Thanks for posting this thread. I moved from 6v stacked battery vaping to 3.7 with LR supplies and got the big hit satisfaction in a small form factor. The twist adds a new level of enjoyment for me to dial in the voltage. Would love to have a Provari someday. I got the pleasure of trying one at VapeFest in Vegas last year. That model required 5 clicks then wait, more clicks to move up or down and I got confused. I think I would have fallen in love if there had been time to play with it. The plus on the twist is being able to have 3 or 4 loaded with different flavors to enjoy at a small price.

Not trying to be a massive ...., but 3-4 twists is almost as much as a provari, and it wont die :p

Keep in mind that Busardo reviewed the V1... Apparently the V2 (shipping now) has fixed a number of the issues he talked about in his video (including the voltage tuning, LED off issue, saved settings when changing the batteries, and default 3.0 volts instead of 5.0).

I really want the Provari, but since allaboutvapor.com has the Vmax V2 with batteries (and instructions...lol) for $95 & free shipping (and a 10% off coupon code), I went for it. Mine (chrome w/clear button and blue LED) will be here tomorrow, can't wait! :)

That's awesome they fixed some of the issues. Let us know what you think :)

Meeems,

I just watched the Busardo video on the vmax myself and I'm totally turned off. It's not doing what it is supposed to. Hitting hard at 3.2 volts?? I like a cooler vape. I usually do a 3 ohm at like 4.8-5.0... The fact that its hitting that hard at a 3.0-3.2 clearly shows what you set on it isn't what you get.

He reviewed the first run of the Vmax...they fixed that issue in later versions.

Edit: my bad...CapitalPuff already said that :)

No blistering whatsoever over here', you have more knowledge about the Vmax than i do, i have none. but how is the toughness' of it? thats what i want to know. can it be dropped alot? lol.

I think i'm going to go do some utube'ing on the vmax, you guys are starting to convince me big time'..

The Vmax is made solid in brass or stainless. Plenty of reports of Vmaxes being kicked, droped onto pavement ect, ect and they have held up very well.

The Twist is a good Joyetech product, haven't heard of one failing outside of the warranty yet and they've been out for a few months?

The TWIST's are now available for $19. That'll be 8 for the price of a base Provari, 11 by the time you add 3 good batts and a good charger. If you swap your 3 batts every 6 mths, which is good- that's 2 more TWIST's a year.

And, hey, you can take it to the beach, fishing, to a party, and not worry if you don't bring it back home. I have 4 Riva's and 4 Joyetech batts that haven't even weakened since last Feb.

I just got the device this morning, and so far I have to say I am very impressed! The chrome version is GORGEOUS! It has a great weight in the hand and feels very solid.

When you first put batteries in it, it defaults to 3.0v, display off, button LED on (blue). The button is now clear and lights up completely instead of only half like the v1. The button feels pretty solid and not "floaty" like the v1 and also very "clicky" (which I like). If you shake the pv like Busardo did, the button (at least in mine) makes no noise at all. The settings will still reset when you change the batteries like the v1 did, so it seems they haven't addressed that issue but that's pretty minor to me. I don't have any equipment to test the voltages, but I will probably just do a side by side "how does it feel" comparison on my lavatube

So far I am very happy with it, and for the price even happier!

EDIT - It does now come with instructions explaining the menu system.

As a relative noob, my vaping equipment requirements are governed by the old saying, KISS. Keep It Simple, Stupid! I don't have a clue about ohms, watts, regulated, unregulated, low resistance, standard resistance, thermonuclear physics, string theory, particle acceleration, etc, etc, etc. Maybe one day when I'm all grown up I'll find the need for one of the really big toys and step up to a Provari or something similar, but for now my eGo C Twists fit the bill. I'm not knocking them or anyone who uses them, but for me the twists offer simple and effective vaping at a really affordable price point. Just my 2 cents.

I have both and use both on a daily basis, ProVari at home and at friend's houses, and Twists everywhere else. Here's a few (hopefully subjective) points to consider:

    Price
Short term, the Twist is easily the most economical choice as a battery & charger costs roughly $30 at currently prices. Since you never want to go without a device and you need a backup, add an additional battery and the initial cost is about $55. These haven't been around long enough to determine the average life span, but typically the eGo battery life span is about 3 to 6 months with heavy to moderate use, from what I've been able to gather.

Long term investment is where the ProVari could be an advantage. A start up price for the ProVari is $160 for the base unit + $20 for 2 batteries + $25 for a good smart charger (XTAR WP2 II, for example), and the total is around $205. If you want the extension cap for the larger 18650 batteries, which I recommend for fewer recharges, then add another $20 to the start up cost. Battery replacements every 3 to 6 months (depending on use) will cost about $10 per battery or less if you find a vendor with good prices.

It would take approximately 2.5 years of replacing batteries every 3 months at current prices for the amortized cost of owning a ProVari to show benefit over the cheaper and disposable Twist batteries:
    Twist - $55 start up + $40 every 3 months ($360) = $415
    ProVari - $205 start up + $20 every 3 months ($180) = $395

    Quality
Some will argue with my opinion on this point I'm sure, but that's all good with me. When it comes to quality, especially with electronics which are especially trendy, it's almost a wash. Yes, the ProVari is a very well made device, and that is evident to anyone who has owned one and has had any interaction with Provape regarding any issues. However, electronics are trendy and many would argue that longevity is not as important since they'll be upgrading within the course of a year or two to the latest device. This is true for smart phones, computers, tablet devices, and any new and awesome vape related gear that will be announced this year or the next.

With that said, my personal take on it is that quality does matter and each has quality points to be considered. Joyetech has been making good quality products for quite some time and has recaptured a consumer base with the Twist design. I would say that in the class of disposable batteries, they're on top of their game and have made a high quality product for the average consumer market. The ProVari, on the other hand, is in a different class of device and appeals to a different market with different needs. I don't think anyone who has owned a ProVari can argue that the quality is top notch, even if they think other devices in the same class offer "good enough" quality at lower prices. It's been my experience that quality is subjective based on the price point, design goals, and the needs of the consumer.

    Features
Yes, the ProVari wins this category hands down, but what if we look at the features that we really need and not just the geeky-cool stuff the ProVari offers? If you're an average vaper, all you need is a way to get the voltage to a point where the atty/carto/clearo + juice combination tastes best and produces adequate vapor for you. For ease of use, the Twist stands out because you can easily just tweak the dial a little in one direction or another and vape to find that sweet spot. On the other hand, the geeky-cool features of the ProVari are quite useful to me and I do like knowing the current charge of my battery and the ohms of the juice delivery system attached. Both do the most important feature well, which is changing the voltage, and to me that's really what matters most.

    Summary
I'll use a technology analogy since vape gear is technology and just as trendy as other tech gadgets. If I bought a MacBook Pro or a top of the line Windows PC and a Kindle Fire to use for different scenarios, I would expect each to have quality and features for it's price point and intended purpose. Each would have some of the same features, such as email, web browsing, watching YT videos, etc, but one would be a "do everything" device, and one would be a "do everything I need right now" device. I could take the Kindle just about anywhere with me with fewer concerns about damage due to the lower replacement cost, but I couldn't run a high quality video editing software on it, if that's what I wanted to do.

To me, it would make more sense if the title of this thread would have been "ProVari & eGo Twist" rather than the standard "vs" comparison as each has it's distinct place in the market and in my vape kit.

I like the heft and quality feel of my provari mini. That being said...
The other day I was walking down the street on some Crocodile Dundee ..... Some punk can around the corner, knocked over this old lady, grabbed her purse, and took off running. As the lady was yelling for someone to stop him, I took a pull off my provari, cocked my arm back, and let it fly. It hit the thief right in the back of the head, dropping him instantly. I ran over to retrieve my baby, then came back to help the old lady back up.

hahaha I would never throw my provari, not even to help an old lady! hahaha idk crocodile dundee popped into my head where he does that with a soup can, thought it would be funny.
I do own both a provari mini and 2 twists. I use both (or all 3) all the time. For most things, the twist is plenty sufficient. I think I bought the provari mainly so that I 'have a provari'. I have lots of mods, and use them all from time to time, some not so much as others. You want to be out and see another vaper (which I only have twice) and for them to see your vaping a provari. You want to show it off. I think it is kind of like a 'status' thing. It also performs flawlessly, though. I see this thread going on and on and on. Both are great devices, but I think pbusardo said it best- when you have one, you will get it. I got one, and now I get it.
