I've brought up the idea of a social thread before.

I even posted a thread in the ProVape supplier forum asking if we could have a social sticky like the Reo Lounge, but they never answered.

Perhaps the difference is that the Reo is made by one person and having a community is important to his sales, whereas ProVape is an actually company, not as dependent on word of mouth for customers.
There is a ProVari "Group," but it's a different kind of discussion. Navigating through the forum to find a group isn't easy. I was a member of one for about 5 months before I ever found it. Groups also don't have the same kind of input. Groups end up being a small number of people posting repeatedly, instead of having posts by new people with questions or to share their enthusiasm at getting a new ProVari.

It's the new posts that keep a section going - questions are answered, comments are added, information is shared. And sharing of information does take on a social aspect:

antonyms: individual
of or relating to rank and status in society.
"a recent analysis of social class in Britain"

"a church social"

Unless responses to posts are copied and pasted from the instruction manual, they are going to be
social in some way.
Perhaps part of the confusion comes from the description of the sub-forum. The Model Specific Discussions, such as this one, in the APV section are described as forums for "enthusiasts."
en·thu·si·ast
enˈTHo͞ozēˌast/
noun
1.
a person who is highly interested in a particular activity or subject.
"a sports car enthusiast"
synonyms: fan, devotee, aficionado, lover, admirer, follower;
Quite a conundrum. There is no doubt I am a ProVari enthusiast, so by strict definition I could post anything I like, ProVari-related or not, to other ProVari enthusiasts in an area designated for ProVari enthusiasts . Perhaps I'm mistaken in thinking that threads in the Lounge are for people who have things in common other than being devotees of a specific device.
If these Model Specific Discussions are not actually meant to be for
enthusiasts, then perhaps it should be clearly stated that threads should pertain to technical issues only. Of course, that would pretty much turn this discussion into a ghost town, since how many post are entirely about technical issues? Just so you know, asking where to find a drip tip to match your tank isn't a technical question, or even a ProVari question, since you might use it on another mod without telling anyone.
Technically looking for a drip tip should be posted in the "Where can I get a..." sub-sub-sub-forum. If you don't know where that is, you had better start looking. It's on the 2,000th post test. If you flunk, you have to go back to the New Members forum and post 5 times to get out. You will also lose your hotel on Broadway and your Tatroes.
I don't mean to sound critical of the mods. They do a thankless job I wouldn't want. I appreciate the effort they put forth to keep this forum civil and mature, but I wonder if in some situations they are making more work for themselves. I have read the rules. In fact, I have read the rules a few times recently trying to discern how they were applied in certain situations (nothing to do with this forum), and there are areas the rules don't cover at all. If the rules aren't clear, it suggests specific decisions are left up to the personal discretion of the individual mod. That's fine; it's their call, but if the decisions are inconsistent and contradictory, it doesn't do much in the way of providing direction of what is acceptable for future posts.
I think my observation about the "cleaning up" of this section actually echoes some of what Classy posted. It's true that cleaning up takes time, so then why read a two page thread and go to the trouble of moving it, when it is almost dead from natural causes? A Zap is a rebuildable, so perhaps it should be in the rebuildable section, but does anyone other than ProVari owners use a Zap? I don't know, which means if I was a mod I would have to ponder that for a minute or look it up. Realistically, if someone posted a question about a Zap in the rebuildables sub-forum would there be more helpful replies or more replies critical of owning a ProVari? Perhaps we should do a survey.
But I digress. Sort of. I wonder how long it takes to read a thread, consider whether or not it should be moved, decide what section it would be more appropriate in and go through the mechanics of moving it? If a thread is rudimentarily topical to the section it was originally posted in and has not been reported for TOS violations, is the endeavor worth the effort?
And, so, back full circle to all things ProVari. I went temporarily insane (should I post this in the Health section?) and have another one coming this afternoon. Which, of course, meant it had to have it's own tank, Loki ring and Serenity sleeve (would this be better in the "Show us your pretty..." thread?), which I accidentally ended up buying 2 of (does the Health section have a Mental Health sub-forum? If I put one up for sale in the classys would that be considered a cross-post?). He is a full-size Knight in Polished Armor, I have named Sir Galahad (Lounge material most certainly). Alas, I still won't be able to post pictures of the court until all his accouterments arrive (Lounge or Mental Health, it's a toss up).
