Wow, go to work and miss like 5 pages of posts....where to start....priming cartos I guess. I use a carto condom too, but I do it a little different. I fill it about 3/4 of the way up, then push the carto down in, slowly, connector end first. Once the liquid is in, I pull the carto out, put a bit more liquid in and repeat, tapping the carto on a paper towel on the table to settle the juice down to the bottom in between. Once it's looking all slushy-like, I put a paper towel over the end the drip tip goes into, blow through the connector end to clear the airway, slip it into the tank and good to go. Takes about 2 minutes. Eddard, I'm a recent convert to HHV, got my first order from there last week and LOVING the Blueberry Muffin, the Mocha Java Smooth ain't half bad either. Ordering some more flaves tomorrow once I deposit this weekend's tips, can't wait to try Cinful Pear and a couple other's I've been eyeing.

I tried the condom dunk method for a while, but got tired- I use XXL Kanger cartos, which can take 3 dunks, so now I just flood them, let them sit a minute, blow them out from either end, screw in and use.

Savoir-Faire is everywhere!
I can relate, I'm the weird one but I've accepted it so it's cool. :)
I'm weird myself but in a different way than my mother...lol

I've got this little black screw thing that can attach to the cartomizer and the juice bottle or a syringe but I haven't used it yet.

Reading all this is causing me anxiety to try and fill my cart for the first time. The one I'm using now, the B&M did it for me. Took her like seriously like two minutes. She used a needle nose dropper, filled it, took an empty bottle and stuck the end of the cart in it then sucked the other end looking for bubbles. She said she could tell by the bubbles when the cart was full.

Uummm, ok..the bubble watcher. But she didn't clue me in on exactly what to look for with the bubbles.

If all this sounds too complicated, the simplest (but slowest) option was mentioned above. Fill it to the top and leave it standing up on end for an hour (30min is prolly fine) and let gravity work the juice down around the coil.

Also it may become a little more clear if it's understood what priming does. There is a coil in that carto. The carto has polyfill surrounding the coil. If the coil is fired when the fill is dry of juice, it'll burn the fill, and the carto will be useless flavor-wise.

The real goal of priming is to get the poly-fill between the punch holes and the coil wet with juice. The carto won't "wick" juice from the tank to the coil if that part is dry.

In the end, you are just looking to get the filler wet in a little metal tube, nothing to get nervous about. If you flood it, put a paper towel over the open end, blow in the connector, problem solved! I can see where all the different methods and such can sound complicated, but once you do it, you'll see that it's really not. You got this!

It really isn't that hard AngieB, we are at about the same progression rate, I filled my first carto and tank Friday after spending all week reading Batitudes and Oceleots instructions.

First tank I filled came out perfect, so I thought "hey that wasn't that hard why where you so intimidated by this", then came the must be beginners luck, so I filled 3 more, only had a slight problem with gurgle on the last one.Blew it out the way Crimson Jack discribedand all was smooth sailing from there.

I getcha. Before I attempt it, I will read the blogs again from Oce & Bad and watch a few vids. The worse than can happen I guess is flooding or dry hits. Either one is not pleasant but its a learning curve.

I need to take the water wings off and just jump in the deep end. I'd prefer a floaty but...

See and I'm the opposite. The last thing I want to do is read how to do something.
I'm visual. I'll hit up YT, watch a couple of vids then take it from there.
Anything I may have trouble with I just go back to that part of the vid and watch again.
So much easier watching someone else do it.
Watching for me also cuts out some of the intimidation factor which is usually at an all time high when doing something unfamiliar.

Okay, in a desperate attempt to stop the tank/carto talk that has taken over this beloved thread, I submit the following picture:

IMAG0775_1_1_zps14a4b679.jpg

That is a dripper atty (with new drip shield and special drip tip I really love) on top of my ProVari. I have steadfastly refused to even try it, but VaperCon forced me to give it another whirl.
(I can hear the Ocelot laughing now)

It is very good flavor, and I see why it has an appeal. Sometimes, I just want a few puffs of a flavor. So it will be a semi-regular use item for the time being.

That is all...

Except...it looks great...on my ProVari.

Sorry if my posts are causing anxiety, it's really not hard and I'm sure you'll be fine. I just have issues with anything liquid. I spill coffee on myself every day. :)

What you are seeing is actually just the drip shield. The atty itself is a plain jane 510 dripping atty, with a 510 to 510 adapter to get the height correct.....

see?

IMAG0776_1_zps86103d89.jpg

I bought my first dripping atty and very excited to try. What's the scoop on 510 to 510? Is it needed or you just did it for extra length for the dripping shield? I don't have a 510 to 510, yet

Mainly for elevation, but it does seem to keep leakage/seepage to a minimum if I go overboard.

If I've gone overboard, I'm begging you,
To forgive me, oh,
In my haste...

But you can use your dripping atty with just a tip "straight up", sans 510 to 510.
