I'm getting ready for my ELA. On the Super-T website, there are two chargers I am looking at. xtar VP1 Intelligent Charger and Pila IBC 4 Stage Intelligent Charger. Anyone have an opinion? Thanks! :)

I don't have a Pila, but I've had the Xtar VP1 for 4 or 5 months now. It's definitely better than the other chargers that I've had in the past, and I think that it's safe to say that it's on par with the Pila. I like the digital display, and assuming that its accurate (don't have a multimeter to check), all my batts come off the charger between 4.17-4.19V. I also like that it has three charging rates (0.25A, 0.5A, and 1.0A).

i agree with path... i also have the vp1 which i got from super t. i love it! it doesn't over charge and the multimeter is awesome! i keep it at .25A since i think i read somewhere that it's the 'best' way to charge batteries. also, if you're using it to charge a 10xxx batt, it has to be .25A anyway.

can't say anything about a pila but my old charger is some cheap trustfire charger.... reliable but i def love the vp1... oh the vp1 comes with a car adapter too so you can charge on the go if you need to :D

I have one as well. I like it, it does a fine job, and has some options and failsafes. I just wish there was a four port/slot version.

I'm sure some will shake their heads on this question .. but ......

The ELA uses IMR batteries. I just assumed, they were protected. I now see, they are not. The CR123's I use on my current vape are protected. Anyone have any concerns using unprotected batteries?

Thanks for dealing with my lack of knowledge! :)

(AW) IMR are best for LR resistances, and are "safe chemistry" as far as that goes...
They (AW) are considered the standard for quality, although there are some that are said to be as good if not better.

Just needed you pros to tell me 'It's all good'! Thanks! :)
A little while ago I was sitting here thinking "Damn. I've been on ECF far too much today". Especially for a guy who seemingly has everything he wants working exactly the way he likes. There's just that much to learn, and good people too.

There are good people on here! Like I said before, I wish you were all local. If you guys were local, I would throw a huge party for all of us! :)

I'm a little confused......so what is the current wait time on these? Roughly 6 months?

I sure hope not, just waited 4 mos for a dam atty. I emailed a couple people at Super T and they told me approx 6-8 weeks, however my number is 16272. I was told around the end of July begining of Aug. Not sure how realistic that is seeing the simple math the guy did a few pm's earlier. I sure hope I didnt get the ropa Dope lol. Anyway the product is worth a wait. Btw Bucketmouth. Do you go to college on the Eatern Shore or Live there? My Family lives down off Nanticoke rd near Sailsbury.
Wanted to ask also, If the product isnt already made, why were the Satin not available for order?

If I recall correctly, the media blasting required to produce the satin finish is an extra step... It was taken off the menu in order to streamline production and speed up the assembly process of the remaining orders.

If I got that wrong, someone, please correct me...

I just picked up a couple of AW P18650's (3400mAh) for the ELA, no problem there right? By the way, Super-T has the Tanbur Stainless Steel T-Tip back in stock, if already posted my apologies.

3400mAh is a protected LiCo (lithium cobalt chemistry) battery. Unfortunately, not ideal for our purposes. High drain LiMn (lithium manganese chemistry) batteries are better suited for e cigs.

The reason is that e cigs can put fairly significant amp loads on batteries... More than enough to trigger the protection circuit of the battery. The two AW batteries that are recommended are the AW 1600 mAh and the AW 2000 mAh. Both of these are "high drain" IMR (LiMn) batteries.

Oddly enough, this is one area where a battery's "energy capacity" is of far less concern than it's "discharge capacity". The MNKE 1400 mAh battery has an almost cult-like following because of its 20 amp continuous/ 30 amp pulse discharge rating. It's able to maintain a high voltage output under heavy amp loads. The same for AW 1600 IMR, with it's 24 amp discharge rating.

Bear in mind that this is largely dependent on atomizer resistance. The lower the resistance, the greater the amp load and the more critical battery selection becomes.
