So I fell down the rabbit hole. I've been vaping for 10 months now and I decided it was time to purchase a high-end mod. After joining this forum and reading a few posts, I decided to get the ELA. Currently I'm using the Kick on a Silver Bullet so I'm excited to try it on the ELA. Can't wait to get it, but what atty should I buy in the meantime? Something that will look great on the ELA and preferably be easy to get?

Also, what are good drip tips to match and where to get them? I got the brass accents.

Yay! Another ELA in San Diego!

No offense intended to you, but I personally feel that is a garbage rip-off from a garbage vendor with questionable business practices, terrible machining and a terrible attitude.

With that said, I hope the device works out for you, I just won't be spending any money on his stuff.

Edit: not talking about the ELA, obviously :p

Wow. You sound like me when I get an attitude about a company! Love it! Just say Comcast, and off I go! :)

You took the words right out of my mouth! Had dude not been threatened I believe he still wouldn't of shipped. Even still some have not had their units shipped, but I noticed a reseller got theirs.

GhostModder, Dave Richie, I think the spelling is correct.

Well, there's your problem, there. If he's a ghost, then obviously he has very little concern with corporeal affairs. What interest does an apparition have in vaping mods, anyway? He's probably haunting an attic or something instead of shipping units.

Yep, it is. I just happened to meet the guy at a local vape meet and had a chance to shoot the breeze with him briefly. Seemed to be a nice fellow and I kind of wanted to try an all brass mod for myself to see if I could detect any differences in the way they hit.

Here are a couple of differences that "I" see between the GM & the ELA. ELA weighs about 1.5 oz more, is 1/10th of an inch longer when standing upright and the ELA is a tiny bit wider to accommodate David's mechanism for expansion/contraction. All in all, both feel pretty tiny in my hands. As for the way an all brass mod hits? I've only been testing this one for a few hours but I cannot detect any difference at all from the way the GM hits compared to the way the ELA hits. That's with both the Nimbus sub ohm build and my Ody 1.9 ohm build. Which appears to be the more "quality" build? No contest, David wins hands down. I've traded off all my other expandable mods as I don't care much for the "screw/unscrew" designs and builds. David's ELA is a "keeper" for me. I don't need to list all the good points about the ELA in this thread as others have described them far more eloquently than I several times.

is that a GM "group buy" device? if so, i have one winging in .... :) cant see the logo.

Give it a few weeks, you WILL notice a difference between the ELA and how the brass clone hits.

I will NEVER buy another mechanical mod from any other vendor besides super T, not even another reo (I actually need to sell a few reos off, they sit on the shelf collecting dust). What he offers is a mere bargain compared to some of these other guys. They charge for their "work of art" instead of their quality. Sorry but work of art isn't going to keep me off the smokes! I just don't comprehend other peoples theory of thinking.

Money to waste I guess.

I fully agree with the "stripped threads" comment and think of all the time one will need to spend cleaning the oxidation off of not only the contacts but also the threads to keep it firing properly.

I personally am always impressed with these people that actually start building these devices as a business. It is not easy to make a business successful and most people make lots of "mistakes" or encounter "bumps in the road" and etc. on their journey to be successful. Some make it but most don't. We mere "consumers" of their products usually have little insight into the challenges these people face while trying to build their business.

I just looked at the site.....100% Brass mods=striped threads eventually.....

I don't need fancy etchings and stuff. To me, quality machining, is a 'work of art'. :)

From what little I know, and I mean little, The only thing that makes a difference in conductivity are the connections? I mean the outside or what the actual main body of the PV is made of would not really aid or hinder? Basically a plastic MOD with good rhodium/gold contacts would basically hit just as hard?

A mod completely made of brass is not going to make it better, nor worse, but like all know, it is softer so eventually parts wear and tarnish. Is there some sort of brass alloys that is harder? I know that I have some antique jewelry made of what they call Jewelers brass it is stronger and does not tarnish like reg brass. Its beautiful and I hardly ever polish it. It is not coated, its just a better quality and even good jewellers swear its gold.

There are some aluminum brass/copper alloys that are pretty impressive in terms of oxidation and conductivity, and of course there's beryllium copper (though it's not all that pretty, and it's considered hazardous to machine by some), but from my understanding, conductivity differences over the distances involved in PV's isn't likely to be all that noticeable among the commonly used metals, and it's primarily the number of junctions and their tolerances/connections, like An Avid said, that make the biggest differences. oh, and the switch.

There's no denying that I'm a huge Super-T fan. If it holds an 18mm battery and came from Super-T, I've got it... (technically, still waiting on my P+ 18350 to be delivered)

That said, there's no way I would say that I won't buy a mech anywhere else. There are other high quality devices in the same price range. They aren't better or worse... Just different. Variety is, after all, the spice of life. ;)

Wow, you must have had a very bad personal experience with this builder. I feel your pain. I recently had a very bad experience with a towing company (towed my daughter's car without permission causing lots of damage) and their insurance company. I now have to take this problem into court to see if a judge can rectify the problem.

I can only hope that I don't have similar experiences with him. :)

BTW, I've always enjoyed reading your posts and viewing your pics..
