Thanks for all the tips! I took the post out and worked the button back and forth for some time, and it is getting looser. On the plus side, it does not seem to fire unlocked standing up even if I push down on it, but I'd still prefer to lock it when it's not going to be used for a while.

Now that I have it I do have one major regret -- should have bought 2 when I had the chance!

Just got my ELA today – doing the happy dance! However, having a problem with the locking button (the tab on the button that slides to lock). It just won’t move unless extreme force is used. Is that normal?

I did my best to go through the past posts to see if there was an answer, but didn’t see it. Any insight someone could share would be appreciated!

While I don't have my elusive ELA yet. (still think it's just a dream ). On both of my P+ the lock was really hard to move when I first got em. The one I use the most is really easy now. The one that doesn't go out much is still really stiff. They will break in in time. Be patient with it. Have a firm talk with it. Show it who the boss really is.
(Yea I do talk to these kinds of objects. Sometime with great success. Other times, Well there's always the trash can)
But NEVER WITH ONE OF MY BABIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I forgot to mention in my above post, visualize the current returning from the atomizer and what junctions it has to cross to return to the bottom of the battery. Another critical junction is the compression ring to extension tube junction. If you remove the compression ring and look inside, you'll see an aluminum band in there, hit that with a bit of fine sandpaper or steel wool too. I've been meaning to put some of those up on the site too as spare parts since there only a few bucks and easy to switch out. If you overtighten the compression ring, the aluminum band inside can deform and loose some of its clamping ability.

One of my ELA's needs one of these compression rings. My other two don't suffer from anything like this one. I always figured it could have been this ring that was the culprit.

Anavidfan(Pris): So happy to see a post! For those who don't know, Pris has been feeling a bit 'under the weather' lately. I hope, this is a sign you are 'on the mend'! Sending good thoughts and hugs your way! Welcome back! We missed you!

YES!!! Welcome back Sweetie,

You were missed... hope you're once again... feeling up to par!
If you haven't keeping up with things let me bring you up to speed...

Someone said bla, bla, bla...and then someone replied bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, and then... we all went ooooh.

And... that was about it.

Feel free to jump in anytime..soon

Is it the inner aluminum ring inside the connection ring? Because mine is really warped. Might be the culprit, I could not figure out how to properly take it off to clean the black gunky stuff.

Yeah, I took slip ring out improperly I suppose because I warped it in the process. Had to squeeze it to pull it out, and now it doesn't fit tight against the wall of the tube making the extension tube a very tight fit.

I Don't know if I should take it out again to fix it, or if that'll make it worse. For now it works, and has loosened slightly over the last couple weeks. I don't want to send it in just for that.

I never thought of naming a mod, but now I think I will call my ELA "Zipper" because of the sound it makes now :)

Thanks for the tip, but it's still very stubborn. Got major dents on my fingertips from this! If I take the button out from the housing I can work the locking post back and forth, but it takes major effort. When it is assembled, moving the locking post is nearly impossible.

I'm not sure if it was mentioned, but you might try a "schmeer" of Noalox.
As the back of the bottle says..."Noalox reduces galling and seizing... AND promotes good ground continuity. (it contains Zinc)

I use it on ALL new hardware (at least at first) just work it into the threads (or firing pin) until you get the burrs smoothed out.
Even if you don't use it all the time, It does wonders when you're "breaking in" you're new gear.

Keep in mind that it attracts "crud" of all kinds. Thus, you'll need to clean if off, and reapply when you feel it getting "sticky"??
Not sure if that's the right word to use but you'll know when it needs it.

That about sums it up but...Um, in case things are weird with some, I did start a rumor about you being sent to county lock up for being in a knife fight with another woman. In the story, she started it and it was self defense but you gutted her like a trout so people maybe a little afraid of you now.

Thank you David for chiming in, clearing that up, and yes hitting the ring with some very fine sand paper cleared up almost everything lol. The whole lock ring assembly is the only bit of my ELA that went untouched by soap and warm water. Going to go pick up some steel wool as i've heard it is much easier on metals than sandpaper. Any truth to that? Sorry to bug you with questions of this nature I just want to take care of my ELA's the best I can :D

So I picked up my first Super T product in a trade. It was a P+ 18350 I gave a kayfun lite for it. One of the best trades I ever made. I had seen pic's of the P+ before and wasn't all that impressed to be honest. However, pictures just do not do this mod justice. Since that day I have managed to get a P+ 18500 as well, these two mods are my favourite devices. Today though I managed to get my hands on an ELA.
I couldn't be happier with it.

Really? I heard it was a gun. Funny how those rumors go. Hmm. :)

I got a piece of sandpaper with mine too. I didn't know it was for the inside. I sanded all the grooves out of the accent rings and the extension tube and sanded the lock ring knurling down to kind smooth. It doesn't look that good anymore. Kind of like a monkey played with it. Thank goodness for the life time refinishing guarantee.
