Afaik - don't have one yet, should arrive tomorrow - it requires a nipple-top and I don't think the Sanyo would do a good job (or work at all) since they are protected.

Protected batteries don't play well with regulated mods.
This one imho won't work cause it has a 2C limit, i.e. 1.68A.

VIR has a 8.8A limit - don't know if that's on the Atomizer or the battery circuit, but it seems impossible that 1.68A wold be enough hence protection would kill your vape.

I've bought my Efests from akkuteile.de, unfortunately they don't ship to the US.

it seems yes Jail. The work that VIR carries cant be paid. And I cant sell it at 250 euros, that is the minimum amount of money if I want to earn 20 euros from every piece.

But I will supported always as I do with all GG constructions, no one has to worry about that!

what about taking the technology of VIR and putting it into a bigger chip that is easier and cheaper to produce. then at least that way modders could use them and you could put them in a GG box mod :)

Looks like Imeo already answered this but this is exactly what I was thinking about. Larger size should hopefully be cheaper to produce it also might allow Imeo to add the features he had to remove. Additionally I think that a larger battery size would be more popular.

So, received my Proteus/VIR today - and it doesn't work :(

Here's what I did/experience:
* I threw in a battery, Proteus was blinking green. I waited until a long blue, i.e. Proteus locked itself, and screwed on my atty (Kayfun Mini V3 with a Ti1 coil @1.0 Ohm)
* 5-click to unlock and start detection - long blue (i.e. unlocked), but then...
* green blinking again followed by locking - so, no atty seen by proteus (?)
* I screwed the atty a little harder - all the way in
* 5-click to unlock and start detection
* fast reds blinks (around 6-8 - too fast too count ) and device is off, can only be reenabled by taking battery out (i.e. short)

I've tried with all my other atties after that - three Tiles, another Kayfun. One SS, two more Ti1, one Kanthal - with the same result. Either green blinking an re-locking or fast red blinks and device "dead" till reset.

I've disassembled Proteus completely, took out VIR, cleaned all threads - with same result.

Now, I'm no noob, but I really feel lost here - and I was looking so forward to this day. Well, it's May 20th, what good can come from a day where TPD2 is going live....

But still...I'm not giving up
Imeo, any suggestions? I have the feeling that at least positive contact is there when I screw my atty on normally, but Proteus doesn't seem to see it (where does it get it's negative from? The same as the battery connector?). When I screw really hard (i.e. red blinks) it feels too hard anyway, don't know how/where I could short it :(

I've noticed that on one side of VIR - where it slides into Proteus - there seems a bit of scrap and solder ... see pic.
Is that correct? Is there anything I can do?

ok, follow up.
Maybe I am a noob *blush*

Don't know what I did (I've played around for hours before writing the above) that makes it work but:
* rescrewed my KM3, not too hard, not too loose.
* Reinserted battery, did NOT wait until the lock, but pressed the button accidently during the green blinks.
* Then nothing happened, couldn't lock, couldn't do anything. I took out the battery veeery briefly (just unscrewed a little, while doing so I saw one short green blink, then off; don't know if this was coinicidence or what, I just try to mention everything I did and experienced, so it might help others) and then after power on... (and with out further ado, button presses or anything)

* short red blinks - i.e. detecting - wooohooo

* after a minute or so - long orange

->
IT VAPES!

very well so

I even dared to lock Proteus and take my KM off to reattach the Proteus AFC - for aesthetic reasons :)

Screwed atty back on, unlocked ...

IT VAPES!

Happy for now, hope this isn't going to be as wonky the next time I try to detect a coil....

Now, looking forward to a hopefully trouble-less vaping day on VIR :D

BTW - serial 83

Ok, it's working _very_ well - chain-vaping until bone dry.
No burnt taste, no problems - however, I'm dizzy now :D

Imeo, I love VIR already. What Esterigon parts to order already and when can we expect the VIR-plugin for Esterigon? :D
(just kidding, I'm happy now, KM3 is a bit big, but OK for Proteus)

Yeah...what the illustrious Mr. Society said.

I believe (not sure if it was in this thread or another) Imeo said that Proteus might recognize that there is a coil present, but there is little to no chance that it will actually do anything since it's programmed for Ti only due to a shortage of chip space.

But, hey, if you get yours before I do and decide to try out other wires please post any results (either positive or negative). I've got what seems like an infinite amount of silver NR wire and Kanthal from "ye olden days" and a Penelope V1 that has only seen the light of day twice in the last 4 years, which isn't supposed to work on the Proteus anyway.

I've got a V1 and a V2 Penelope. They don't see the light of day much.
NR wires connected to R wires...seems like very old technology. I only did what I could can back in the day to get the very best vape back in the day.
Now we have Springomizer going with no screws on Tilemahos.

Penelope V3 or V4 will match best with Proteus.

Penelope V3 and V4 doesn't have Springomizer but that's OK. I can deal with screws which guarantees a solid connection to Proteus using Titanium Grade 1 wire.

What's sad (no pun intended) is that I had just finished, quite spastically, building a mini arc welder with voltage adjustment for wire welding. When I say mini arc welder I mean that it could be used as an AED device (I realize saying "device" is redundant). It could probably re-start someone's heart or even possibly jump start a big rig (not meaning to be condescending, but that was sarcasm, for anyone who didn't pick up on it). I finally got it dialed in, to the point of not turning my wires into a blob that I had to dig out of the top of my coffee table, when the whole "no NR wires" leap in e-cig technology occurred.

I'm excited about trying my Penelope V4 mini on Proteus, but I'm worried about it being too airy. I usually like a moderately tight draw. When I put it on my JGG with the 510 connector (don't know if JGG came with one or if I borrowed it from one of my SS GGTS's) it was like sucking air through a straw. I'm thinking, and hoping, that with Proteus it will offer a tighter draw. Didn't Imeo mention something about producing a base without slots?

I'm pretty sure Imeo once mentioned VIR for JGG. Would be a bigger chip and hence easier and cheaper to mass produce. What do you say imeo?:nun::rolleyes::wub:.
