well the wait is over the new provari box mod is out.
I have no idea what they are thinking hitting the market with a 40w $199.99 US box mod at this point in the game.
Under powered over priced and no temp control, most of the body is made of plastic.
Do they have no idea where the market heading.dna 200,YIHI 350j v2.
Give your head a shake this is a newb mod worth about $50.00 CDN NOT $199.99 U.S.
Man! I have no idea what they were thinking!!!

They should know that EVERYONE NEEDS temp control on their mods! Gosh!

They should know EVERYONE NEEDS more than 40 watts! Gosh!

They should know EVERYONE NEEDS a mod made of all metal with no plastic! Gosh!

I'm so glad you're here to tell us what kind of mod I want or should buy. Not everyone wants all that crap! I know I don't, and I know a lot of others don't either!

But thanks anyway. Go troll for laughs somewhere else.

RPAD, I read your review and a couple thoughts. This being my first Provari I have to say that the mod is right up there with my DNA40 and SX350J and M chip. I think they are every bit in 2015 with the exception of TL.

To be clear, it wasn't a review. It was a column. I disagree that the feature set is current. Whether you use it or not, there are people that want more wattage, temperature control, and a lower build limit. Talking strictly about features (not build quality or support), the Radius' capabilities are behind the two major chips and even some lesser known chips

Not everyone is vaping below .3 ohms, honestly I believe the majority are vaping above that limit.

I believe that majority are too, but certainly it was a missed opportunity for ProVape to release a device that appeals to an extremely broad audience. Like I said in the column, there are many vapers that the Radius will appeal to.

It's a quality device with a lot of functionality. Granted I can't vape a dual Clapton on it but that's not what the device was designed for or part of Provari's business plan.

Funnily, I can see myself running dual-Claptons on it at 0.5-ohms or so. In my head, it would work really well on the Radius.

No disrespect intended!

None, inferred! Thanks for reading.

I don't know, I seem to get the picture that hobbyists dominate on this site on a daily basis. I think there are many that just use the pen style with a simple Protank.

I'm not sure of Provape's marketing analysis, but, they would be foolish to get to far behind. Many here comment on not needing TC or many watts.

I just don't think Provape is that foolish. BUT, those people that just want to not smoke and are using the Ego/Protank, are they willing to pay $200???

Certainly many will. Last year that was the cost of a v 2.5. Then the P3. And both of those have been popular.

But sales have dropped. Market share is down, too. If that continues, where are they in a couple of years. Especially, if other companies are upping their game, as they are. Their introduction of the box style and going to 40 watts is an indicator that they are recognizing the change in the market, but they don't see TC or "high" wattages as dominating. But, on this site, most posts tend to be the other way (hobbyists).

Be nice to see their market analysis, but their action in putting out the Radius does say something. I am past the $40 mod that might make steam come out of my ears. So, I am interested.

When the P3 was announced last year I had just started vaping at about 20W (previously had vaped around 12W). Didn't want to spend the money on a device that I might not be able to use for very long as I could see coil manufacturers changing their ways. Shortly after it's release I was vaping between 25W - 30W.
I"ve been vaping in that range ever since, but when the Radius was announced I thought the 40W would be too limiting to me. And sure enough, I recently received a TCF4 tank and have been using my CoolFire at it's maximum of 40W with it and still need a bit more so I've recently purchased a device that can go to 60W.

The Radius looks like a very nice device (although I don't particularly care for the small window), but they keep releasing products that are just below my needs.

Next year they'll probably release a 60W mod, but I'll probably be vaping at 75W by then - or maybe I won't be vaping any more.

What I don't understand is the tolerance some develop with vaping. When I started there were cigalikes, egos; mechs also, but I didn't know about them at the time. I vape around the same wattage I did with my first eGo style kit, but now new vapers and long term vapers need more and more power...

I understand that. Right now I kind of feel like I have too many lower power mods, and wish they all had a minimum of 60W. You can always use less power, but you can't get more when you want it. Not sure I want any more mods under 60W.

The Official Radius thread has more views in less than one month ... than the whole Cloud Chaser sub-forum has since it was started in Sept 2014

Pretty sure ProVape has the market figured out :smokie:

Where is your information coming from? Sales are down? They missed the mark on the p3? Now they've done it again with the radius?
Hello!!! The p3 sold, so will the radius!!! Maybe you should try provapes 40 watts, before you decide you need 60!!! You just won't get it, until you GET it!!!

Well, I don't have any evidence (or course), but I would wager that the P3 didn't do what they had hoped and that Provape has lost market share. I say this based on how quickly the prices of Provari's dropped (especially in resale), the number of sales (discounts) they had for the P3 (sales previously seemed somewhat rare), and the reduced number of Provari discussions on this forum over the last year. Up until the Radius thread, there wasn't much talk about Provari's any more here (certainly not like there was a year or two ago). I've certainly read more posts from former Provari owners that weren't interested in the P3 (or Radius) than I have non-provari owners interested in getting their first one. Does that mean they're in trouble? Don't know.

I'm selling everything but my xvo, radius, and a couple reo I have. All my higher watt devices do is drink juice like it's water. I'm usually at 15-20 watts on a squape. lol. I've tried many sub tanks like the tfv4 and freemax. I get no benefit from them, besides big clouds. All those big clouds do is irritate those around me. lol.

1. It's Provape, i'm sure they know the most powerful Evolv/yihi chip out there inside and out through reverse-engineering.

2. They know the current market more than you or I do and full well knew exactly what they were releasing. They're not trying to do a ( ABSOLUTELY NO ) -measuring contest with all these cheap Chinese/Filipino mods even though they easily could. Provape stands alone.

I have to admit that the last two releases from Provari has me questioning their longevity.

The vape world is being dominated by smart electronics, and the Provari's seem to be lacking the really desirable features. China is actually getting better at making high quality cases, and they are importing the DNA chips.

At least Evolv, knew they needed something big and delivered. Provari is two years behind.

Does everyone need 40w and TC? No, but if you can have it all for 1/4 the price, then why consider the alternative?

Because you can't...

Have it all for 1/4 of the price.
