Oh MY GOD. I KILLED what appeared to be like a SPIDER thing, and it was half as big as my hand. I decided to call it a WOLF spider because all the other options are so HORRIFYING. But it was edging toward my Theraflu and there was NO LITERAL WAY IN HECK I was gonna scream loud enough for the husband who is outside to have a) heard B) CARED c) came and d) rescued.

I have decided the thing I hate most about our Douglas home is it is just BUILT FLAT on the ground. In full spring/early summer we can freaking perimeter INDOORS and OUTDOORS and like, it don't matter. THERE IS NO Concrete slab or steps or ANYTHING to NOT dissuade the freaking bugs but POISON, dude and you can only spray so much. Not even a crawlspace.

HUMANS we need to live in (non venomous tree houses!

Are we like cave men, building our reeking fires against the entrance of the home in the hopes of like driving away the insects. Well in DOUGLAS we are. NO crawl space or insulation even and to be fair I have been bit by many THINGS but that spider was HORRIFYING. It lifted it's little spidery legs and APPENDAGES to fend me off but I was like KING KONG. No choice.

Yeah, I could have lovingly ushered it outside to return to "OCCUPY my HOUSE" but I vote DOWNTWINKLES on that!

I bet I could make it a long way with no food, quite rapidly or if like, mandated by the spider. Or you paid me enough. I'm guessing that spider was worth 10 K.

I was just sitting down to my Theraflu and the THAT and I figured out why I am so hateful today I ran out of a med like that if you forget to fill it (I REMEMBERED my online pharmacy forgot and then I had the whole uh, hospital thing and it slipped my mind.) Fine *I* forgot. It's not super fun to stop. I mean, it is also not great and you can get seizures but long ago and far away, my doc and I put together a little "anti seizure kit" for when things like that happen cuz they do not often.... but then the SPIDER. OH GOD.

I ask me, "Would I hire myself?" and then I say, "Why Anna yes I DO. Because I don't forget other people's medications and well I am no doctor or anything but you can make handy contingency plans for like when THEY do and it saves lives. Not the spider's but you can't have everything.

But the spider. It is DEAD. I am torn between showing it to the husband and like rinsing it down the sink. He is not going to believe me but I don't want to like, trip over the thing hiding its corpse from me either.

Decisions. Decisions. I don't want to be any hearing "live with bugs" either. It's not like we even have FIREFLIES here, just stuff that wants to poison and lay its eggs in you. I'm done with the damn desert.

Years ago, when I was working in the corporate world, I spent quite a bit of time in AZ, but it was always in a very nice hotel/resort thing in Phoenix. So, they took care of the bugs inside. i do remember a vacation in Kauai when I saw this giant thing in the bathroom and called the front desk and they said there was a spray bottle of insecticide sitting on the toilet for that.
It would have been great for you to post a pic of the insect for us. For example, here's a turtle I encountered on my bike ride a couple of days ago.

. . .Oh well, I can view it as an exciting adventure and it will be fun to be around vets again, since when I moved to Tucson I started volunteering for a vet organization and I miss them. I mainly started cuz I needed stuff to do. LOL but I love vets.I find that a more enjoyable way to "give back" than a patriotic song on a Memorial day. Many vets I know are not overly fond of that day, but not all. I have learned to ask, "Would you want to be thanked for your service today?"
But man... Yeah, I can have a lovely time at a VA I happen to think, especially the department I will be in, and DBT Groups and yay!. . .

Everyone I like is leaving. It's sorta cool but depressing, I mean when they started locking the bathrooms for staff and needing a hall monitor I was like uh DUDE that is no place to be associated with. I think COVID was so damaging because admin have ALWAYS been psycho and that was who we were dealing with and they were especially psycho and remain so. Sheesh.

I quote only to show the context of my reply, and hope I don't do it too often. Anyhow, I'm glad you're getting out of what sounds like an increasingly bad situation. Darn shame it involves moving such a great distance.

On that "Thank you for your service" thing. I hate it. I was in the Army for a bit over 5 years, but didn't do a darn thing heroic or adventurous. I went where they sent me, and did what they told me to do. Just please, just give it a break.

I think it's the folks who don't so much "deal" with vets who think the "Memorial Day" means something. If you are an injured vet in constant pain, with little assets every day is "memorial day" and it's unpleasant.

LOL I kinda feel that way about SW month. I cannot for the life of me remember A DAMN THING meaningful occurring. I mean, no a cookie in the break room that says "SW on it" doesn't really... You are one if you ARE one. You don't need a freaking medal. Oh, sometimes after a particularly horrifying day, you might award yourself the medal of, "I just heard and dealt with the worst things EVER, and I will neither spree kill, or kill myself medal" but it's kinda one you don't put up on the wall.

LOL I got my "One year service plaque" at my last job like it was some big deal. I just looked at my boss and said, "How nice. Have you done my yearly assessment yet?" She had not. Nor my raise or nothing because... COVID. Pretty soon here like I will have approached TWO years and my one year performance review has YET to be evaluated. I don't think I even HAVE a copy because HR did not approve it yet.

Oh man I am freaked out they freaking sent me my credentialing stuff today! I was like HOLY JESUS OMG. They want me on a plane tomorrow.

I bet if I accept an early offer, I might be able to get something out of them. But I would speak to fiscal guy directly. I'd be like, "Sir, we own a house, we rent a house, you are asking me to RENT another house, you are going to have to give me a little leeway here or some $$$ because it is fiscally UNSASTAINABLE to like, uh, pay for 3 houses between two people. So help me out here for a few months, or start me in a few months. Pick one.

I am getting a replacement phone tomorrow for 99 bucks. That was not a terrible insurance deal. The husband gonna freak when I get in the car, but he will get over it and get everything done. Oy.

They are HURLING documents my way I am telling you.

So like yeah, we'll see. I find everyone reacts different to the thanks for your service. It's such a canned, well, democratic response. "Thank you for your service." There is a big difference between a drone missile pilot and someone returning with no legs.

But yes it's nice to be leaving I am NUT who LOVES WV and frankly as even my mommy said (my instincts were right on that CO job I did not get it nor want it) "You and the husband would be happier there."

She said it after I sent her a spoof text when she said she would have to do an "East Coast Tour" if "Covid permitted it." I wrote back "Mom don't even SPEAK such things aloud! We all know whether it's the aliens, the Chinese masquerading as the Chinese, the Russians masquerading as the Chinese, or TRUMP OR THE NEW WORLD ORDER" masquerading as the virus spreaders, in a few months we will be fully primed for the Gates vaccine which will give us little nanobots that will control what we do, feel and think. So if we watch enough Netflix and maintain our Facebook Accounts, we should be fine. However, tourism is important to the New World Order so you will be able to visit, although you might have to pay a Sin, I mean Global Warming Tax and you may lose your place in the bread, TP and milk line but we will share! We will grow vegetables even have no fear!"

She did not respond. Later she told me she thought it was a brainwashing and\/or steroid psychosis. I was disappointed I thought it was a lovely piece of satire. I explained to her a) I was kidding b) it is funny to anyone with the SLIGHTEST of leanings toward center c) I FORCE myself to listen to ALL sides of the new for a half hour a day and d) how could she be so disappointed in her daughter's critical reasoning skills, I was like "IT'S FUNNY. Read it AGAN." She said it wasn't. I explained to her like me and the husband were trying to figure out what aliens were who, and we had decided it was for Trump the Flying Spaghetti Monster. She did not like that either she said "that man is HELL wherever he has BEEN" and I said, "Well SATAN gets around" and she didn't think it was funny either.

I can usually tell things are going bad for me when I lose my sense of humor and she should put on am coast to coast for a while, even JUST below where it like, you can hear it and see if it improved her disposition and well, open mindedness to the absurd,. Because lets face it NONE of us have a clue as to what is going on. Even Trump is getting that little boy "I miss my daddy" type of face that "W" used to get and it's not like Herbert was even NICE. I met him and his wife Barbara for a hospital opening our string quartet played at the both looked like they had just EMERGED from the grave. I wouldn't shake hands because I was finicky about my hands then and like I was scared they would transmuted dead hands.

I wonder if that's in my file. "Refused to shake hands with B. Bush. Cited delicacy of future violin prodigy hands."

OMG the best one, though was the NATIONAL SPELLING BEE we played and got to watch it was EXCITING.

Mother was like "I will be so happy to come visit you sweetheart" I think it was her way of saying "Don't come to Colorado you will be lynched."

SO yea, I'm okay with putting many miles between me and AZ actually. Should be fine.

in a very nice hotel/resort thing in Phoenix.

Phoenix is a concrete jungle. It doesn't count. Seriously if you want to go barefoot in Phoenix (I do when I am there) you can pretty much walk on hot coals.

The hottest manmade place on earth is the Phoenix International Airport. Don't think you'd be like, squishing too many freaking spiders there.

If I ever come across in my new land, something that makes me want to take a picture instead of kill it immediately, you will be the first to know. LOL.

The only conclusion I can really draw is dogs are unusually nicer than toddlers and far less high maintenance. I'm pretty sure it was the dog's.

Oh my I slept until noon today. I'm not even SORRY exactly I was so sleep deprived but this is going to put a crimp in my plans. I'm not even sure WHICH plans yet, because my plans were not concrete, and well so I will have to fluidly adjust them.

It's al good though honestly because well, I NEEDED the sleep there are a few things I HAVE to do but nothing MAJORLY insane, honestly. So, gonna see etc.

No more STEROIDS so I can like lower my meds I think I gotta rehabilitate me into some sort of normal sleep schedule and whatnot. Fevers consistently getting lower. Still coughing a bit but not like I WAS OMG.

Mainly I need to hydrate I think I slept like 3 hours straight. OJ awaits.

My local bike guy is overwhelmed with work, he told me parts are scarce, tires sold out, etc. I have a couple sets of spare tires for my primary ride but tonight I rotated them front to back to even the wear...back was already developing a flat spot from acceleration and braking. Did a minor tune up and then strapped on the lights for a 9 mile night ride...heaven! Going to be doing a lot more night riding now that the heat is setting in, I really enjoy the peace and quiet of my night rides.

I have decided rioting works in extreme situations but for stuff like this, it just really sucks. I mean it SUCKS I might even joint the TM bunch (why yes, I am indoctrinated with a ton of funky stuff, because I was explorative in my youth. I'd enthusiastically commit to whatever, because I was like, "I think all this BS about one religion guru whatever or another, I have even met a Bishop or two that was fun to talk to) so I participated enthusiastically, for a while, and moved on..

It's useful. Really. Maybe not TM. I have a hard time crediting that if ENOGUH people did TM at once, the world would be a loving peaceful place. Well, maybe we would ALL die of boredom and that is how it works.

However, I am distressed enough to see if it might be worth my time.

Likely not how can you know though? That's one of those unprovable hypothesis even if it worked because you can't prove it wasn't; Other Stuff.
