If I could relocate it, I would. Yeah I know, there are ways. I've watched the YouTube videos trying to see if there was a fool proof way of doing so. Not worth the risk. I'm sorry, it's our planet too. I pay the property taxes and he's gotta go. It's not my fault, I didn't make it this way.

Oh I'm not blaming you. That is one thing about Tucson, most of the wildlife is so actively unpleasant that it's less guilty feeling to have to kill it. I have never, not even for a millisecond regretted anything I've killed here, except the packrats and they're not even THAT cute, except in comparison to like, a scorpion.

But no one goes near my bunnies! They're endless entertainment.

I think the worst I felt (whilst thoroughly amused at the same time) was when our little dog was staying over at my mom's house for some reason (think it was the fire, cuz we were all camped out there for a bit). Little dog grew up in the desert and he used to do stuff like leave a trail of "dogfood" crumbs for the birds, then pounce. He got SO rehabilitated I had even watched him SHARING his dog bowl with birds who were perched there, etc.

But apparently desert quail are like the truffles of the desert, they hatch out in the ground and they are these tiny balls of fluff with long legs and a beak, and like HE WENT NUTS. I mean, it was like "gulp" and they were gone. They hatched out in a day, but like mommy quail called for the babies for days.

I still kind of wish I'd caught it on video though.... All DAY he was just running around waiting to pounce, etc. LOL.

I know you're not blaming me. :) My comments were directed at any PETA people that might cruise by. You know, the ones that would save a animal before a human. The type that think animals have more rights than we do, that we invaded their territory. Well guess what, I've been coming and staying at this house since 1966. Lived here permanently for almost 3 years. Pretty sure that's longer than that skunk been alive. Maybe HE'S THE ONE THAT SHOULD'VE STAYED IN THE WOODS AND NOT COME INTO THE CITY AND INVADE MY PROPERTY... Still, if he didn't stink up the place, he would be in no danger. I'll get no joy in it. Jackie and I will feel bad.
Btw, this house has been here since 1875. Aside from maybe some turtle somewhere, pretty sure that's longer than any animal has been alive anywhere.

I'm not against taking an animal's life. I just want animals to be respected, killed humanely and with good reason (as in it is necessary). Hunting is perfectly OK with me too because I know the vast majority of hunters who harvest animals are feeding themselves or others (mixing sport with the necessities in life is possible). I'm a fisherman (underwater hunting). Release almost all of them but will keep one now and again for shore lunch. Like I say, I just want animals to be respected. I'm no peta. Far from it. But when I see animals being mistreated I can get as incensed as they do. I know where animals are in the pecking order. I don't need anyone to try and convince me by mistreating them to satisfy their own testosterone-driven egos.

Hope that makes sense.

Yes.
Know how God gave us dominion over the animals? Interestingly enough, I was reading in the Bible just last night where The Lord told the Children of Israel when they settle into their new land to not take a mother bird from her babies. Wow. Remember how I was asking at the beginning of summer how long baby birds stay in the nest because we had one in the garage and I didn't want to remove it until the babies were gone? Makes me feel pretty damn good about it, especially now. How did I know? Lol I must be, "in tune." Well, that's another subject I won't get into....
Anyway, yeah, food, clothes, self defense and defense of property. That's how I feel. Every one of those animals that I have killed on my property were in defense of my stuff and in the case of the skunk, well being. Both Jackie and I commented while watching it in the middle of the night eating mulberries, it's to bad. He actually makes great security during Cheeseburger.
Btw, when The Lord demanded animal sacrifices, He ordered it to be given to the Levites, who were the priests of Israel, to eat. But again, that's another subject I won't get into...

I am no PETA, I grew up hunting and fishing, taking frogs, and eels, and even turtles to feed our family. I was taught to respect all life, and to be thankful for the food that nature provided to us via wild game. I never believed in taking photographs of my kills, rather to give thanks for their life and sustenance. That is all...

You're never going to believe this but we're actually considering letting Pepe Le Pew live. Jackie and I were discussing it tonight and really, aside from smelling him in the middle of the night (almost every night), what has he done to us? Our mantra has been to only take out the animals that screw with us. I mean, really, he stays out of our trash, he walked 3 feet in front of me, walked past me, turned around and went back where he came from without spraying me. I think he saw me, not sure because I was acting like Flat Stanley. It's my neighbors in the back that want me to take him out because he sprayed their dog which shouldn't have been over here anyway. We don't care because we don't, but my dog wouldn't be going over in the neighbor's yard. The damn thing barks at me from 3 lots away when I get home or just go out to my Jeep for something. Pepe's been hanging out in the front yard eating mulberries when the bar closes. Been kind of strange no trash in the yard or bird feeders missing this year during Cheeseburger. The only reason we shot the one 2 years ago is because he got in the live trap set up for the squirrels and I haven't set it because THERE ARE NO MORE SQUIRRELS in our neighborhood. I don't know, have to consider this but if he leaves us alone... I understand they eat bee hives and Jackie is allergic to bees... A couple of weeks ago, Jackie showed me a small hole in the ground and tons of bees were flying in and out. It's in the vicinity where he lives. About a week later, the hole was a lot bigger and no bees. Hmmm...

The bees couldnt stand the smell either. Unlike you, they don't have a mortgage so it's easier for them to find an apartment where it doesnt stink so bad.

Pepe will leave when the mulberries are gone. Maybe a good time to trim them. Take the clippings and make a trail to that neighbor's house with the yappy dog.

Lol. Actually, my grandparents planted those (2) mulberry trees @ 40 years ago when I just a kid. They are so huge now, we can't reach the branches. After Cheeseburger, we're going to call a tree service to scale them back as the tips of the branches are just starting to touch the roof of a 3 story house.
And yeah, he's one of those small dogs....
We are on the waiting list for a boxer pup so that's something to consider when it come to Pepe if puppy comes to fruition. It's one of those deals where there is one female left and the last person on the list doesn't know if she wants a female or not. We don't care. Should know by Sunday.

If you are on the fence, you could let Pepe live for another day. I'm not sure how long skunks usually live, but winter is coming and he is a wild thing living off mother nature's good will. If he is a single guy and there are no lady skunks in the area, he may move on by next spring if he survives the winter in your area. If he is eating the food the squirrels would eat and wiping out the bee nest in the ground, it sounds like he has earned his keep for the use of your yard.

I'm not entirely clear why the neighbor thinks the skunk is your problem at all. I mean, it's not like you bought him and bottle fed him in your yard. Let the neighbor do the shooting or trapping, if he's worried about his dog. . Don't loan him a gun though, that's even worse than loaning out tools.

I wish I could post a sign on the live trap, "No Skunks Allowed" and Pepe could read and obey. We'll see how it goes.

No comment, some wouldn't take it as a joke and get offended.
