The only thing I think you might have problems with is screwing down the bottom contact back on tight enough. I use a credit card to get it to screw off as snork instructed. Credit card is safe enough so it doesnt scratch. Only problem is getting it back on tight enough.

WHen I sent my ELA back in apparently it was not on tight. Believe me I used all my strength to tighten it back down, in fact I broke the credit card doing it. Im sure it wont be a problem with all you guys with strong man hands, but for those like Cucco and I with our hand problems, its quite a task.

Maybe breaking my credit card might just be a good thing!!!!
Strong man hands? Not on this old man. I usually get one of the young uns at work to tighten things up. Or have my sweetie do it for me.
Thanks advid for the info on how to clean. I woke up early with things in mind. But a nap is sounding a whole lot better. After all it is my day off.
The girls got up about 5 hours after I did. I got more done then, than they will all day.
Later folks. Advid I'll be sending you a Pm after while. I got my plunger springs. We can work out the details later. Ok ?
(Sorry for getting your name wrong. Eye is tired. And it's the only one that works. )

I wonder if you could go to the local hardware store and get a keyway stock that would fit in there...

I wish I could get access to my tools! They are all still packed in my trailers. :( I have not unpacked, because I have yet to figure out where I want to be, when I grow up this time. I love tools! I have a tool, for just about any task. Machinist tools. Key and lock making tools. Specialty tools. Beautiful SS tools! :)

You made me think a guitar pick 2.0mm would work well.

Mom had cataract surgery one time and I sang this to her. She said she was feeling depressed and sorry for herself until she heard this song, then she just cackled.

Brass is cool when its polished, but as soon as you touch it the tarnish begins....;)

Actually, its oxygen in the air that makes brass patina. I would believe that the amino acids in your own body oils and sweat would remove the patina from brass. I know it does it on my copper tube.

Hmmm... I own some ozone generators. I wonder, what ozone would do to brass? Possibly, excelerate the patina process?

Simichrome helps. When I polish with Flitz my brass starts to turn again after 3 or 4 days. Simichrome keeps the brass gleamy and bright for a month or more.

I've already given my dissertation on Simichrome vs. Flitz, under magnification the Simichrome leaves a smoother glass-like finish. Flitz leaves a more porous finish ergo oxidation gets a foothold quicker. By comparison no nooks & crannies with Simichrome to kickstart the corrosion process.

One of the best setups ever. Love the ELA with the Squape.

Pris, how the heck do you get that little ball detent thing out of the button? I can't get mine out for love or money. Same goes for both ELA and one of my P+ units. I take off the rhodium plated button part and try to push it out from the back side but it won't budge. What am I missing? I feel like I'm about to break something trying to get it out.

Hi Tnt, I dont think there is an "official" link or how to, but when I give my ELAs a bath , I just take them apart, soak them in dish washing soap and hot tap water. I used to take the locking and compression ring apart, but I dont want to mess the compression ring up , so I just take a soft brush and give it a good scrubbing inside and out as well as I can. Rinse and then go over everything with alcohol. You would be surprised even after hot water and soap and careful scrubbing, how much dirt still comes off the inside of the compression ring and inside parts of button.

Here is a photo of the parts just on the button. HINT HINT, I wish Super T would do a in depth and detailed video on total breakdown, including the locking ring, top contact and button etc.

PS the last time I cleaned, I just didnt take the contact off, just the parts on the locking system. If you notice, the gunk on the qtip is after I had alread washed and scubbed. That came out of the hole where the little black pin and the contact screws in.

I didn't see David take it out in his button cleaning video..

My problem is that I have a button on which the locking slide does not work very well. I have cleaned it every way I can think of, short of taking out the ball detent thingy. Regular cleaning works for a couple of days, then it starts to stick again. I suspect the ball bearing part might bee the problem, I just can't get it out without brutal force.
