I have put 4 different builds in my Penny 4. each with Ti Gr1. Still no orange light.

I just took the penny off. I have 26 guage Ti gr1 with 6 wraps 1.5mm. Measured the resistance at the base of the atty....my mutlimeter is reading 2.2 ohms!!!

Before that build I disassembled the entire deck, to make sure it was clean and clear.
I will try to mess with it after work. Not sure how long i can sit at my desk and keep building before the boss man says something....LOL

I'm having the same problem, this is the coil I just installed:

Wire: Titanium Grade 1, 0.35 mm, 27 AWG.
Coil Diameter: 2.5 mm.
Resistance: ~ 0.5 Ohms.

(everything is snug and tight)

imho that still is a lot of wire.
I tried with .34mm Ti Gr1, but have a far more satisfying and longer lasting vape now on a .25 (AWG 30) Ti Gr1 from ESG.
To me it's perfect, at around .7 Ohms (don't recall cause it has been in there for weeks, but something like a 8 wrap around 2mm iirc)

Yes AWG30 Ti is fiddly, but worth it. And I haven't had to change the wick once. Still tastes like the first day. Wonder how much longer it will last. I've promised a picture some pages back once I open my Pene up for a rewick :)

keigles, really sorry for your fiddly experience.

But the guys are right, if it is red blinks it usually means Proteus can't fire it. I had that with too low Ti .34mm builds as well.
Another issue could be your batteries. Have you tried a different one if you're positive that your build is "Proteus compatible"?
And if your resistance reads too high: Make sure no varnish is on VIR's contacts as Imeo described a few pages back. (He put protective varnish on the chip and on some boards it covered the contacts. Mine did that when I got it, didn't detect at all. It was a nerve-wrecking day :) )

Good luck!

I have put several coils on it now. Something isn't right. I am using wire from The GG store, has the GG label grade 1 Ti 26 awg. I use a 2mm rod to wrap it on. 6 wraps and my multimeter is reading 2.2 ohms from post to post and from the base. I went down to 3 wraps, got the same blinking red light.

I will look for some other wire when i get home. The resistance is not where it should be. I use the same in my Tile...comes to about .5 ohms with 5 wraps.

GRRRR:-x

I think the resistance needs to be between .4 and 1 ohm. every build within those resistances have worked fine for me.

2.2 Ohms on 26G Ti1? Seems something is wrong here, agreed :)

What do you mean by "post to post"? The two posts on the build deck, i.e. no Proteus involved?

If it's really Ti1 and you had 6 wraps, it can't be 2.2 Ohms.

Is it possible that your multimeter is wrong? Do you have any other means, like another mod, to measure your coil?
If your multimeter is wrong, and you are indeed using 26g Ti1, you would need 15 wraps around 2mm for a .5 Ohms resistance.
In this case, Proteus is just right. The resistance of your coil is probably below what it can fire.
6 wraps of 26g Ti1 would come out to .2 Ohms...

calculations done with Coil wrapping

Best of luck! :)

Maybe it's 0.22Ω he is measuring?

@keighles: with 26G you'll need 10 wraps around 2.5mm or 12 wraps around 2.0mm to get a resistance above 0.4Ω. However, as @woita already pointed out, Proteus works better with thinner wire. This is because 14500 batteries are too weak and voltage may fall below 3.4V when heating large coils. I would recommend around 0.30mm (28 or 29 AWG) wire.

Ok. I'm having the same issue. After multiple builds, with multiple wrap counts, with the wire from FMS I just the the 10 rapidly flashing lights. I switched over to some 30 ga wire that I have and tried multiple builds with different wrap counts, starting at 5. It took 15 wraps before I received the solid orange light. The only problem is that, although it vapes, it has a slight burnt taste and I keep getting the solid red light each time. My batteries are fully charged, so I know that's not the issue. I tried 8 different batteries.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is that wire Ti1? I tried with SS and had that effect. Burnt taste, red light. It's because Proteus thinks the wire is far "colder" than it actually is.

I guess I have to wait for the thinner wire arrives.

I made a new resistance, this time of 0.65 ohms, same 0.35mm 27AWG wire, around 13 wraps on 2.5mm rod.

Same result :(

I do not understand why, because all is in the valid parameters.

Still same as in the vid above? Red blinks while detecting? Maybe really close to VIR's boundary - did you try a different battery?
But probably you wouldn't have much fun with that much wire in it anyway.

Hope it'll work out for you with thinner wire. Since you kept track of all the serial reservations and all, you really, really deserve a working Proteus :)

Yes, it is TI gr1. Maybe I'm just lazy or I just keep getting tired of wasting TI gr1 wire trying to figure out the magic formula. Thank you so much for trying to assist me. I'm heading out of town tomorrow night and would like to have this thing working by then.

Thanks @woita

Yes, same result, as shown in the video.

I do not think is related to the wire gauge, as it is inside the recommended values and the resistance is not that low (0.65 ohms).

When I received it, after a lot of tries, I made it work using Ti G1 26AWG.

Weird because at the end I just tried and tried with the same coil, just taking out the battery and inserting it back again, until it ended the detection process properly (with the Ti G1 26AWG).

It worked, but not consistently.

Yes, I have tried with other batteries (fully charged).

I suspect maybe it has to do with the positive pin (the adjustable one), as it not rises above the 510 connector when the rebuildable part is fully tightened, I have to unscrew the adjustable pin more or less 2 full turns to feel resistance when screwing it on the Proteus.

Maybe that could be causing contact problems, but I'm just guessing.

Ok. Just got mine! Excited but batteries are still charging so I hope all will go well with the wire Jesse sent me. Thx Jesse.
My problem right now is when I screw on my Pene V3 I get little to no airflow at all. Am I missing something? Tried my Pene V2 and same result.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
