Hello,

I am considering buying the Protege. I currently have the USB Manual PT Prodigy. I am looking for the convenience of a battery powered devise but also being able to tie up with USB. I would like to keep the USB PT Prodigy at home but carry the protege to work/out and about and would like to option use the protege with USB.

I am a bit confused on the PS website and what options I have. I see they have this...

The Protege/USB Adapter (Stainless Steel) (I do not have enough posts to link it but is under the protege product section on the PS website)

I am a little confused on what this product actually does. Does this fit on the Prodigy PT or is this a complete protege with a USB cable or something entirely different?

Doh! I placed the order not too long after this post. It seems my order is no longer editable.

Is it a big difference between the Prodigy (battery version) and the Protege?

Protege is smaller, and will run at 3.7v

Prodigy is larger, and "stock" runs at 5v, but if you order the unresistored switch can run at 3.7/6v+.

Also, another thing you are confused on... there is no "Prodigy pass-through" or "Protege pass-through". There is the Prodigy, the Protege, and the PT (pass-through). 3 different devices.

The Protege is about the same size as the pass-through (minus the USB cable), and they use the same adapters... but that's it.

Thanks. Not to sound dense... how does 3.7v to 5v translate in vapor/hit?

Problem right now is that you can't order the prodigy or the PS PT. The protege is a preorder. So don't expect anything soon.

No worries... it was clearly stated on the site when I ordered the protege. But now I am worried about it being "up to par" with the PT in terms of hit/vape.

I've seen some youtube vids on the protege and looked like it vaped quite well.

I have both the prodigy and the protege. The hit with the prodigy at 5.0 volts is better than the protege. I think the Steve did some voltage measurements on the PS PT was about 4.1 volts.

I have made some adjustments in my nic juice and the protege really does well but it wont equal the 5.0 volt hit of the prodigy. The PT has another advantage of a constant voltage supply. Batteries can't get that constant stable voltage.

Your wait to actually get a V2 prodigy in your hands is undetermined.

I was in the same boat as you.. I went ahead and ordered the passthrough and the Protege. I plan on using the passthrough at home and in my car, while using the Protege while I'm out and about.. I figured I wouldn't really want to make a lot of vapor when I'm out in public, because if it makes anymore than I already am with the Janty Stick, then I'd probably get arrested. I wanted a small discreet device that didn't look like a pipe bomb that I could use when I'm running around. :)

I have all three and I use them this way:

Prodigy @ 5 volts: When I am craving a cig, first thing in the morning or right after a meal. I also just discovered using snus in an 801 cart and this is fantastic with the Prodigy. If you are using 3.7, holding the button for more than 1-2 seconds, to me results in a too strong hit and a harsher taste.

PS PT: I use lower nic levels and vape while at computer or in vehicle. Not quite as strong as dripping on the Prodigy, but quite content to vape while doing other things. Use either 801 or 901. Shorten time holding button down or hit is toooo strong!

Protege: Aww, my favorite. Use it whenever I am out and about. Doesn't hit as strong as Prodigy or PT but vapor is great and it is so smooth and flavorful. I use a 901 with it.
