I have not posted for a few months; In Jan I was told I had Cancer of the esophagus. Since then I have had chemo, radiation, and a surgery that removed 2/3 of the esophagus and 1/3 of my stomach, I am back to eating regular food now. Have been told I am cancer free.

This was caused by acid reflux and nothing else.

Great to be back.
Welcome back and congratulations on 'Cancer Free'!

Rod, no, I don't know the folks. I'm so out of it that I didn't even know about the show or them until a couple of months ago. They have become this sort of cult. People come from all over the country to go to their store--and you don't want to get near there on a Saturday. One of the guys at the bank told me people actually move here just so Chip and Joanna can do their house. Nuts!

Still, I guess it's good news for Waco after the Branch Davidians, which didn't happen in Waco, and the Baylor football team scandal, which did.
This is good to know. My wife and I have been wanting to go up there to visit the Silos. We watch that show all the time. I have always kinda liked Waco. Have actually thought about moving up there, as I am getting tired of living in Houston.

Interesting article about people having Chip and Joanna do a house for them, then renting it out. It's not sitting well with them:

"Fixer Upper" Clients Are Renting Out Their Homes—and Chip and Joanna Aren't Happy About It

Wow. Not to say I would not pass up a chance to stay in one of those homes or all of them, but let me tell you if they did a home for me there would be no way in hell I would rent it out. Actually if I did have one and decided or needed to move I would get with them and give them the chance to buy it. But that is just me and my Texas values.

I realize it's TV and much can be scripted, but when you see one of their shows, you get the true sense they believe they are transforming a "forever" home for the client. I can understand their concerns about this.

Oh ya I agree. This is one of my favorite shows though. I really enjoy it. I think the people on the show are really lucky to get one of their houses.

We were watching an episode we'd already seen last night and Charlie suggested we should move to Waco and get a Chip and Joanna home! I don't know if you knew that Joanna furnishes the homes they do and the owners have the option to buy the furnishings if they want. I'd have to take it the way Joanna envisioned it. But for me, she'd have to do my house using a more contemporary flair. I'd still want the warmth, just less traditional.

Ya I had read that. You would need that mid century mod house they did. Lol remember the one that had the garden inside. That was super cool. I really wish I had a favorite. I did like the one with the double island and it had reclaimed wood on the ceiling above it. The shot gun house was great too, but way too small for my needs.

There isn't a home they've done that I didn't like. I loved the little Shotgun house, but as you said, waaaaaaay too small. It's one of the homes that is rented now. I did love the mid-century modern house. Joanna had to really step out of her comfort zone on that one!

They are my favorite couple on HGTV. I read that article you posted, Rod, and was VERY surprised that the Harp house may be one that will be rented out. He is the guy that makes those pieces for her to be used in her remodels.

I wonder if there was a disconnect in their working relationship over this....

It seems just wrong to take advantage of the fact that a 'name' remodeled a home. If you know what I mean.

I was truly stunned to read Clint is renting out the house they did for him. They've made him a national sensation and people from all over the country are asking him to make furniture for them. It's a rags to riches story for sure and he owes it all to them. I don't know if this has put a wrinkle in their relationship, but then maybe he no longer needs their business? Can you say "Bite the hand that feeds you?" Clint evidently can.......

I am reserving judgement until new shows come out. It may be Jojo and Chip have given their blessing to Clint? We don't know.

It will be very telling if they do not use Clint in new shows.

Per the article the mid century is up for rent too. You and Charlie should rent it out. If you do have a party and the wife and I will drive on up. Lol

Having just bought our new home in Tampa, and sinking a bazillion $$'s into it, I think we're staying in Tampa! LOL
