While I wait for Proteus, maybe somebody can tell me this: Not that I'm planning it, but if I were to use some lesser/other grade of titanium or even some other wire altogether like Kanthal, how will Proteus react?
it may work but maybe it will be overloaded Snork (10 quick blinks like on a short). Thats what I have notice but it doesnt happen always.

I just received my shipping notification! Thank you Jesse!

I'm already on the USPS website hitting refresh like in the good old "F5 wars" days on COV. I realize that it won't make it get here any quicker, but it gives me peace of mind until Proteus arrives. Looks like it's time to charge up those batteries that I bought four years ago, and the newer ones that I bought more recently.

Thank you very much. I can't wait to join the ranks of the Proteus Legion.

I'm disappointed in the USPS though. The post office that it is shipping from is only 8 hours away, but I somehow won't get it until Friday (72 hours). Neither rain, nor sleet, nor falling snow, we'll deliver your crap.....eventually. (I realize that's not the actual postman's creed, but patience has officially gone out the window. I want my Proteus!!!!)

Just got my Proteus. Installed the battery like the instructions say. The device locks, then i put the Penelope 4 on with Titanium Grade 1 (from the Golden Greek Store). I get the red flashing rapidly, then nothing, it does not do anything else....

Bad board????

What is the resistance?

What gauge of wire are you using?

My Proteus had the same behavior, but I was using Titanium G1 26AWG, which is too thick to fit in the Penelopes with a resistance above 0.45 ohms.

I managed to fit a 0.55 ohms, 2.5mm diameter, 26AWG Ti G1 coil, the Proteus sometimes completed the detection process successfully (no ten fast red LED blinks), but I think the current it needs to heat that amount of wire could exceed the max amperage (8.8 amperes), I think that is why the detection process fails most of the times.

To retry the detection process, unscrew the battery cap to open the circuit, then tighten it back.

The TiG1 wire I bought at The GG Store arrived today, this time I got 0.35mm diameter wire (27 AWG), I will make a new coil right now and report the results :)

----

Ten (10) fast RED blinks: Your atomizer has a lower resistance than VIR can handle or your atomizer is shorting. Check your atomizer or make a new coil. Before you make a new coil, wash your atomizer under running water to remove any small pieces of wires which may be shorting it. In rare situations, the 10 fast red blinks may appear if the current that goes to atomizer is more than VIR's limit (8.8 amperes).

This is the Ti G1 26AWG 0.55 ohms coil (turns are not touching each other), I'm making a new coil with the new wire right now, I'll report the results...
