I just impressed myself.

I won a bottle of 90% vg juice (that hasn't arrived yet) and in preparation I was looking through my RDAs. I have one I got for my mechs that I'm not particularly fond of, since it is so airy MTL is impossible, but I thought it might fit the bill. I opened it up to rewick and discovered it's a dual coil measuring 0.8Ω. It's been so long I forgot I that I'd built it. I know it's only 0.8, but it's a dual coil! When I vape 90% vg in it will I finally be a real vaper?

I only bought it because it's tiny and I wanted it for my mechs in 18350 mode. Here it is on my Gus Kiss QE (next to MY bronze mini, not HB's)

I rebuilt on the Sophia V2 again just to get some practice. It tastes bitter this time. I know it had to be something I did since this juice tasted sweet before I rebuilt. Has anyone ever had a bitter taste before?

Now might be a good time to ask what you guys used to clean your RBA's. Having been a carto tank person I have not yet cleaned atomizer parts yet.

I have been using an ultrasonic cleaner as recommended by several members. Just add a bit of dishwashing soap with warm to hot tap water.

I will see if I can get an ultrasonic cleaner locally, I might have to order one as this is a very low population county.

Odd thing, I rebuild again and the bitter taste is gone. Any Ideas on what I did to create a bitter taste? I have never had this kind of bitter taste before while vaping.

I believe that the height of the coil over the air hole can affect taste. I'm still relatively new to coil building (a bit over 6-7 months), so there are other members much more knowledgeable than me who can answer.

You could be getting dry hits, for a 50/50 blend I have the juice control open two or two and a quarter turns, my wick barley touches the bottom of the channel.

What is your build?

I want to drop in to thank Blake and all the people at Provape. They repaired my much loved 2.5 and got it back to me in record time. I don't think any company has equal or better customer service.
They do... R O C K ! ! !

Congrats!!!

Make sure you wash your hands when rebuilding/rewicking, especially after pulling out the nasty old wick. You can inadvertently transfer all sorts of unpleasant residues onto your nice new coil and wick that will cause all kinds of foul flavors to happen. They'll usually go away after a few hours, but that's still a few hours of ewwwww that can be avoided.

John, allow me to chime in & say unless you absolutely need an USC, get yourself a lil cheapo toothbrush & a small bottle of dawn dishwashing liquid. In under 5 min you'll be done cleaning whatever you need to clean.

About 2 years ago, ultrasonics were all the rage for cleaning & speed steeping. I can count on one hand how many x's I've used mine & can honestly say I haven't used it once this year.
