really excited about the Phiniac Tanks.

Last week sashwa told me about the Phiniac Tanks. Thanks, lady.

Great idea!!!!! Will do for sure. I remember purchasing a bunch of sxxxx tanks, never used, but for the life of me I haven't been able to lay my hands on them. I do have one CE2 mxx tank and a couple of those in carto version, never used either and a couple of extra tubes. They would be good to send with the CE2s. Wish I could afford to send some Phiniac Tanks.

Thanks, Feisty Alice

Same here. The REOs have spoiled me to anything but feeders. I carry only the Roughstack to the woods, to work, because I would "lose it if I lost a REO." I've had to use cartos with it and carry a bottle to top it because the tanks, I've been aware of, couldn't withstand the rigors of working in the woods. Now, I could get a plain shortie Phiniac, use a little 510 riser (to get to the tiny firing button on top), and be assured that the tank will survive! I started purchasing the CE2 cartos when some of the pre CE2s were being slipped in with the new ones at the China factory. My first two boxes were totally loaded and pouring out foul smelling "primmer." It smelled like rodent urine and most of the wicks were yellow to brown and stiff. Boiling them didn't even remove the smell. I did every mod possible, for months, and still couldn't get satisfaction. I "lived" on the CE2 modders thread for months. I just remembered another "better" carto tank I have to send to the troops. Guess I'd better pull some regular cartos out of stash to send, too.

WOW. HUGE THANKS and Big Hugs. I haven't even checked my email. I'm going to immediately put a big sign, on bathroom mirror, to remind myself to go look at designs and shoot you an email a bit later today. This girl needs to rest her neck a bit before starting the hours of work ahead of me. DH is out of town three days a week, coming in tonight, and as I've been sick, for past week, my "honey do" list is huge!!!

It's been fun folks.

I've got to get some sleep!

westamyx enjoy your shiny new buzz pro!!! It is a wonderful PV!

Rest well.

I'm loving the Buzz Pro. REO, Robert, is using Mikes chip in his soon to be released VV REOs. I have a heavy sciences/mathematics background (Physics), in one of my former "lives" and healthy respect for all things electrical. Enough so that I have only stacked LiFEP04 cells. I feel really confident in the design of Mike's chips and all the safety factors built into it. I'm so confident in his chip that I am using unprotected Li-ion cells, stacked, in it. I'm unaware of any other chip design that I would do that with. I purchased a beautiful black Provari early last year along with a new GGTS and tanks (both exceptionally well made and beautiful), but never used them as the REOs were just so easy, reliable, tough as nails, and no hassle and beautiful, and the tanks were so much hassle then. I traded them for REOs. I am very happy with my choice of the Buzz Pro. If the new VV REOs weren't coming out so soon I would probably get some Buzz Pros in pretty colors. I do have an iAtty and two ScubaGenUS tanks on the way. So I'm a definite mod freak/geek. And I like pretty, too. I had all kinds of jewelry for eGos when I was using them especially for the Pink eGos. I got pretty good at dripping while driving and, luckily, didn't ever commit vehicular homicide. I don't wear jewelry but my PVs surely do. Phiniac Tanks are precious jewels!!
