the hate just needs to stop.
ALL hate.
Yes it does.

You actually explained that perfectly. Very well done. May I copy that quote and tuck it away for future reference?
Thank you, of course you may.
I just wish I could remember exactly how the tour guide explained it that day, because I honestly butchered his fine job of explaining it. ;)

...and, for the record, we (my DH and I) do not have even one single gun.

Given that we have a lot on our plates with the move right now and I'm certainly not feeling very social these days, I'm taking some time off the forum.

I do want to say that I applaud everyone's right to their individual views, even if I don't personally agree with them.

I'll see you'z guy'z in a couple weeks.

Rod signing off for a while.........
Sorry to see you go, Brother. Hope you get some rest.

Maybe better than the radiation suits we'll all need if there's the 'other' candidate in the White House.

I find it funny to think people actually believe the President actually has the codes to start a nuclear war. Clinton really is good at selling such bs to the people. Thanks for the laugh.

See, and that really hacks me off. I don't care what side you vote, if you're on a terrorist watch list you should not be able to get a gun legally, and I also agree, basic gun classes should be mandatory.
I did hear a debate regarding the mental stability issue, and I could kind of see both sides, the way the version I'd heard discussed was written, it was pretty broad as far as the meds it was trying to include, and if the person had "ever" in their "entire" life been on certain, specific meds, it nullified their right to own a gun ever...I can't remember all the particulars, but at the time, I remember thinking that as was written, it was a bit of a slippery slope.
However, there would be plenty of instances where those who are on many of the meds have absolutely no business with a firearm.
Sandy Hook comes to mind.

Our legislators on both sides should be absolutely ashamed that they aren't working together on cross referencing people on terror lists, and the basic things you pointed out in your post. That's sad.

...seriously, just my 2 cents, worth exactly what you paid for them. :)

That's a great article!! :)
Yeah, I'll NEVER go see a Mental Health Therapist even if I feel a need. I'm not going to lose my concealed carry permit...

No, that's cool. I just have a hard time explaining my thoughts sometimes and that's basically it in a nutshell. It will save me some time and effort, that's all. :thumb:

As I read through these last couple of pages it struck me how we as a nation truly are a house divided. Regrettably, I fear there will be no mending this wound and the republic as we know it will pass into the history books as yet another chapter in the encyclopedia of human ignorance.

The unanswered question is who was ignorant? I'll go down as a flag waving red, white, and blue American who has watched protesters burning the American flag, waving Mexican flags, throwing eggs at women, chasing down young men on the streets and beating them, destroying police cars, and to make matters worse throwing rocks which resulted in a dead police horse. All to protest a Presidential candidate who has the legal right to freedom of speech. Those cowards didn't show up at Rolling Thunder for some reason.

To me, what is sad to see is the loss of respect for the viewpoint of the other side - that's the divisive part in politics and seemingly much of the country. I've seen some opinions expressed here that I strongly disagree with but I respect the individual's right to have that opinion. Just because someone is different or their beliefs are different doesn't mean you can't find anything in common or respect them otherwise. We've gotten out of control with hate and rage. No need to throw stones or worse (peace, love, live and let live). I miss the days of Tip O'Neill arguing with his opponents then going out to have a beer (and smoking a cigar) with them.

I agree with all of this 1000%.

I also want to say I am truly sorry if I have offended anyone in any way, shape, or form.

I learn by listening to other's points of view, and my outlook and opinions are always being shaped.

I owe my life to this forum and the people here. It's what's kept me off of the stinkies, and I would never want my words or opinions to ever offend anyone.

I am just so grateful for the friendships I've formed here, even if we all don't see eye to eye on every subject.

:)

Ping, we're friends. Of that I'm sure. But let's not turn this into a Clinton vs Trump discussion. You vote for who you think is best prepared to keep America great. And I'll do the same. God Bless that we live in a country where we have the right to do that and our vote counts.

Lordy be we are friends. I understand why you are heart broken, but my friend you are not seeing the entire picture. Maybe a pm to explain my view might be helpful.
