score.. i was able to grab a semi-polished kayfun early this morning.. wow they sold out in minutes.. should look nice w the brass rings.. this will be my first "high end" atty. well besides the storm rider. but i feel the kayfun is in a different class.. still waiting for Davids Genny for the ELA though..

I checked out that link. Wanted to see what you guys were talking about. It's not in English. Do they have an English version?

vaperev has kayfun in stock... all 3 different finishes (175 dollars)!... is it really worth it??? coz i REALLY want to hold out for a super T RBA/RDA... decisions, decisions...

As soon as I saw your post I bought a polished kayfun just to give you an idea (I own a gamma too). I love them.

yea see i dunno what would be better on the polished ELA... the polished or the brushed.... coz i think the brushed might be closer to the polished ELA from pics i've seen. the matte is nice but it's too matte-y for me i think. like it doesn't seem to really match the satin of the precise line/ELA. but it could be just the quality of the pics.

Kinda miffed at myself as I overslept just a bit this morning and missed on getting one of those simi-polished. Typically I have to be up at 5am, but I'm off Fridays and when the alarm I set for their opening went off I was like "it's Friday, I don't need to get up..."

Guess the Ithaca I've got on preorder will have to do unless I can score one in the classies. Or maybe EA will get theirs out soon. Or, best option, SuperT sneaks theirs out soon kinda like they did with the Simplicity.

Edit: just saw that about VapeRev, off to test my luck.

I'll post my setup with the satin ELA and the Alpha Kayfun tomorrow.

Yeah! Got one! Cheaper than Cloud9 too, as they seem to automatically charge you VAT even though they shouldn't (at least I've heard they automatically charge you). And it should get here quicker as well. Awesome, glad I happened to swing buy this thread before going out (though my wallet's not so glad... looks like it'll be whatever's on special at the bar tonight instead of my usual Guinness, and NO shots!).

Edit: Dang, must have been close, went back to see what all came with it and they're already sold out (of that finish at least). Looks like I got one of the last, and it will hopefully arrive just before my ELA. Super stoked, that's what I've been wanting to put atop this ELA since I preordered it. Guess sometimes good things do come to those who wait. Might finally be content with my vamping hardware for a little while, at least until SuperT's toppers hit the scene. Then again, probably not . . .

lol... i caved! but damn... no more polished! i ended up getting the brushed tho. it really is WAY cheaper than what i've seen before since i think people order them from europe and stuff. can't wait to get mine. hopefully there'll be a super T RBA soon so i can get that for my second ELA!

Learn how to properly use a kayfun and you will not turn back. I have an ithaka on pre order too and I know the gg line well now and my only gripe is twisting the non res with res wire. Ill even go as far to say I "enjoy" making genny wicks more than coils for GG because its damn easy. The GG stuff is for tinkerers, or those who don't mind spending lots of time playing around with setups. I like the end result, but I'd rather spend time vaping than building.

Yeah, I've got a couple of Terms, but I like them over my genny's. I think of genny's like you think of the Oddy types. That NR wire thing is crucial too, one week they go together like butter, next I can't get them right to save my life. Now that I think about it, that's how re-wicking a genny kinda is for me too, so maybe it's me and not the devices. Anyway, hoping the Kayfun will trump them both.

From Rev mine was 181.95 (taxless). Thought I'd calculated 9's at around 210 shipped, but I was guessing. You're right though, not really enough to matter at that point, minus the wait.

i got a Diver in, you need n/r, and r wire... thats one thing but the TINY ceramic; forget about it.... i'm not going to even try the premade coil out.
Just going to pack it up with the new DCT ibtanked kit and off to the classies with it.... no freaking way am i going to try to even SEE my way into that little coiling area!
I ordered a Kayfun beta (only one type left)... but the finish will match my Satin ELA i figure.
I have had a Prometey paid for but when ever it gets here it'll probably be after the ELA/Kayfun....
I'm sold on dripper rba's too, after so many Genesis atomizers, but it'll be good to have both types.

thanks for the heads up on the Kayfun at Vaperev!

Huh, I just watched a tutorial on rebuilding a kayfun and my impression was the exact opposite. Looks like it takes two screwdrivers and a lot of patience to wick and fill a kayfun, not to mention a tolerance for wasting quite a bit of juice when filling through the check valve and you fill too quickly or at the wrong angle. Whereas the only tools required for re-wicking a gg or clone are the scissors for wick trimming, and you can fill at pretty much any speed. I guess I'll find out firsthand in a few days, though. :) I'm in for a brushed kayfun from vaperev.

I read the PDF for the Kayfun. It says to check atomizer resistance. Do you have to do that with all the RBA's?

With my Penelopes and Terminator I just eyeball it. You can pretty much guess that a half inch, about 3 turns over 2 of 34 gauge kanthal around 3mm wick will be about 1.8-2.0 ohms. Trial and error and practice, and you might never need to meter your coils. I don't, anyway.

Yes, it's very important to make sure you've built it correctly and don't have a short, ie the coil is shorting to the deck, to itself, a post, etc... I generally just build them on my Vamo ('bout the only use it gets nowadays). Once you get good at it it's not quite as important, as you know better what to look for and how it should behave. I'll wick a few of my drippers untested, but only cause I don't care quite as much what the ohms say, and I can tell if its behaving correctly, and I've gotten to the point where I'm better at judging the lengths needed to get to a particular ohm range. At first I struggled with that.

in my experience, if you have enough ROOM in there, drippers with silica (vs. ss mesh) are much easier to get going (unless you're dealing with n/r wire and r wire combo's... btw they sell premade coils for Pene/Ody etc).
I also like using XS 116 or 118 sleeve as wicks for drippers.

The Kayfun looks like a dripper with a filler material tank... similar to the Spheroid, Prometey... etc.

per you question, i suggest getting a table-top Ohm reader, like from MadVapes... some Provari's etc won't read below 1.0 Ohms, [unless you are not considering SLR....]
